In episode 5 we caught up with Lana who was on her pre-op diet, a week out from her Vertical Gastric Sleeve.
At nearly 6 months post-op, Lana talks about her big day, the weeks following and gives us a general recap on life post WLS!
In the first episode with Lana she said "I am excited to be MY normal" and in this episode we find out if her wish has come true.
Thank you for sharing with us Lana, big love from The BG!
Season 2 B%TCHES! We are back!
It's been a hot minute since we recorded our last episode back in November, so there was a lot to catch up on in the first episode of Season 2. Emma's has been travelling the North Island visiting beautiful places over summer buts gets real and raw about some current challenges she is experiencing regarding her emotional wellbeing. Lian has been off Social Media for a spell, focusing on writing her upcoming 12 months post-WLS eBook, unlearning diet culture and focusing on mindful and intuitive eating.
There was ALOT to talk about and we didn't waste any time. Thanks for listening, we missed you!
PS: There is moment Lian was meant to edit out of a child having a tantrum outside, but it was too good to remove so keep an ear out near the end of the 8-minute mark for a laugh.
In the final episode of Season 1, Emma and Lian catch up with Emotional Wellbeing Educator, Gail Watene. Gail who Lian often references as her "Emotional Therapist" and has supported her since pre-op with the huge mental and emotional changes that come with extreme weight-loss. Gail believes EMOTIONAL & MENTAL health is critical to our overall wellbeing - and we agree! This is one of our favourite episodes yet!
Emma and Lian talk about social media and sharing their Weight Loss Surgery journeys online with [literally anyone]. Find out why they started their Instagram accounts and why they keep them going. Hear first hand the roller coaster social media can become at times, fuelling comparison and negative thoughts but also just how uplifting and supportive the online WLS community has been for both of the girls.
Emma and Lian talk about their physical activity before WLS and what has changed since.
We talk about our top Non-Scale Victories to date, from physical changes to mental breakthroughs.
After a remote recording fail on episode 4, Emma and Lian woke up at the crack of dawn to try some NEW remote recording software. In case the recording failed again, they chose to talk about some random topics for 50 minutes including what was "top of mind" for each of them that day and Lian's list of "pet peeves". We can't say you won't learn something new during this episode, but will it be WLS related? That's debatable.
Following on from episode 3 part 1, Emma and Lian talk about their surgery day experiences and what life was like in the initial recovery phase of surgery.
Disclaimer: This was our first attempt at recording remotely and the audio isn't to our preferred standard, bare with us while we navigate the podcast world!
