(1:36-3:40) Short North Shooting Arrests

Columbus Police arrested Massamba Dieye, 19, along with a 16- and 17-year-old, on murder charges in the dead of 20-year-old Tiegiaion Clement. Clement was shot and killed in the Short North early Sunday morning. Police have not said what led up to the shooting. 

(3:41-7:54) Bruce Foster Murder Trial Closing Statements Begin

The defense and prosecution are making their closing arguments in the murder trial of Bruce Foster. Foster is the man who went into the KDC One warehouse February 2025 and shot six people, killing two of them. Foster's defense doesn't argue that he didn't commit the shooting, they argue that he wasn't in the right mental state at the time. The prosecution agrees Foster was mentally ill at the time, but that he still understood what he was doing was wrong.

(8:09-15:29) Have Political Ads Gone Too Far?

A political ad endorsed by the Jon Husted for Senate campaign has got a lot of attention after it used video of a deadly crash that killed a family of three. The surviving family says the creators of the ad didn't ask permission to use the family's photos and doesn't want their tragedy turned into something political. Also, how far can ads go with their claims? One ad against the Amy Acton campaign claims she's responsible for the death of a woman. 10TV's reporting found she died in Kentucky, not Ohio. 10TV political reporter Doug Petcash joins the conversation.

Retired U.S. Army Colonel Bill Butler talks about his time in the U.S. Army in the years following the 9/11 attacks and the importance of community.

A recent report founds AI agents created by OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, went rogue and hacked Hugging Face, a tech company, and then the agents attempted to cover their tracks. It opens the question of is AI becoming too powerful and when should it be regulated? Nicole Jackson, the Chief Technology Officer at Optimum Technology, talks about potential AI regulations, the ethics of AI, and how it's been incorporated into the business world.

Thursday afternoon, President Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America as the trade war with Canada continues. Canadians are pushing back against the move and so are a lot of Americans.

(19:04-26:32) Family asks to stop Sen. Husted ad

The family of the three people killed in a Delaware County crash in April are asking the Husted campaign to pull an add that features their loved ones without permission. The ad targets Democrat Sherrod Brown's immigration policies and attempts to blame Brown for their deaths. The family said their tragedy shouldn't be used for political gain. 

(26:47-35:38) Ohio could get millions from Meta lawsuit

Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson announced the multistate Meta settlement should provide Ohio with more than $319 million over the next decade. However, the rules Meta must follow and the payout still have to go through judicial review. 

(35:53-41:31) Gay Softball World Series comes to Columbus

Columbus is hosting the Gay Softball World Series next week for the fourth time. This is the 49th year for the Gay Softball World Series and is expected too bring more than 6,000 visitors to the city from across the US and Canada.

(1:40-8:22) Bruce Foster Trial Day 3

The prosecution in trial of the man accused of killing two people at a New Albany warehouse in February 2025 rested their case Tuesday. The Bruce Foster's defense team will have the chance to make a case Wednesday afternoon. This being a bench trial, there will be no jury deliberation. The judge presiding over the case will ultimately decide Foster's fate.

The Big Ten and SEC have approved a ban on pro players returning to college sports and the Big 12 is also considering a similar move. The Big Ten adopted the new rule Tuesday saying underclassman who declared for the NFL Draft and didn't withdraw, signed contract or appeared on an NFL roster are ineligible to play college ball again. Tyvis Powell breaks down what's at stake.

The Columbus Comedy Festival is back for a third year. It kicks off Thursday and runs through Sunday in Columbus. New documents show concerning reports about some of the Siders' 16 children dating back to 2020 when the family still lived in Gallia County. The records report poor school performance, truancy, bug bites and more. We're also learning how two men indicted last week on child sex crimes are related to the family and how that investigation led to the discovery of the 16 children in Vinton County.

Dolly Parton died Tuesday at the age of 80. The country music legend leaves behind a legacy of more than music and film, but also that of philanthropy. Her Imagination Library have provided books to children all across the country, including here in Ohio. Bryanna Dutcher, 18, had her first appearance before a judge after being charged with the murder of her mother. Dutcher, her boyfriend and her boyfriend's roommate are all charged with aggravated murder. Text messages exchanged with Bryanna Dutcher show the discussions of killing Tamala Dutcher.

Most districts are back in school and that means a lot of yellow buses back on the roads. Morgan Dean from AAA talks about awareness around school zones and school buses.

(17:34-25:41) 49ers owner arrested in northeast Ohio

49ers owner Jed York was arrested over the weekend in East Palestine, Ohio. He was arrested at a trailer park after allegedly arranging to have sexual activity with a woman for $140. York pleaded no contest in a plea deal and was released on bond. 

