Bernie Miklasz discusses the Cubs 13-3 surge since the All-Star break and why their emergence should make the Cardinals trade deadline more clear. Especially considering the trade they pulled off last night.
Bernie still has a hard time understanding why there are so many oblivious to the reality that Trevor Rosenthal is an asset to the Cardinals as their closer this year and in the future, unless a trade is made. He details his impressive numbers this season and why only if they are blown away should they deal him.
Bob Nightengale joined Bernie Miklasz to talk about the Cardinals, their trade deadline assets, Trevor Rosenthal, the Cubs trade, where Milwaukee stands, why the Pirates won't sell, thoughts on Lance Lynn's free agency value, and why the Cardinals could be the "most fascinating team" this offseason.
Part II of the Mike Matheny / Yadier Molina spat has Bernie talking about the idea of trading Carson Kelly. He says forget the idea of trading Kelly. Molina is in decline. Molina is all beat up. He's under contract through 2020 so what will he look like over the next three years? Won't be pretty. Molina wants to play all the time, and that's the reality. But it isn't a reason to trade Kelly. That would be incredibly stupid.
