  • 008 - Your Story Matters, So Share It | Dude Make Something: Stop Living Mediocre and Become Excellent | Personal Development, Mental Health, Black Men

Sometimes we can feel like our thoughts, feelings, and stories don't matter. Especially, if we're not famous...or feel like we haven't done anything of importance. Well...that's not true. Your story, your words, your feelings, and your thoughts matter. So...share it. Or, at least express it creatively.

You ever feel stuck, drained, frustrated, or overwhelmed?

Struggling to find a healthy way to deal with the stress of life?

You might need to use that energy to create something.

Welcome to the "Dude, Make Something Podcast: Stop Living Mediocre and Become Excellent" where every week I'll encourage you to create something to help your mental health. Each episode I'm sharing advice on how to keep creativity alive in your life, why it's important to do so, and how it can help you to live better.

The goal is to help black men to protect and cultivate their creativity so they can be healthier for themselves, their relationships, families, and community.

Having a creative outlet is definitely a great thing to have, but so is counseling and therapy. I'd recommend Betterhelp.com and Whole Brother Mission for affordable counseling solutions. There's no shame in getting help. Remember you gotta be good for you so you can be of some good to those you care about.

  • 005 - Entertainment and Creating are NOT the same | Dude Make Something: Stop Living Mediocre and Become Excellent | Personal Development, Mental Health, Black Men

Often times we may turn to entertainment to help deal with our stress and internal problems. I don't think it's as helpful as we may think...

In this episode I discuss how entertainment doesn't give you the same results as actually creating or making something.

  • 003 - Vices Are Not a Good Outlet | Personal Development, Mental Health, Black Men

There are so many different ways to deal with stress: exercise, taking a nap, creating something, but very often we can choose to turn to a vice to try and deal with our problems.

Whether it's alcohol, drugs, or even sex, it's easier to find something to numb the pain and pressure rather than actually dealing with it.

In this episode I share some thoughts on why it's not such a good idea to depend on vices to deal with stress. I also encourage you to use creativity in its place.
