January 21, 2022@KellyInPhoenix Talks AZ Cardinals WC Playoff RecapIn this episode, @KellyInPhoenix and I talk how the LA Rams best her Arizona Cardinals 34-11 in Monday's Super WildCard meeting. Going into Monday's game, Kelly felt confident her Cardinals could replicate their Week road win over the Rams. This was one of Arizona's NFL-high eight road wins. In both meetings, the Cards won in LA while LA won in Glendale. Kelly felt frustrated and a little disappointed how the Cards played after starting off the 2021 season well. She also explains how the Cards lack of playoff experience hurt Arizona. Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray looked shaky in playoff debut - completing 19-of-34 passes for 134 yards and two interceptions; one was retuned for a #PickSix. I bring up how several stars and legends including Peyton Manning, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen struggled in their playoff debuts. Despite a bad playoff game, we both have faith and would give Kyler a monster extension as leader for the next decade or so. We also look at Arizona's defensive strategy in doubling star slot receiver Cooper Kupp. With Kupp seeing multiple defenders, Odell Beckham made multiple big catches and one big throw. We then debate Arizona's coaching game plan. Kelly was mad Arizona did not push for more points going into halftime. We also debate Kliff Kingsbury's performance in his NFL playoff coaching debate. We also discuss whether injured DeAndre Hopkins would have made a difference in Monday's loss to the Rams. With Arizona's season over, we talk what positions the Cards should address in free agency and the NFL Draft. With Kyler not tall, I figure he needs a strong offensive line like Saints legend Drew Brees received for 15 seasons in New Orleans. Secondary could be another key area for the Cardinals to address. Kelly is intrigued how Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Bills star Josh Allen play in the Divisional Round...more26minPlay
January 18, 2022Super WildCard Weekend Recap with Alex BleuelIn this episode, Alex Bleuel and I recap Super WildCard Weekend. First, we look at another classic playoff showdown between the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, which SF won 23-17. For Dallas, the No. 14 proved to be very unlucky. Not only did Dallas commit 14 penalties, but the Cowboys were unable to spike the ball after Dak Prescott's QB sneak. We did not understand running an odd QB sneak without any timeouts and no room for mistakes. We also look at the struggles for Dak and SF's Jimmy Garoppolo. After the 49ers-Cowboys chat, we look back the first Cincinnati Bengals playoff win in 31 years over the Las Vegas Raiders. We look at the continued domination of Cincy's dynamic duo - Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase. The former LSU teammates connected with each other nine times on 12 targets. We also look back at a crazy season for the Raiders, which came to an end Saturday night. We look back a pair of great quarterback displays from this weekend's slate. First, we look at how Josh Allen and the Bills handled the New England Patriots in frigid Orchard Park. In that game, Buffalo scored seven touchdowns without punting, kicking a field goal, or committing a turnover. Allen also torched the Pats for five TDs in his best playoff performance. Alex unloads on what he feels is an overrated NE football team. Then we look at Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes throwing for over 400 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-21 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. We look at how KC handled a slow start before its offense heating up throughout the game. We then discuss how the Rams and Bucs won to setup their playoff meeting on Sunday in Tampa. Finally, we each pick who will have the biggest say during the Divisional Round. Alex picks Tennessee running back Derrick Henry coming back from a foot injury. I pick Buffalo's running back Devin Singletary. In a game likely to see plenty of scoring, Singletary's recent surge could give the Bills the edge to win in KC. ...more37minPlay

January 15, 2022DMIC Media talks Weather Impacting Super WildCard WeekendIn this episode, DMIC and I talk how weather will impact Super WildCard Weekend slate this weekend. Dennis explains how cold, windy weather can make it very miserable for the players. He also explains how a strong crosswind affects the game the most. This weekend, there are multiple games where weather will affect the outcomes. In the New England Patriots-Buffalo Bills game, the temperature will be around 10 degrees with a negative wind chill. Unlike most games in Western NY, wind is likely not going to impact this game, but fans and players will have brutally cold weather tomorrow night. In Sunday's afternoon tilt between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Bucs, the game is likely to see rain and strong wind. While temperature will not be a problem in Florida, the wind will alter the passing and kicking games. I also bring up how the Bucs rely on the passing game - meaning Philly's strong rushing attack could hang around this game. With Dennis being a Chiefs fan, we look at how Arrowhead Stadium's design allows wind to affect the game more than most outdoor venues. With some wind heading to KC on Sunday night, this stadium could be in line for a windy game. We then remember some of our most memorable weather games. Dennis remembers when the Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys played a snowy Thanksgiving game in 1993. That game, Cowboys linemen Leon Lett could not recover a blocked field goal - giving Miami a win over the Cowboys. Dennis Also tells me how he was in Chicago for the infamous Fog Bowl between the Eagles and Chicago Bears. I bring up a famous 2017 snow game between the Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills where Frank Gore and LeSean McCoy rushed 68 times for 286 yards. Finally, we look at whether Bills quarterback Josh Allen can handle the frigid weather against the Patriots tomorrow night. While Allen has historically struggled in below-freezing temperatures, both of us are confident Allen will play well in Orchard Park tomorrow night. We also believe Allen's legs will be a bigger factor with the cold temperatures likely impacting Buffalo's passing attack. We also look at whether the Bengals can win their first playoff game in 31 years against the Las Vegas Raiders tomorrow night. ...more34minPlay
