The Bible Speaks to You: Think, Pray, Love like Jesus episodes

  • 371 – The Blessings that Come When You Let Jesus Upset Your Apple Cart

371 – Are you willing to let Jesus upset your apple cart?

What happened to you the first time you encountered Christ?

Or maybe a better way to ask it: What happened to you first time you took the message of Jesus seriously, accepted it, and tried to live it in your life?

When you accept Christ into your life, it should have a profound effect on you. Something changes.

The commitment to follow Christ gives you a whole new perspective on life, no matter what your circumstances were before. And there are so many blessings that come as a result.

But sometimes it seems that following Jesus can turn your life upside down.

In this week’s episode, we’re going to look at a few folks in the Bible whose lives Jesus turned upside down and inside out and the blessings that came as a result.

    • Peter and Andrew, James and John from fishermen to apostles
    • Peter got his "apple cart" turned upside down more than once
    • James and John had to let go of pride and the desire for high office

And we’ll talk about how you are blessed as well, when you let Jesus reorganize your priorities.

There's nothing to be afraid of when Christ upsets your old way of life. It empties your heart of the things and thoughts that aren't from God.

As a result, you are closer to God, more like Jesus, and you find the spiritual freedom to be all God made you to be.

  • 370 – It’s Never Too Late for God to Work in Your Life

370 – Have you ever felt it's too late to do what God wants you to do with your life?

...that you missed the opportunity God gave you?

Or maybe you never got a clear message from God about what your purpose was. Or maybe you have heard God’s voice tell you exactly what to do, but you haven’t done it for whatever reason.

And now it feels too late to start, to try again, or get back on track. Or you’ve waited too long to do what God told you years ago.

Then this episode is for you.

We’re going to look at some folks in the Bible who were used by God to accomplish important things when it seemed life has passed them by or they were too advanced in years to have much to offer.

    • Abraham and Sarah
    • Joseph
    • King Manasseh
    • Elizabeth and Zacharias
    • The servant who received one talent and buried it in the ground

What was true for them is true for you.

God is using you right now, preparing you for something purposeful and increasing the sense of purpose in your life. And it’s never too late for God to work in your life.

  • 369 – The Biblical Basis for Your Spirituality

369 – Where does your spirituality come from?

Have you noticed? A lot of people these days are talking about spirituality, but they don't all mean the same thing when they use the word spiritual (or spirituality).

What is spirituality? Where does it come from?

Is it something you make happen?

Or is it something that's already there, but you have to discover?

    In this week's episode:

    • The Biblical basis for your spirituality
    • How to become more aware of your spirituality
    • How to live your spirituality on a daily basis
    • How to resist temptation
    • What to do when you feel your spirituality is compromised
    • What to do when your spirituality is attacked or opposed

The Biblical basis for your spiritual identity is the fact you are the image and likeness of God.

Nothing can change that. No mistakes you make, nothing anyone does or says, no circumstances can change the way God originally created you in His image and likeness.

Your spirituality is your heritage and birthright.

  • 368 – Nothing Can Separate You from the Love of God

368 – It's true, nothing can separate you from God's love

Have you ever felt separated from God? Maybe because you did something you know you shouldn’t have, or maybe something traumatic happened you had no control over.

Or it could just be a feeling you have for whatever reason.

When God seems far away, it’s hard to know what to do or where to turn for help.

In this episode, we’re going to dig into the stories of several people in the Bible who found themselves in really tough uncomfortable situations but knew God was with them even in those darkest hours, days, and years.

    • Joseph
    • King David
    • Jesus
    • Paul

And I have a confession to make in this episode.

No matter what you’re going through right now, nothing can separate you from the love of God.

  • 367 – The Benefit of Letting God into Every Nook and Cranny of Your Life

367 – Are you letting God into every part of your life?

Or do you let God only into some parts of your life?

There's no need to be hesitant to open up completely to God. You don't need to be afraid of something you've hidden deep inside you.

Your past mistakes and insecurities, any doubts and fears you may be embarrassed about or ashamed of, are no match for God's love for you.

    In this week's episode:

    • The joy of letting God into every part of your life
    • The freedom and peace of mind that come when you quit trying to hide anything from God
    • Loving God with all your heart, soul and mind
    • Steps you can take to let God have full access to your heart and life
    • The blessings that come when you do this

Letting God into every nook and cranny of your life, you’ll discover things you never knew were possible.

