In this episode I speak with Ultra Runner Kyle Clouston. We touch on some of the physical and mental aspects of what is involved in order to compete.
Founder and CEO of Naked Warrior Recovery, a CBD company focused on the recovery of veterans and first responders. He is a retired Navy SEAL with 26 years of service.
He has served on both traditional SEAL Teams, taught as a SEAL Sniper Instructor and served on Teams that specialized in undersea operations, who’s missions must be approved by the President of the United States. He led major combat operations ranging from protecting the interim Iraqi elected officials to Direct Action missions in Baghdad and across Ambar province.
After retiring from the military in 2018 he realized that he was suffering from physical and psychological symptoms that negatively impacted his well-being and quality of life. Migraines, severe anxiety, chronic pains, difficulty focusing, difficulty sleeping/falling asleep, and depression are some of the symptoms he struggled with on a daily basis.
Like so many others, he used alcohol & prescription drugs to mask the symptoms he had. Then he discovered CBD and it changed his life. It had such an impact on him he started Naked Warrior Recovery to bring the highest quality products to the market and to teach the GET NAKED! Mindset.
This episode is somewhat of a follow up to a previous episode regarding the importance of resistance training. Over the past few weeks I have been doing research and looking to get expert opinions on the subject. Fortunately, one of those experts agreed to join the podcast to help inform all of you. His journey into fitness started a very skinny kid at age 13 where he started lifting weights at home, doing whatever exercises he could learn in bodybuilding magazines or mail-order courses. Next came high school wrestling, where he got me hooked on studying human performance, sports medicine, and how to get strong. Along the way he has been a collegiate and NFL strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Bucs and Jacksonville Jaguars and he has been studying, practicing, and teaching these things ever since, and today he is going to speak to us about that journey. He has studied under some of the top strength training experts in the world, experimented with countless training methods, and come up with a training program that increases strength and muscle mass safely, with minimal time spent in the gym. His goal is to share these techniques with us to eliminate lack of strength as an excuse for not doing whatever it is you want in life.
In this episode I interview Scott DeLuzio, an Army veteran who served six years with the Connecticut Army National Guard, including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010. Scott’s brother, Steven, was also deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 with the Vermont Army National Guard. Tragically, Steven was killed in action on August 22, 2010. After returning home, Scott struggled with coping with the stresses of combat, the loss of his younger brother, and adjusting back to civilian life. In the years following Scott’s deployment, he noticed other veterans dealing with their struggles in unhealthy ways. Scott started his podcast, Drive On Podcast, to connect with current and prior service members. He interviews veterans and civilians to discuss personal triumphs, life experiences, and emotional hardships to give hope and strength to the military community.
Scott has written his book, Surviving Son: An Afghanistan War Veteran Reveals His Nightmare Of Becoming A Gold Star Brother, to share his personal story as well as that of his brother. He hopes that by sharing his story so publicly, he will encourage others to learn from his mistakes and seek the treatment they need.
In this episode I interview Beatles author, researcher, historian and filmmaker, David Bedford. He has authored many books, including, "The Fab one hundred and Four: The Evolution of the Beatles" and "Finding the Fourth Beatle". David also co-authored "The Beatles Book" with official Beatles biographer Hunter Davies and was the historian and Associate Producer on the Documentary Feature Film, "Looking for Lennon", which was nominated for a National Film Award in 2019.
In this episode we have financial planner Ron Smith on to speak about some of the basics regarding our money and some ways to be planning for our futures. We also talk to Ron about his race experiences including the Iron Man.
Bill Gaylor is a former member of the British Army from Norwich in the United Kingdom. Bill’s career in the army led him to becoming a PT Instructor for his regimen and he was also recognized as one of the top 10 fittest soldiers in 2021 during the British Army Warrior fitness competition. Now he is a business owner running his own online fitness programs. Bill is going to share his wealth of knowledge around fitness and nutrition and give some great tips.
We discus the importance of resistance training and how it impacts not only our life-span but our health-span.