January 11, 2022Week 18 Review with Alex BleuelIn this episode, Alex Bleuel and I recap a crazy and historic Week 18, which saw three overtime classics to conclude the regular season. The craziest of those games was the final regular season game between the LA Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders, which Vegas won 35-32 on an overtime field goal. We look back at the NFL's craziest season-finale. With the Jacksonville Jaguars beating the Indianapolis Colts, both teams could have made the playoffs with a win or tie. With coaching meaning more and more, we look at how Chargers rookie head coach Brandon Staley handled key moments including going for a fourth down inside his own 20-yard line. We also look at Staley not going for two and his timeout with 40 seconds left in overtime. While we both think the timeout did not affect the game, LA's rush defense played a far bigger role in the loss. We also take a look at the job Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia has done in an emotional and season for the Silver and Black. Despite the loss, we both love watching second-year star Justin Herbert sling the football for the Bolts. After that AFC West Classic, we shift to another classic meeting between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. With the Jags beating the Colts, this game was likely to determine the AFC's final playoff spot between arch rivals. This game was also the last potential chance to see Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger take an NFL snap. While at the end of his career, Big Ben brought some of his old magic with a key touchdown to Chase Claypool in the fourth quarter. While the Steelers won, Pittsburgh needed a winner in Las Vegas. With the Raiders winning in OT, the Steelers earned the AFC's seventh and final seed and a trip to face the Kansas City Chiefs. In another overtime finish, we look at the NFC West clash between the San Francisco 49ers and LA Rams. We look at how 49ers Jimmy Garoppolo stepped up when his team needed him in the second half with big throws, including 14-yard touchdown to Jauan Jennings in the last minute. We also compliment Deebo Samuel's performance, which included a 24-yard touchdown pass and 16-yard touchdown run. For the Rams, we look at the continued struggles for Matthew Stafford, who threw seven interceptions in his last three games. We also look at running back Cam Akers' return to the backfield. During this segment, I make a bold predictions stating the 49ers are the NFL's most dangerous Wild Card team with a road in making a long playoff run. After those overtime games, we talk Dolphins. With yesterday being "Black Monday, where teams often fire coaches and general managers, The Dolphins shockingly fired Brian Flores after he went 24-25 over three seasons. We look at decisions including the Tua Tagovailoa over Justin Herbert which may have led to Flores' firing. We end this episode by revealing our revised Super Bowl predictions. While Alex is going with a showdown between Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes, The Big D likes the Buffalo Bills and LA Rams to meet for the Super Bowl on Feb. 13. ...more56minPlay
January 04, 2022Week 17 Recap with Alex BleuelIn this episode, Alex and I talk Big Ben's last home game, Bengals Win AFC North, Big D's FF Title, A Miami rant First, we talk about the likely final home game for long-time Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, which was a win over the Cleveland Browns. We recap Big Ben's last home game and talk about out favorite Roethlisberger memories. I also bring up Roethlisberger will be the third and final QB from the 2004 class following Eli Manning and Philip Rivers to retire in the past few years. Then, we talk about the Cincinnati Bengals beating the Kansas City Chiefs 34-31 to win their first AFC North crown in six years. We talk about the incredible stretch Joe Burrow is in the past two weeks. After a historic 525-yard game against the Ravens, Burrow outplayed Mahomes with 446 yards and four more touchdowns. Burrow's No. 1 weapon, rookie sensation Ja'Marr Chase caught 11 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns. We talk about how Burrow and Chase's condition is gelling in the NFL like it did at LSU. After the Bengals chat, we talk about Big D's fantasy football title. I discuss how my roster changed after my draft. I lost Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey early in the season. Alex noticed how I kept most of my key position players. I also explain how the Washington Football Team's Jaret Patterson proved to be a critical addition once Antonio Gibson was placed on the COVID-19 list. Alex ends this episode by ranting after seeing his Miami Dolphins fall short of the playoffs after a 34-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans....more45minPlay

December 27, 2021Josh Allen beating NE, Joe Burrow's 525-yard game, SB Bubble, and Jacksonville's next head coachIn this episode, Alex and I look back on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills convincing win over the Patriots, a historic game for Joe Burrow and the Bengals, our Super Bowl bubbles, and Jacksonville's next coach. First, we look back at an impressive road win for the Buffalo Bills, who got revenge over the Pats. Josh Allen put Buffalo on his back with 314 yards, three touchdowns while rushing for 64 yards. We look at the difference between Buffalo's star and NE's rookie Mac Jones. While Jones is a game-manager, Allen possesses a big arm and mobility. We also compliment Allen on three great plays on Buffalo's game-clinching drive involving its star quarterback. Then, we switch our attention to a historic outing by Cincinnati Bengals second-year phenom Joe Burrow, who threw for a franchise-record 525 yards in a dominant AFC North win over the Ravens. We admire Burrow's game, who found Tee Higgins 12 times for 194 yards and two touchdowns. With Burrow, Higgins, Chase, and a young offensive coach in Zac Taylor, we debate the Bengals chances of controlling the AFC North for the next few years. We then change the conversation to which teams main as the top contenders in our individual Super Bowl bubble. We end with talking about which coach Big D's Jaguars should hire to replace Urban Meyer....more41minPlay