(26:11-30:45) Siders family indictments

Indictments were handed down for the four family members in the Vinton County child endangerment case where 16 children were found in "deplorable" conditions. However, two more people were indicted for sex crimes, which is what led investigators to another incident involving Gary Jr and Elizabeth Siders.

Jared Pincin, PhD, from Cedarville University talks about the upcoming annual meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming as average Americans are struggling with inflation and prices.

For many children, the food they get at school is the only food they get that day. The Columbus Metropolitan Library is providing after school snacks for kids at 19 of its branches to help combat food insecurity.

A cat with 29 toes! The Wisconsin cat beats out a world record for 28 toes held since 2002.

(2:00-5:26) Short North Deadly Shooting

A 20-year-old is dead after an early Sunday morning shooting in the Short North. Police haven't released any information on a potential shooter or what led up to the shooting. This happened in the 1000 block of North High Street, an area that is no stranger to violence. The city has made attempts to curb crime in the neighborhood, but shootings continue to happen in the nightlife spot. 

(5:27-8:27) Newark Reduces Firefighter Staffing Due to Overtime Concerns

The Newark Fire Department has already racked up $590,000 in overtime and is on track to reach $940,000, according to the fire union. In order to cut back on overtime pay, the Newark Division of Fire has reduced daily staffing from 17 to 16 firefighters. While it's an adjustment of one person, it takes an engine out of service and some community members aren't happy about the change.

(17:25-25:25) Department of Neighborhoods Begins Community Plan for Franklinton

The Columbus Department of Neighborhoods is starting the process to create a community plan for Franklinton and the southwest side. This is the fourth community plan created by the Department. The goal is to make the neighborhoods a better place to work, live and play. Kym Douglas, Director of the Department of Neighborhoods, and Patrice Allen Brady, Neighborhoods Administrator, join the conversation about what will make the community plan for Franklinton unique after years of changes to housing prices and demographics. 

(25:40-36:12) Murder Trial Begins for Man Accused in New Albany Mass Shooting

Bruce Foster faces multiple felony charges, including various murder charges, after Licking County prosecutors say he opened fire inside the KDC One facility in New Albany in February 2025. Two people died in the shooting and four more were injured. Foster had a history of mental health issues, but was still able to legally purchase a gun just months before the shooting, The shooting was also New Albany's first homicide in history.

(1:40-9:23) Buckeye Lake evacuated and I-70 Closed Due to Flooding

Thursday's rain not only made for the second wettest August on record, but it's also prompted multiple evacuation orders in Licking County and has a large portion of I-70 shut down until the water recedes. Besides a chance for more rain Saturday, central Ohio should have a decent break from rain in the coming forecast.

(17:41-25:54) Central Ohio Still Considered a Sellers Market

The July housing report from Columbus Realtors shows closed sales were up 6.3%  year over year. Median home prices topped $350,000 while the region had the highest July inventory in more than a decade. Gloria Alonso-Cannon, President of the Columbus Realtors Association, talks about what's driving buyers and is there any hope for a break in housing prices. 

(26:09-37:07) Maternal Mental Health Conversation 

We continue our conversation from earlier in the week about maternal mental health and a focus on post-partum depression and psychosis. According to the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, the mental health of US mothers has worsened in the past decade. Between 2016 and 2023, there was a 65% increase in mothers reporting "fair to poor mental health." Also, 20% of maternal deaths in the US are due to suicide, according to the CDC. Dr. Tamar Gur, a Maternal-Fetal Psychiatrist at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, joins the conversation about the signs and resources available to mothers who might be struggling. 

(37:22-45:47) Shannon Hardin Announces Mayoral Run

For the first time, Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther is facing a challenger from his own party. Columbus City Council President Shannon Hardin announced a run for mayor Thursday. When he assumed the Council President role in 2018, he was the youngest person and the first openly gay person to do so. Hardin sat down with 10TV's Yolanda Harris to talk about why he thinks he's fit to run the city.

(1:00-9:00) Flooding Causes Widespread School Delays and Closures

Inches of rain fell on central Ohio again Thursday morning and the flooding led to many schools delaying the day or canceling altogether. It also shut down I-71 south for hours and caused a number of other roadway headaches. This all as the region tries to dry out from last week's flooding. 

(9:00-13:00) AAA Study on Speeding

According to a new study from AAA, many drivers say going up to 10 mph over the speed limit is acceptable with 3/10 saying no one drives the speed limit. This as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that speeding is a factor for 30% of traffic fatalities in 2024. Morgan Dean, of AAA, joins the conversation to talk about driving trends and how speeding affects how we all travel. 

