Lately, it has been the fad to out Thomism as another step toward Romanism. But such a fad is leading many not to differ with Thomas so much as it's leading them to deny Augustinian theology proper, which has always been understood to be nothing short of apostolic doctrine.

Why must we maintain strong theology proper in terms of immutability and simplicity? Because the rejection of it is also the rejection of all objective meaning.

Jettisoning truth because of its association with a person is a fatal mistake for any theologian to make, as is hopefully made obvious here.
