  • Timberwolves Eliminate Nuggets In Game 6, Minnesota Advances As Denver Nuggets Face Big Questions

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the Minnesota Timberwolves’ statement Game 6 win over the Denver Nuggets and what it means for both teams moving forward.

In last night’s NBA playoff action, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 115-98 in Game 6, closing out the series and advancing to the next round. From the opening tip, Minnesota set the tone with physical defense and efficient offense, building an early lead and maintaining control throughout the night.

The Timberwolves dominated key areas, outscoring Denver in the paint, controlling the boards and capitalizing on turnovers to create easy scoring opportunities. Every time the Nuggets tried to make a push, Minnesota responded with timely runs that kept the game out of reach. Minnesota's win is especially impressive because of the absence of Anthony Edwards, Donte DiVincenzo and Ayo Dosunmu.

On the other side, Denver’s struggles were impossible to ignore. The Nuggets battled inconsistent shot selection, defensive breakdowns and a lack of effective adjustments in a must-win game. With the series now decided, what does this statement win mean for Minnesota moving forward? Do the Timberwolves now have the momentum and the makeup to make a serious run to the NBA Finals? How do they matchup against the Spurs? And for Denver, how does this early exit reshape expectations heading into next season? What does this elimination say about Jokic?

  • New York Knicks Dominate Atlanta Hawks In Historic Game 6 Blowout

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the Knicks demolition of the Atlanta Hawks in Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs.

In last night’s NBA playoff action, the New York Knicks obliterated the Atlanta Hawks 140-89, delivering one of the most lopsided postseason performances in recent memory. From the opening tip, New York set the tone with relentless defense and red-hot shooting, building a double-digit lead within minutes and never looking back.

The Knicks dominated in every phase of the game, outscoring the Hawks in the paint, controlling the boards and capitalizing on turnovers. On the other side, Atlanta’s struggles are impossible to ignore. The Hawks struggled in every phase last night. From a poor shot selection, defensive breakdowns and a lack of adjustments as key factors in the Hawks’ collapse. What does this dominant performance mean for the Knicks as they advance? Are they the favorite to make the NBA Finals?

  • NBA: Lakers Lose Game 5 - Did The Lakers Lose Because They Didn't Play Bronny James?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss how the Lakers squandered a chance to close out the series against Houston and debate whether Los Angeles’ late-series struggles are more about execution and adjustments than rotation choices like Bronny James not playing or Austin Reaves returning from injury.

The Los Angeles Lakers missed a chance to close out their series, falling 99-93 to the Houston Rockets in Game 5 last night as Houston staved off elimination for the second straight game.  LeBron James scored 25 points and Austin Reaves added 22 points in his return from an oblique injury that kept him out the last 9 games of the regular season. The loss is notable because Los Angeles had been up 3-1 and even 3-0 earlier in the series, putting them in prime position to advance, but Houston’s defensive pressure and improved three-point shooting have shifted the tone. Now the series sits at 3-2, with Game 6 heading back to Houston, meaning the Lakers still control things but have lost momentum and now face real pressure to avoid what would be a historic collapse if the Rockets continue their comeback push. Did the Lakers lose because they didn't play Bronny James? Did Austin Reaves return hurt the Lakers?

  • Should Deshaun Watson Be The Browns Starting QB? + Why Did Diego Pavia Go Undrafted?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Diego Pavia going undrafted after he recently signed a 3-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens and debate if Deshaun Watson should be the starter for the Cleveland Browns to open the season.

Diego Pavia went undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft. Pavia going undrafted mostly comes down to how NFL teams evaluated his traits versus his production. Pavia was productive and highly competitive at New Mexico State and Vanderbilt, but scouts tend to prioritize prototypical quarterback measurables like size, arm strength, and polished pocket mechanics. At around 6 feet tall with more of an improvisational style, Pavia was seen as a projection rather than a ready-made NFL starter. There were also concerns about his demeanor and attitude which may have led to Pavia going undrafted. However, Pavia revently signed a 3-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Was it unfair for Pavia to go undrafted?

The Cleveland Browns are still holding an open quarterback competition, with Deshaun Watson currently considered the early frontrunner to start but not officially named the Week 1 starter. Under new head coach Todd Monken, the team has emphasized competition through offseason workouts and minicamp, with a final decision expected closer to training camp. Watson holds an advantage due to his experience and familiarity with the organization and early reports suggest he has taken the lead in the quarterback battle over younger options. Will Watson be the starter to open the season? Should he be?

