The Avid Indoorsmen

It is the 10th Anniversary of the release of Scott Pilgrim VS The World and we thought we should bring in a huge Edgar Wright fan, our brilliant cameraman/video editor buddy, Jimmy Bates!

We start off the pod discussing the last films we’ve seen, what we’re streaming and what we’ve been eating.

It was a bunch of fun breaking this film down with someone who knows so much about camera work and film editing, you definitely want to hear Jimmy Bates’ insight on this hilarious, quirky film.

We end this show with a movie game that we’ve stolen from the Doug Loves Movies Podcast called Last Man Stanton. Then our Patrons get to hear us draft our Top 5 Favorite Films Where A Video Game Is Played.

Such a fun episode and if you haven’t seen this film we highly recommend you check it out and then listen to our BRILLIANT takes.

Enjoy!

We found ourselves to be thoroughly entertained while recording this episode of GLADIATOR!
We start off chatting about the last movies we’ve seen, what we’ve been streaming and our most delicious meals we’ve consumed most recently.
There was a big snowstorm in the Twin Cities and Rob’s family was dealing with the flu, so we recorded this from the comfort of our own homes separately. This was a first for us, but we still had such a good time breaking down this Best Picture winner from 2000. We both were shocked this film is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary and felt like it deserved to have its very own episode.
We end this episode with a fun game we’ve never played before called Build-A-Title. This was taken from the Doug Loves Movies podcast, like so many of of our favorite games we play. Our Patrons get to listen to us duke it out while we draft our Top 5 Russell Crowe Films!
We hope you are entertained! Enjoy!

Booksmart was one of the best films of 2019 and Rotten Tomatoes even gave it one of their Golden Tomatoes for Best Comedy. That seemed more than reason enough to do an episode on it and we thought it would be fun to bring back our good friend, Beth Swartz!

Before we got chatting with Beth about this hilarious film, we discussed the last movies we’ve seen, what we’ve been streaming and the favorite things we’ve been eating.

We had a blast breaking down this fun, coming of age comedy and spent a lot of time discussing our favorite scenes and ended up quoting most of the movie.

We ended the episode with a super entertaining Imitation Game and our Patrons get to hear us pick our Top 10 Favorite Directorial Debuts, which ended up being really hard because there were so many to choose from!

If you haven’t seen Booksmart yet we highly recommend you check it out and then listen to our AMAZING takes!

Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do when we come for you?!?!?

We decided to talk about the 25 year old action film classic Bad Boys, mainly because the 3rd Bad Boys installment is coming to a theater near you on January 17th. We’re trying to help you get your Bad Boys marathon on before going to see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence next weekend!
Before we break down Michael Bay’s first feature film we chat about the latest movies we’ve seen, what we’ve been streaming and our yummiest meals of late.
So many tasty takes on this episode, you’ll want to hear what we think of Bad Boys.
We conclude this pod with a movie game that was suggested by one of our Twitter followers and then we draft our Top 5 Films Featuring an NBA player.

To officially conclude our Death Star Diaries we thought it would be funny to talk about the Mel Brooks sci-fi farce, Spaceballs!

We got a couple Spaceballs super fans to break down the film with us, Jenika Marion and Adam Rupp!

Before we chatted with them we discussed the latest movies we’ve seen, what we’ve been streaming on the platforms and our most delicious meals of late.

We surprisingly were able to talk about Spaceballs for some time, a big thanks to Jenika and Adam for bringing so much energy to the pod.

This episode was concluded with a movie game we like to call The Imitation Game and then our Patrons got to hear us draft our Top 5 Favorite John Candy films!

Hope you’re all enjoying 2020 so far and May The Schwartz Be With You!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We are now in a new decade, the 2020s!!! But let us not forget the amazingness that was the 2010s. There were some INCREDIBLE films made during that 10 year span and we decided to narrow down the best 10 films of that decade. This was no easy task and we both felt a little insecure about our lists, but between both of our selections we feel that we represented the best films of the 2010s.

You’ll have to excuse our saltiness in the very beginning, we had something happen that had never happened to us in a year of recording these podcasts! Stick with it though because it gets much better as the episode goes on.

Our Patrons get to hear who we think won the 2010s in 5 different categories:
Best Actress
Best Actor
Best Supporting Actor
Best Supporting Actress
Best Director

We hope you all had a wonderful time ending 2019. We wish you an even more wonderful 2020!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

While we wait for The Rise of Skywalker to be released, we focus our attention on one of the most controversial Christmas movies of all time, Die Hard.

Before we jump in with bare feet to break down this film we discuss the most recent movies we’ve seen, what we’re streaming and some great tasting meals we’ve consumed.

Right at the top we give our reasons why we think Die Hard should or shouldn’t be considered a Christmas movie. It’s a very compelling argument filled with the hottest of takes.

After we chat about one of the most iconic action films of all time we end with a movie game that was suggested by one of our Twitter followers. Then our Patrons get to hear us discuss our Top 5 Favorite Action Movie One-Liners which turned into a Top 10.

We’ve done it! We’ve journeyed through time and space all the way through every released Star Wars film! And throughout this Star Wars voyage we’ve had a Jedi master leading us the entire way, the one and only @TheAdamChance!

We start off this episode like all of our episodes by chatting about the last films we’ve seen, what we’re streaming and what we’re eating.

The Last Jedi is one of the more controversial films for Star Wars fans and Chance had some great insight for us on this one.

We conclude with a newer game we’ve only played once before called The Blockbuster Movie Game and then Chance stuck around so our Patrons could listen to us draft our Top 5 Favorite Films Featuring A Casino!

Can’t thank Chance enough for hanging out with us for all of these films. We are all so excited to see The Rise of Skywalker and then do our last Star Wars episode!

Enjoy and May the Force Be With You!

We are getting close to the end of these Death Star Diaries with Episode VII: The Force Awakens. We felt like we should wake the force up with a new guest to the pod, the extremely talented Taylor Davis @ViolinTay! Like all of these Star Wars episodes we have @TheAdamChance on to drop some serious nerd knowledge on us.

Before we talk with our guests we chat about the last movies we’ve seen, what we’ve been streaming on Disney+ and our favorite homemade meals.

We lightsaber-ed our way through The Force Awakens with some scorching hot takes. Taylor and Chance really brought the force on this one.

This episode concludes with a super fun and fast version of The Imitation Game. Then Taylor and Chance stick around and play a Harrison Films Draft with us for our Patrons.

We’re having so much fun talking about Star Wars, we hope you’re enjoying listening to our takes on Star Wars. Next up with be The Last Jedi and then of course we will end with The Rise of Skywalker! Thanks so much and enjoy!
