  • The Night of the 10,000m PB's - Preview Special - The OAC - Feat. George Mills & Olivier Bernhard
Welcome to this special series of preview podcasts to celebrate the Night of the 10,000m PB’s return.
In our final episode of this preview series, I took a trip to Zurich to learn more about headline partner On running's brand new European Athletic and speak with George Mills who is taking on the Emsley Carr Mile on May 14th and spend some time with On co-founder Olivier Bernhard.
George's fellow OAC members include: Cari Hughes – a fellow Brit who has a 1500m best of 4:16.19, Tom Elmer – multiple Swiss 1500m champion with a best of 3:37.84, Noah Baltus – Dutch under-20 champion with a 3:41.69 PB. , Marta Garcia – a 4:08.43 1500m runner from Spain who is combining athletics with medical studies, Fabiane Meyer – still only 19, the German was fifth in last year’s European under-20 women’s 1500m final.
After a track session with OAC head coach Thomas Dreißigacker, we had a chance to learn more from the founders and have some time with the athletes.
Have a listen to join me on this day trip to Switzerland to find out more.
    ------
So we have reached the end of our preview specials. This means it's time for the main event, I hope you can join the fun at parliament hill from 3 pm on May 14th.
If not, you can catch the action on a stream in the UK courtesy of Vinco Sport, British Athletics and on the BBC red button from 8pm.

  • The Night of the 10,000m PB's - Preview Special - The Mahamed Brothers
Welcome to this special series of preview podcasts to celebrate the return of the Night of the 10,000m PB’s.
From Monday to Friday there will be a brand new episode talking to key figures of the events past and future as we look forward to the return of the Glastonbury of Athletics on May 14th.
On today's episode, I joined the Mahamed brothers Mahamed and Zak at a session at their local AC in Southhampton.
The brothers are serious talents. Mo won this year's national XC. They took 2nd and 3rd at the Cardiff Half marathon and again the comeback 500O in Battersea.
We talked about balancing faith and training, their hopes for Highgate and why you should always make sure your watch is charged before a session.

We have a bumper episode for you today with not one but FOUR guests. Who joined me on the phone to look forward to return of the Night of the 10ks.
First up is Peter Scott, a regular fixture at Lee Valley Athletics centre where he works, a former competitive athlete and lifelong friend of organiser Ben Pochee. He has been connected to the event since its start. His energy, mc'ing and outfits hyping up the crowd as the action unfolds.
The next caller on the line is Wendy Sly. Wendy is a British former athlete who won a silver medal in the 3000m in the 1984 LA Olympics and won the 1983 10km world road race champs in San Diego. She is now a non-executive director for British athletics and works as managing director for Athletics Weekly.
From one AW key player to another, Jason Henderson has been joining The Big Run on our monthly episodes for the racing forecast. It felt only right to get him on the line to give his take on the elite fields for May 14th. You can read more preview action over on the AW website here:
    https://athleticsweekly.com/
Hot on his heels and the man of the moment its Ellis Cross.
I caught up with Ellis Cross to take stock of a different kind of 10,000m that captured everyone's imagination last week and what his hopes are on the track this Saturday.

About The Big Run

From the publisher's feed

Running is big. Elite athletes, records, technology, cutting edge gear. But it’s big for the people who lace up, head out and grab some miles. Day in, Day out. Whether it’s making it around the block, your first mile unbroken, feeling part of a community, clearer in your head or breaking what’s physically possible.
