Concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus have caused the cancellation or postponement of sporting events throughout the world. Domestic sports leagues such as the NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS and ATP Tour, along with the NCAA, have all shut down competition for the foreseeable future in an effort to help slow down the spread of the virus and protect the health of the athletes, officials, spectators and volunteers.

The outbreak of coronavirus, which has claimed the lives of at least 7,176 people and spread to more than 140 countries, has also affected sporting events across the world.

COVID-19, as the disease is officially known, has infected more than 179,000 people globally. As the virus spreads across the globe, sports bodies are canceling or postponing events.

The Players Championship features the most dramatic finish in golf paired with arguably the strongest field of the year. And it's as close as we come to one of golf’s Big Four. 

This week the Tour will descend on its home turf in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., for what the players call “Our Championship”.

With a final-round 66 and two late birdies, Sungjae Im won his first PGA Tour title Sunday, edging Mackenzie Hughes and Tommy Fleetwood down the stretch at the Honda Classic.

Patrick Reed's superb final round saw him fend off the challenge of an impressive list of players, including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, and Erik Van Rooy to win his eighth PGA Tour title at the WGC-Mexico Championship. 

Reed was able to shut down their challenge and the sometimes hostile noise from the crowd, and got the job done after what has been a superb run of golf dating back to last summer.

Adam Scott won his 14th PGA Tour title and returned to the world’s top 10 with a two-stroke victory at the Genesis Invitational.

He beat Kuchar, Sung Kang and Scott Brown by two, with McIlroy tied fifth alongside Matsuyama, DeChambeau, Homa and Dahmen.

Nick Taylor survived a windy back nine at Pebble Beach to win his second PGA Tour title.

The Canadian was playing with Phil Mickelson in the final group with Lefty attempting to defend his title and win the Pebble Beach Pro-Am for the sixth time.

Graeme McDowell shot a steady even-par 70 to win the Saudi International by two strokes on Sunday for his first European Tour title since 2014.

McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open winner at windy Pebble Beach, protected his lead on a breezy afternoon by the Red Sea to card a 12-under 268 total, holding off late pressure by defending champion Dustin Johnson.
