Have you ever read a book and just felt really disappointed, bored, unsatisfied, or even angry afterwards? Especially a book you went into with such high hopes for because of the synopsis, the author, or because bookstagram/booktok swears by said book? Well bookish babes, WE FEEL YOU. Allie and Meg take this week to discuss some books that flopped for them in 2021 (womp womp womp). The ladies may name some fan favorites, so apologies in advance. Sit back, have a Floptail cocktail of the week, and let us know if you agree with any of our flops.
It's episode twenty-freaking-five and the ladies hold nothing back this week as they fully discuss the first two books of the popular book series they think you may have heard of. A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury are the first two installments of a new adult fantasy series written by Sarah J Maas. Meg has been waiting for the day that Allie was ready to sit down and talk about everything that is the ACOTAR series...however the ladies may have gotten carried away. Instead of reviewing the whole series in a timely fashion, they got through the first two books only. Blame it on poor time management, or the Starfall martinis, or the fact that these are amazing stories that needed a deep dive. Whatever the case, this is an awesome 25th episode and they'll be back in the near future to get the job done!
Get ready for a book / movie double header review bookish babes! This week, Allie gives her full, spoiler-filled review of the popular thriller, The Woman in the Window. The ladies then proceed to review the Netflix movie adaptation and compare the book to its movie counterpart. Sip on your "the book was better" cocktail while Meg and Allie discuss whether or not the book was actually better. As always there is something fun planned for next week, which happens to be the big 25th episode. Happy reading and even happier listening!
Whatup bookish babes, and welcome to a completely different episode than the ladies have ever done before! Meg and Allie are back in NJ, but are still experiencing the vacay blues upon their return home from Nashville. The first half of the episode is spent re-living the drunken shenanigans that went down last weekend including new tattoos, broken bones, lots of shots, rooftop bars, and of course some light reading! Next, Meg gives a full review (with spoilers) and rating of the very popular summer read of 2021, People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry. Take some Sunny D shots along with us...you're going to need it for this one!
Hello bookish babes, and welcome to double the trouble for episode 22 as the ladies discuss DUOLOGIES! Allie completed Fable and Namesake, while Meg sobbed her way through The Bridge Kingdom and The Traitor Queen. This episode is *SPOILER-FREE* for all four books discussed. Sip on your Tequila Tempest and get ready for some adventure. The episode concludes with a few bookish announcements as well as new book assignments for the following week!
Don't let the title of the episode scare you off bookish babes, you can't get rid of us that easily! This week is a special episode because it marks the conclusion of the Throne of Glass series for Allie, as well as the Touch of Darkness series for Meg (until book 4 comes out, that is). Meg reviews all 3 books, A Touch of Darkness/Ruin/Malice WITH SPOILERS, while Allie gives her SPOILER-FREE review of Kingdom of Ash and the TOG series as a whole. Sip on your Finale cocktail and enjoy! As always, the episode concludes with new book assignments for next week. Happy reading and even happier listening!
Hello bookish babes and welcome to a very special episode of The Bibliofiles! For episode 20, Allie and Meg sip on their Bibliofiles Special cocktails and each talk about their top 10 favorite books of all time. The ladies are given 30 seconds and one direct quote per book to convince you to read some of their favorites. No spoilers, so whether or not you have read these books you can still enjoy the episode! As always, new assignments are given for the following week.
Hello bookish babes! Welcome to another Sunday full of Allie and Meg talking their latest fantasy reads. Hello bookish babes, and welcome back to another special episode dedicated to two of the ladies' favorite authors: Colleen Hoover and Riley Sager! Throughout the episode, Allie and Meg discuss/review the books Ugly Love and new release, Survive the Night with spoilers. Sip on your Novel Collins cocktail and have your heart broken by Ugly Love, only to have it put back together and racing from Survive the Night! The ladies finish the episode with new fantasy book assignments for next week. Happy brunching and reading!
Buckle up bookish babes because this is not only a very thrilling and twisted episode, but likely our drunkest episode yet. The ladies sip on their Good Old Fashioned Plot Twists and discuss author Alex Michaelides' novels The Silent Patient and The Maidens with special guest star and good friend Kait. She's been dying to come on the podcast so Allie and Meg finally decided to appease her (don't worry, she's a really good time). Both books are discussed WITH SPOILERS and the ladies finish the episode with new Colleen Hoover and Riley Sager assignments for next week.
