"A tap-tap-tap would sometimes be heard against a living room window. Something outside that couldn’t be seen out in the dark of the Tennessee wilderness was perhaps now looking in..."
A quote from today's second of four stories - the tale of the Bell Witch. This early 19th century Tennessee story about a malicious, spiteful spirit rumored to have antagonized the Bell family and many others around them for several years is one of America's most famous paranormal horror accounts. The first story is an encounter with New Mexico's La Mala Hora - the "Evil Hour" also known as "The Evil One," a spirit you don't want to drive past at a crossroads. And then Lynze shares two interesting accounts that lend far too much credence to the possibility that the things that go bump in the night exist in more than our imaginations.

Opening Sumerian protection spell (adapted):
"Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened. Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH."