(13:30-23:01) ODH Director Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff on Childhood Vaccinations

Vaccination exemptions have increased among U.S. kindergarteners to 4.2% from 3.6%. Ohio's exemption rate among kindergarteners is now 5.6% for the 2025-2026 school year. Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, Ohio Department of Health Director, talks about what's driving parents to turn away from vaccines, new federal recommendations and the importance of childhood vaccinations. 

(23:31-31:52) Columbus Urban League's Clean and Safe Corridor Initiative

The Columbus Urban League is giving out up to five grants for $10,000 to promote the Clean and Safe Corridor initiative in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood. Recipients must have a pitch and plan to improve safety and quality of life in the historically Black neighborhood. 

(32:07-37:40) COTA Makes Riding Easier for OSU Students

Buckeyes started moving in this week and classes start Tuesday. This year, students will have an easier time riding COTA. OSU students can now use their BuckID app to ride COTA instead of swiping their BuckID card, carrying a COTA pass, or using the Transit app.

(1:55-6:00) Columbus City Schools Deficit Update

Tuesday night, the Columbus City Schools treasurer provided an update to the district's five-year forecast. The district is projecting a $53 million deficit this fiscal year. That's less than the $59 million predicting back in February. However, the district expects the deficit to grow to $157 million by 2031. The district has made cuts to staff, transportation, and school buildings to try and right the budget and now there are talks of going to voters for a new tax. 

(6:00-10:35) Flock Camera Vandalism

Flock cameras continue to be a hotly contested topic not just in central Ohio, but nationwide. The village of Hebron had three cameras vandalized recently and the police chief says he won't be intimidated into taking them down. Surrounding communities have also reported damage. Nationwide, people have turned to cutting them down, spray painting the lenses or covering them up to send their message.

Lindsay Clancy, 36 of Plymouth, Massachusetts, is facing three counts of murder after she was accused of killing her three children. The case has put a spotlight on maternal mental health, especially post-partum depression. Tonya Fulwider, the Executive Director of Mental Health America of Ohio, talks wtih Bryn and Collin about resources available to mothers struggling with life after birth.

(1:40-4:20) Two Shootings in North Central Columbus

A drive-by shooting happened early Monday afternoon following a funeral service on Woodward Avenue. Two people were shot and are expected to survive. Then just after 10:30 Monday night, another shooting happened about three miles away on Gibbard Avenue and sent two women to the hospital and a Columbus Police Officer fired their weapon. Are the two shootings connected? We've asked police. 

(4:21-8:13) Building Explosion and Fire in Toledo

Around 5a.m. Tuesday, two explosions rocked a commercial laundry facility in south Toledo. It caused a massive fire. While no fatalities have been confirmed, two employees were still unaccounted for at the time of this recording. 

(8:28-18:19) Navigating Mortgage Rates and Homebuying

Mortgage rates fell slightly for the first time in six months earlier this month to an average of 6.67%. That's still more than what buyers were locking in last year, though. Dawn Brahma, with Kemba! Financial, and realtor Kourtney Dewald join Bryn and Collin about navigating the housing market and your options as a buyer.

The Red Cross still has shelters set up in Perry and Franklin Counties in Ohio and one in Indiana following intense flooding and storms from the past week. Red Cross volunteers will continue assisting families in need even after the shelters close at some future point. As part of OneProject Columbus, different districts of the city are tasked with spending $1 million in city money for projects that will benefit the people living there. Community for New Direction CEO John Dawson joins the conversation to talk about the wants of District 7, which covers most of downtown, Franklinton, the near east side, and Southern Orchards. So far, the requests have been for more green spaces. There's another meeting to give opinions Wednesday evening.

Three people, including the 18-year-old daughter of the victim, face murder charges in the death of 55-year-old Tamela Dutcher last week in Delaware County. 10TV's Kevin Landers breaks down the case and how it continues to unfold as more information comes out. (4:46-7:00) Daveonte Dixon Sentencing Preview

While we wait on the sentencing hearing to start: In May 2025, Daveonte Dixon shot two Mifflin Township Police officers during a traffic stop. The two officers survived their injuries. Dixon pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder and five counts of felonious assault in June.

(7:00-9:44) Severe Weather Weekend

More severe weather rolled through Ohio over the weekend. The heavy rain prompted more evacuations. New Lexington Fire told 10TV more than three dozen people had to be rescued from flood waters in Perry County. Emergency Shelters are still set up in Perry County.

Franklin County First Assistant Prosecutor Sheryl Pritchard and John Litle III, attorney for one of the victims, make the case for a more severe sentence for Dixon. Adam Cain, Dixon's defense attorney, speaks for more than half an hour to make a case on why the sentence should be less severe. *The sentencing continued past the end of the podcast.