You’ll see God’s love in everything you do and with everyone you meet. You’ll be where God wants you to be. You’ll say what God wants you to say, maybe without even realizing it. You will do what God wants you to do.

You will be blessed and you’ll be a blessing to others in the process.

  • 366 – The Transforming Power of Knowing Your Spiritual Identity

366 – What is your spiritual identity?

How do you figure out what it is or what it even means? And why do Christians make such a big deal out of this?

In this week’s episode I’m talking with Clint Riggin about why understanding who you are spiritually is so important and the freedom it brings to your life. We talk about:

    • What it actually means to surrender your will to God's will
    • The only real way to discover your spiritual identity
    • What your relationship with God has to do with it
    • Why it's so hard to give up our own will
    • Why being alone with God helps you discover who you are
    • And so much more...

BONUS: At the end, Clint answers these three questions:

    1. If you could talk to anyone in the Bible except for Jesus who would it be and what would you ask them?
    2. Who do you identify with in the Bible?
    3. What is Jesus's original message to us about how he wants us to live our lives?

  • 365 – The Biblical Fate of Corrupt Leaders

365 – What will be the fate of today's corrupt leaders?

When will justice catch up with them?

Are the standards of integrity, honestly, and love for God and mankind out of date?

When will the moral and spiritual laws of God take their rightful place in the life of nations and the world?

In this week’s episode, we’re going to take a look at several leaders in the Bible who blatantly disregarded God’s laws.

The Bible gives us a preview of what could happen to corrupt leaders today, based on what happened to corrupt leaders back then. We look at:

    • Ahab, King of Israel, more evil than any of the kings before him
    • Nebuchadnezzar, who repented and was restored to his kingdom
    • The untimely death of Herod Agrippa I, who killed the Apostle James
    • Zacchaeus, a rich tax collector, who was influenced by Jesus to change his dishonest way of living
    • The religious authorities of Jesus's day

Never underestimate the power of your prayers to help bring evil and evil doers out of their hiding places to be brought to justice and to establish in the power of God’s law of truth, love, justice, and righteousness to take their rightful place in the world.

  • 364 – How to Love Jesus More than Ever

364 – How can you show Jesus how much you love him?

There are so many ways to show someone you love them.

    • You can tell them directly: I love you
    • You can show your love by how you act and how you treat them
    • You can listen to get to  know them better
    • You might give them something or do something for them
    • Or just spend time with them

Now think of how these things apply to how you love Jesus.

But Jesus isn't here in person the way he was 2,000 years ago. So how can you show Jesus you love him?

    In this week's episode:

    • The best way to show your love for Jesus is to obey his commandments
    • What is true obedience?
    • How will Jesus know you love him? By how you treat others
    • Focus on one command of Jesus you're not obeying right now, like forgiveness
    • Forgive that person who is hard to forgive
    • Find one person who is hard to love and love them the way you would love Jesus. Treat them the way you would treat Jesus

The more you obey Jesus and love people the way you love Jesus, the more you become like him and the more you will show your love for him.

At some point you will no longer wonder how to love Jesus more, because you’ll be doing it and others will learn how to love Jesus by your example.

  • 363 – When All Hope Is Lost, the Resurrection Comes

363 – What do you do when all hope is lost?

Have you ever been in a situation where the outcome was exactly the opposite of what your hopes and expectations were? Things just went from bad to worse.

You poured out your heart to God in prayer, but it didn’t really seem to do much good. Everything kept getting worse until it was all over and there wasn’t even a glimmer of hope.

But then, in the most amazing and unexpected way, things turned around and you found more joy and hope than you could have ever imagined possible?

Well, that’s what the Easter story is all about.

    This week:

    • How did the disciples feel watching Jesus on the cross?
    • Why did some get close to the cross and others stay far away?
    • Where would you have been?
    • Why didn't Jesus's disciples hear him when he said he would rise on the 3rd day?
    • What is Christ telling you that you don't hear?

When it seems all hope is lost, the resurrection is right around the corner. Christ gives you eternal life and hope and nothing can take them from you.
