Hey! Have you heard there's an election coming up?

  • Get Clear on Your Vision

If you don't know where you're going, how will you know how to get there?

This is precisely the reason one of the MOST important things you can do in your life and business, is get clear on your VISION. Brace yourself: we're not talking short-term, play-it-safe goals here -- we're talking long-term, makes you feel like you're going to puke, big-time dreams.

On today's episode guest Kelly Brock takes us through the art of VISIONEERING so we can clear the path to start moving toward that dream.

Kelly is everything you think of when you think of a successful leader. On the surface, she had it all together. She had been running a successful network marketing business for more than a decade and was highly respected in the field. But on the inside, she was struggling. She had become so addicted to achievement that she was neglecting her relationships and my health. And that’s when her body forced her to stop. Creator of the Anxious Achiever Project and Peaceful Performer Business Coaching programs, she knows that it is possible to live a life of both peace and profit and she is here to share it with as many women as possible! Follow her story on Instagram so you can get more info on the Peace Posse!

Kelly is my personal coach and friend and I've learned so much in our journey together. So much that I'm now ready (or not!?) to take the next step in my leadership journey and start teaching women in a more intimate setting how they can design a brand of leadership that is completely authentic and in alignment with who they were created to be. • lead from the middle

All too often we talk about LEADERSHIP as if we're always at the top of the mountain... but that isn't always the case, is it? So how do you balance the requirements put on you by senior leaders with the needs of your team? How do you lead from the middle, from a position of power?

We're going all in on middle management today and learning three steps that can help you not feel stuck on your way to your next position:

    1. know two languages
    2. give & take
    3. influence

Sounds easy enough, right? Listen for all the details because it really isn't as hard as you might think to lead powerfully from the middle!

  • Live Your GOOD Life

Reduced stress, improved memory function, strengthened emotional response...

If I told you that you could have all of that (and more!) by implementing one small habit, would you go for it? Or would you tell me I'm crazy?

Well, there's psychological research that proves that you can have less stress, better memory, and more level emotions by simply picking up a pen and writing. That's right: journaling. I know. Once upon a time, I didn't believe in that BS either... enter my friend Amy Berry...

Amy is a wife, a mom, an adult dance fitness instructor, a friend, and a woman who loves to inspire and empower women -- so much so she created the Worthy Heart Blog and The Good Life journal. After enduring quite a bit of trauma, Amy figured out a four step process to living The Good Life. The Good Life focus is on God, Ourselves, Others, and Divine Happenings. Amy firmly believes that by incorporating these four points in our lives daily, we too can have The Good Life while walking out our unique purpose bodly and confidently.

For daily inspiration, journaling tips, and belly laughs, follow Amy on instagram or join the Flocking Good Life group on Facebook.

Do you journal? What other habits do you hold to up-level yourself? I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you share on social media, tag #beyondleadershippodcast and be sure to tag me (I'm @saramaeski on instagram).

  • Don't Do It Yourself

DELEGATE. Such a dirty word for Type A entrepreneurs + leaders because, you know what? We can just do it better + faster ourselves, can't we?

Sounds like me... does it sound like you too? Hopefully not after this episode! We're diving deep into the realm of delegation: why we don't do it, why we should do it, and how to do it right. Letting go and giving others the authority to solve organizational problems for you is going to make you a better leader and an all around better person to be around -- you with me?

What are you going to start delegating today? And what's the reason you haven't in the past? I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you share on social media, tag #beyondleadershippodcast and be sure to tag me (I'm @saramaeski on instagram).

I'll be back next Thursday with another amazing guest but if you're looking for a way to connect with like-minded and like-hearted leaders in between episodes, check out our Beyond Leadership Community on Facebook.

  • Be a Better Ally with Joy Farley

This conversation was way too good to edit down!

My friend Joy Farley joined me to start this conversation on racism. What can I do as a white woman with a primarily white community do to be a better ally? How can white leaders lead actually consider their whiteness and lead at THIS turning point in history?

Her answer? Be courageous. Be an ally (and we talk about what that means!). Show empathy. Take a look in the mirror. Ask the hard questions. Learn. These are conversations we need to be having in order to move the world forward. No, they're not comfortable -- but if you're comfortable, you're not growing!

After you listen, let's continue the conversation over on Instagram!

    Until next time... LET'S GO!

  • Normalize the Abnormal

Learning how to live and lead in a pandemic is hard -- but there are simple things we can do to make the process a lot easier on ourselves.

In this episode I discuss easy ways to get through this by supporting your team's work and supporting your team mentally + emotionally. Simple, basic solutions in a time of crisis instead of further complicating an already complicated situation. Combine these solutions with a little bit of transparency and a whole lot of empathy and you'll end up on the right side of history when this thing is over.

Let me know over on social media what you're going to be implementing in your organization to help you through the rest of the year.

  • Understand Your Team with One Question

Want to know the most powerful question you can ask your team to get to know their strengths, weaknesses, desires, and preferred communication style? Hint: it's not even a real question.

I'm incredibly passionate about knowing your team because I truly believe that you won't be able to work with them until you understand who they are as people -- not just employees or coworkers. With this one simple non-question, you will be able to discover everything you need to know if you just let them talk and listen.

This question is #1 in my Five Questions for Exceptional Leaders training that you can get for free here: https://www.saramaeco.com/freebies