  • NCAA Moves Toward 76-Team Tournament Expansion: Does Anyone Want This?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss the potential impact of the NCAA’s proposed expansion on the future of March Madness, including how it could change tournament structure, competitiveness and opportunities for teams.

The NCAA is moving toward expanding both the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments from 68 to 76 teams, with a decision expected soon and implementation possibly as early as the 2026-27 season. The proposed format would add eight additional teams and significantly expand the opening round. Instead of the current “First Four,” 24 teams would compete in 12 play-in games, likely held across multiple sites rather than just one location. The winners of those games would advance to join the rest of the field in the traditional 64-team bracket. This would mark the first tournament expansion since 2011 and reflects growing support from NCAA leadership and major conferences. While proponents argue the change creates more opportunities for teams, critics believe it could dilute the quality and intensity that define March Madness. What does the Sports Shop crew think? Is this a good idea? Does anyone want this?

  • NBA Anti-Tanking Push: Can the League Really Reduce Tanking?

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss whether the NBA’s anti-tanking efforts and debate if the league can ever fully eliminate incentives to lose while still preserving a fair path for struggling franchises to rebuild through the draft.

Anti-tanking measures in the NBA are designed to discourage teams from deliberately losing games to improve their draft position. The league, under commissioner Adam Silver, has tried to curb this by flattening the lottery odds so the worst teams are no longer guaranteed the best chances at the No. 1 pick, reducing the incentive to bottom out completely. Changes like the introduction of the play-in tournament have also kept more teams competitive later into the season, shrinking the pool of franchises with reason to tank. Still, the issue hasn’t disappeared. Ultimately, anti-tanking efforts are about balancing fairness and strategy: ensuring teams remain motivated to compete while still allowing struggling franchises a realistic path to rebuild through the draft. Will this work? Will it reduce tanking?

  • NBA Playoffs: Pistons Stay Alive Behind Cade’s 45, Lakers Squander Closeout Opportunity, Cleveland Takes 3-2 Lead

Reese, Pam and Alex discuss the Pistons forcing a Game 6 behind Cade Cunningham’s 45-point explosion to keep their season alive, the Rockets continuing their comeback push by beating the Lakers in Game 5 to trim the series to 3-2 and the Cavaliers holding off the Raptors in a close-out attempt to move one win away from advancing to Round 2.

The Detroit Pistons kept their season alive with a 116-109 win over the Orlando Magic in Game 5 last night powered by a spectacular 45-point performance from Cade Cunningham. In a true star duel, Paolo Banchero matched him with 45 of his own, but Detroit’s supporting cast helped maintain control throughout. The Pistons never trailed, though Orlando kept things close into the fourth quarter before Cunningham’s late shot-making and Detroit’s composure sealed the outcome. The win came under immense pressure, as the Pistons, despite being the No. 1 seed with a 60-win season, had fallen into a shocking 3-1 series deficit against the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic. That hole was largely the result of inconsistent offense, turnovers, and Orlando’s physical defense disrupting Detroit’s rhythm, along with the absence of Franz Wagner for the Magic due to injury. By winning Game 5, the Detroit Pistons trimmed the series to 3-2 and shifted some momentum back in their favor, though Orlando still controls the series and will have another chance to close it out at home in Game 6. Who will win Game 6?

The Cleveland Cavaliers kept their season alive with a Game 5 win over the Toronto Raptors. By taking the win, Cleveland pushed Toronto to the brink of elimination while moving one step closer to advancing, while the Raptors now face a must-win Game 6.

  • NFL Draft: Why Did the Rams Draft Ty Simpson 13th Overall? Was It A Surprise?

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the surprise selection of Ty Simpson by the Los Angeles Rams at No. 13 in the 2026 NFL Draft, including reports of secret pre-draft meetings with Sean McVay and what those conversations might reveal about the team’s long-term plans at quarterback.

The situation around Ty Simpson and the Los Angeles Rams is one of the bigger surprises of the 2026 NFL Draft. Simpson was selected 13th overall, which caught many off guard given the Rams already have Matthew Stafford and weren’t widely expected to take a quarterback that early. Reports also indicate that Simpson and head coach Sean McVay held “secret meetings” during the pre-draft process. Those conversations were kept quiet to avoid other teams realizing how interested the Rams were, which may explain why the pick came as a surprise on draft night. Simpson later confirmed those meetings took place. What really happened?
