Josh Carroll is set to become the new owner of Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, as negotiations for the sale near completion. Current co-owners Ray and Sue Marler confirmed the ongoing discussions in a Dec. 13 written statement on the raceway’s website.
The Marlers, who co-own the facility alongside professional racing driver Ken Schrader and his wife, Ann, expressed their confidence in Carroll’s ability to elevate the track’s legacy. “We are thrilled to share that an agreement has been reached with Josh Carroll for the purchase of Federated Auto Parts Raceway – I-55,” the Marlers stated. “While we’re still in the final stages of the process, we wanted to take a moment to express our excitement for the future under new ownership. We have no doubt that Josh will take the track to new heights, continuing its legacy and elevating it to the next level.”
Carroll, a well-known figure in the racing community from Alton, Illinois, recently joined Jeremy Sutton and Jeremy Boyer on the Dirty Right Rear Podcast to discuss his plans for Pevely, track management strategies, and upcoming events. He shared insights into his hands-on approach, detailing his experience managing Brownstown Speedway and how he navigates challenges like unpredictable weather and class structure adjustments. Notably, Carroll discussed merging Pro Mods and B Mods with performance-balancing measures to maintain fair competition.
During the podcast, Carroll outlined plans for major events at Pevely, including the World of Outlaws show and the Mods Gone Wild event. He also announced a farewell tribute to Ken Schrader and Ray Marler on April 5th, featuring custom trophies to honor their contributions to the sport. Safety improvements, such as implementing a yellow flag system during car repairs, are also in the works.
In addition to track operations, Carroll and the hosts explored how podcasts can help educate fans on racing rules and track developments. Future episodes may dive deeper into the points system and race classifications, ensuring transparency for both racers and spectators. Carroll also shared track preparation techniques, emphasizing collaboration with top racers to refine conditions for different car classes.
As the season approaches, Carroll remains focused on enhancing race-day experiences, streamlining track logistics, and fostering partnerships with neighboring speedways.
