Join me on episode 9 of PFPTV where I'll be hanging out with Nicola Turner from Mainstream Green!
After nearly 15 years working in the corporate world of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), she got to know far too much about how people behave in the supermarket and how to turn them into the ultimate consumer.
But then she started on a personal journey to live more sustainably. It didn't start out this way, but it became a journey where she questioned every aspect of her consumption.
Turns out that what and how we consume creates our impact on the world around us - it's our footprint. The clothes we wear, the food we eat, the electricity we use, the way we get around, the manufacturing that goes into the stuff we buy, the waste we create - what we consume creates our impact.

She is also Co-founder of Wao, a charitable trust firmly focused on initiatives to get us out of environmental and social deficit and back into the green. Above all Monique is all about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and climate justice advocacy. Her story is super inspirational. Growing up in Invercargill at the bottom end of the planet, she worked for the UN in Geneva, meeting a very French guy and then coming back to NZ to start building a community of like-minded world-changers whilst also co-founding her own truly sustainable design company.

I was super stoked to be interviewed by Daniel De Biasi on his Emigrants Life podcast where he interviews inspirational people that have emigrated and re-started their life in a new country
Daniel left Italy at 27, moved to the opposite side of the world, New Zealand, and then to Canada. If you have emigrated or thinking of doing it, or just curious about other people’s stories, this is the podcast for you.
What do we cover? Well, feeling undermined in the UK, I went to Australia and hoped for a fresh start with different people. While I wanted to get away from the old group of people who made me feel disheartened, I found myself ironically interacting with almost exactly the same people!
Fast forward a few years and the destructive earthquake in Christchurch was a turning point to reflect on my life decisions and purpose.
Check it out!

Welcome to this latest episode of the podcast which is also #2 in my new series of PFPTV - Purpose Fuelled Performance TV - as this episode was originally live-streamed on LinkedIn.
In this episode, I'm talking to Carl Davidson on the topic of bullshit jobs, lack of meaning in life and how to go about finding it from a psychological perspective.
Carl has worked in the insights industry for the last 30 years. Since 2006 he's been with Research First Ltd, who - as the Twitter summary puts it - is a company of 'market researchers, behaviour scientists, strategic thinkers, and good buggers'. He's also written a bunch of books about doing research in New Zealand and he likes to keep his hand in teaching about research wherever he can. Recently he's been spending lots of time talking and writing about critical thinking and the link between smarter thinking and workplace productivity.

The theory is that B Corp is a better business. But is that true?
Certified B Corps are a new form of business that seek to balance purpose and profit.
This means that rather than solely focusing on profit maximisation, they consider the impact of their operations on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment.
B Corps are leaders of a global movement of business committed to being a force for good.
To do that they need to meet verified higher levels of:
1. Social and environmental performance
2. Transparency
3. Accountability
Beyond a commitment and verification tool, it's also a movement, community and guide for maximising the impact that your business can make.
Join me, Austin Hansell from Toitū Envirocare, Steve Ardagh of Eagle Protect NZ, Method Recycling, Ian Harvey from Collective Intelligence, Brian Johnston from CoGo and Latesha Randall from The Raglan Food Co as we dissect what this movement is about and why they joined and what they are getting out of the Certification and see if B Corp is better business.
