In our 4th episode of Keeping up with Canada, we chat about Universal Basic Income and the homeless problem here in Canada.

While we have zero idea of what the actual solutions are, we truly believe there has to be better out there.

Throwing money at anything doesn’t actually solve any problems.

In fact, it truly seems to just create more problems.

It’s not always the persons fault of why they are on the streets but without giving them basic survival skills or how to balance said money, are we even sure this will help?

You don’t just give addicts money and walk away without any support of how to get clean and use that money for living.

And of course that is not all. Not even close. But without addressing why they ended up there and the root cause, UBI is only going to further this issue.

Teach a man to fish right?!

Stop throwing fish at things and teach/support those in HOW TO FISH.

Ya get what I’m saying?!

What do y’all think this could lead to?! This will not remove our tent cities. Because no matter how much money you throw, it’s not even close to enough to support people in this economy and with this inflation. Dummies. I’m looking at you CF. Be better girl. Do better for this country.

Even middle class people are one bad mistake, one crisis away from losing it all.

Is this what Canada wants for itself?!

Drop the parental guilt and shame and evaluate where you can elevate yourself so it elevates your family instead 🩷

Parents are their kids first and most important relationship 🫶🏻 you guys know what’s best for them!

What we can tell you… it’s been extremely modernized and the true meaning behind all of it seems to have gotten lost, argued about or just plain changed.

What began as celebrations or essentially safety practices, turned into big box office pissing games really.

I think the true meaning for any holiday will lie within your home. Whether you practice more traditionally or the modern version.

We just want everyone to make sure they move ahead during these holidays with pure intentions and not going broke to keep up with the Joneses.

At the core of these holidays, it should be about community and togetherness.

As long as that’s happening, these holidays should be celebrated as you wish them to be.

But we think it’s fun to go back and see why this all began and the adventure these holidays have brought over the decades.

This episode was just what we needed!

We absolutely love holistic approaches and those that truly support their patients in all aspects of their lives.

These individuals know the meaning of compassionate care and don’t just focus on one form of care or healing.

They believe there is more to healing than just one modality.

Terry Fox is one of those gems here on earth.

Terry not only practices acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and implements Chinese dietary theory with his patients, he will also hold space for the emotions that come with this form of healing.

This episode was filled with real talk about the beauty industry and the dangers of Botox from the benefits to acupuncture and all the ways Terry supports his community with his gifts and how he started.

In the next segment of keeping up with 🇨🇦 we talk about the evolution of the MAID program here.

 

Although we 100% understand the need for these services, there are some concerns we have at how far this could go.

 

In 2024, they will be reviewing if those with mental health illnesses should be eligible as well as those who currently qualify.

 

This is a deeply personal decision and one we truly believe those with no other choice should have this option but with a three month wait time, we are worried for those who may make this request by mistake.

 

Is this taking advantage of the most vulnerable individuals? Is this being set up with enough safe guards?

 

We didn’t really want to speak on this topic however we are concerned the progression of this may be a bit dangerous here.

 

We believe every person deserve to live their life and worthy of that. It just feels wrong to say that we are happy this is expanding. It’s quite devastating and sad.

 

Not entirely sure why more aren’t discussing this.

Like Bill C-11 & the possibility of us losing everything we worked for thanks to more censorship.

Like SOGI 123 and the division we’ve seen because of it.

We talk about the Million March 4 children and how so much was misrepresented.

It feels again like our country is super divided and now you have children in the mix.

Hopefully we can have some meaningful discord on both sides of the plate so people can truly work together to bring a resolution.

There’s always middle ground.

It’s just a matter of everyone taking a breather and trying to come together 🫶🏻
