You know that feeling when you're standing on the edge of a pool, and you *know* the deep end is going to be cold, maybe even a little uncomfortable? But you also know you’ve gotta jump in? That’s pretty much what Luke 5:1-11 is all about.
In today’s episode, we’re breaking down how Jesus told Simon Peter to get uncomfortable and go out to the deep waters, even after a night of catching nothing. And guess what? Simon *didn’t* want to—who would after a long, frustrating night? But because he trusted Jesus, the blessing that came next was beyond what he could’ve imagined.
As Christian businesswomen, we’re often called to go deeper too. We want the success, but we don’t always want the deep end that comes with it—the risk, the unknowns, the fear. But what if that’s exactly where God has your breakthrough waiting? Today, we're talking about why the blessing isn’t in the shallow end and how you can trust God even when the water feels murky and you're not sure what's under you.
TAKE AWAYS:
1. Obedience Isn’t Always Comfortable – Simon was tired and over it, but he trusted Jesus and let down the nets again. What uncomfortable thing is God asking you to do in your business that you’re resisting?
2. The Deep End Holds the Blessing – Peter didn’t find his abundance in the shallow, safe waters. Sometimes, you’ve got to take that uncomfortable dive into the deep to experience the success God has waiting for you.
3. Dealing with the Fear Factor – The unknown can be terrifying, but faith calls us to act anyway. How are you handling those moments when fear is screaming louder than your faith?
4. Letting Go of Your Safety Net – We love control, right? But growth doesn’t happen when you’re clinging to what feels safe. We’re talking about what it looks like to release your grip on control and trust God’s bigger plan for your business.
SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:
Luke 5:1-11 – Jesus tells Simon Peter to go deeper, and even though Simon hesitates, he obeys. The result? A catch so huge, his nets almost broke. It’s a story that shows us just how much God can do when we’re willing to get uncomfortable and trust Him in the deep.
CALL TO ACTION:
It’s time to stop playing it safe and start trusting that God’s got something amazing for you on the other side of the deep end. Share this episode with another boss lady who needs to hear this, and make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss any future episodes!

In this episode of Her Faith at Work, I sit down with copywriting expert Heather Crouch to dig into the art of persuasive writing, how to craft compelling content, and how we can use AI as a helpful tool without losing our authentic voice. Heather shares her journey from sales copywriting to full-time freelance work and talks about why knowing your audience is the key to writing copy that converts.
GUEST BIO:
Heather Crouch is a freelance copywriter with a passion for helping businesses create persuasive and intentional messaging. With over a year of official copywriting experience—and many more years crafting persuasive sales copy—Heather’s goal is to help businesses, especially those with Christian values, connect with their audience in a meaningful way. She specializes in digital copy for websites, emails, social media and more.
KEY POINTS:
Copywriting vs. Content Creation: Heather breaks down the difference between content (meant to educate or inspire) and copy (designed to drive action with a clear call to action).
The Power of Knowing Your Audience: Understanding who you're writing for is crucial to effective copywriting. Heather explains how knowing your target audience helps create personalized, compelling messages.
Using AI in Copywriting: Heather shares how AI tools like ChatGPT can be great for getting a draft started but reminds us that the human touch is essential for polishing the final copy.
Call to Action Tips: Heather gives us the AIDA method and explains how a clear, targeted call to action can make or break your copy.
QUOTES TO REMEMBER:
1. "Writing with intention instead of just posting for the sake of it is the real game changer."
2. "Your copy should inspire action—whether it's clicking a link, signing up for a newsletter, or making a purchase."
3. "AI is a great tool for getting started, but your brand’s voice is what truly makes the difference in connecting with your audience."

You may think you know the Bible story of the Feeding of the 5000. But I'm not sure you have ever heard it put quite this way before. I know I hadn't.
My prayer is that it challenges you to take everything you have and put it in the hands of Jesus for him to multiply.
