With an academic career spanning over two decades in computing—teaching topics from research methods to tech ethics—her primary research focuses on digital health. She co-designs technology-based interventions to increase physical activity and manage chronic diseases.

Susan is the author of the Amazon bestseller “Fab Fitness Over 40: Live Well, Feel Good, Look Great.”  Her expertise fuels her personal mission: to live and promote what she calls an "AweMazing Life."

Susan brings this mindset of active, inspired well-being directly to her community, having motivated friends, followers, and family to achieve their health and fitness goals.

She is the 2025 winner of BambuSparks’ inaugural Legacy Publishing Prize valued at USD$3000. How do you handle seasons of delay?

Publishing is changing, and with the advent of AI and AI farmed books flooding the market, the digital publishing platforms need to find solutions to help authors.

In response to this problem, Draft2Digital will be charging account opening fees and an annual fee to keep your book on its platform. Barnes and Noble is putting a cap on the number of books you can publish on its platform and making it mandatory that print books must be priced at minimum at $14.99.

Underperforming books will be removed.

In this episode I share the changes and how this might impact myself, other Caribbean authors and other independent authors. I also discuss the latest in my authorpreneurship ventures.

In this episode Dr. Ruth shares more of her dissertation findings, showing that not more than 10 of the 56 Jamaican authors in her study had sold more than 500 books.

She highlighted the pivot taking place in the publishing industry towards authorpreneurship and why building an ecosystem around your book matters.
