Wednesday's First Hour: We're celebrating clean water today in-studio with the folks from Agri Drain! We start the program with IDALS Water Quality Initiative Projects Coordinator Matt Lechtenberg who highlights some of the in-field and edge-of-field practices they are talking with Iowa farmers about to improve water quality and reduce flood risk. Sean McMahon from the Iowa Ag Water Alliance fills us in on some funding options for clean water practices. Ecosystem Services Exchange Conservation Engineering Lead Dr. Andy Craig talks about the planning services they provide, site selection, design services, and how to get in touch with them to learn more. Agri Drain Corporation Vice President Lisa Newby talks more on water management products they offer to make it easy to manage your drainage system. We also talk with the Blake Ballard here on a Wyffels Wednesday with comments on harvest and some delays from weather, plus testing for stalk quality and scheduling harvest.

David caught up with Lisa Behnke from the World Dairy Expo as livestock begins arriving to Madison this week and then Expo gets going next week. The Director of the Kent Feed Mill & Grain Science Complex tells us about the operations of the facility and the classes they teach there. US Commodities' Don Roose discusses the falling livestock markets and his grain targets at the end of the show.

Tuesday's First Hour: Brandon Hulme from Champion Seed joins us to talk about doing the push test for stalk rot and tells us what early returns are showing for corn and soybean yield. Don Roose from US Commodities is today's market analyst, and he says that the markets are waiting to see what yields turn out to be and he is looking ahead to potential harvest-low prices. Ending the hour, we catch up with Iowa Senator Joni Ernst on the possibility of a government shutdown and how it would impact putting together a Farm Bill.

Producer Curt Behrends from Cass County, Iowa tells us what he's seeing come out of his soybean field and about the timely rainfall he saw mid-summer to get the crop to the finish line. State Entomologist Robin Pruisner discusses invasive plant diseases and pests that they have been researching and preparing to fend off. Paragon Investments' Jamey Kohake ends today's show with a market update with grains now slightly higher getting closer to the close.

We check up on East-Central Iowa with field agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe today from Iowa State University Extension and Outreach with a look at how much rain they got over the weekend, how much more moisture they need over the off-season, and progress of harvest in that area of Iowa. Jamey Kohake from Paragon Investments is today's market analyst as we look ahead to today's harvest progress report with grains mostly weaker. Tim Meyer with the Steffes Group ends the hour with our weekly update on land and equipment values, plus an update on their upcoming schedule.

Angie Rieck-Hinz in North Central Iowa with Iowa State University Extension tells us how corps and yields look as they come out of the field. We end with Don Roose from US Commodities looking at markets as we are down across all ag markets.

The Drought Mitigation Center released a new drought monitor this morning with Northeast Iowa now seeing dome D4 Exceptional Drought. We begin the show with DeKalb/Asgrow Agronomist Nicole Stecklein in that corner of the state talks about the dryness, planning for 2024, and the beginning of harvest activity. Syngenta Agronomy Service Manager Jami Loecker discusses reports of dicamba-resistant water hemp and looking ahead to weed control next season. We hear from Don Roose from US Commodities for market analysis with a look at where he thinks the lows will be for new crop corn and soybeans.

We're continuing the kickoff of Beck's Feed The Farmer program. David is joined by Beck's seed advisor Frank Rydl at the start of the hour with a word on showing appreciation for farmers and an update on field conditions. Another Beck's seed advisor Chance Cook talks about the look ahead to 2024. We wrap up from Plainfield, IA with Rachel Hyde and Randy Timm from Beck's Hybrids talk about their deliveries of meals this morning. We also take a look at weather after parts of Central Iowa exceeded 3" of rainfall yesterday with local areas near 5"! Brian Hoops with Midwest Market Solutions is our market analyst and says that he's hoping to see enough rain to help with river levels and shipping and once yield numbers come in, it will really determine what direction prices go. It's also Wyffels Wednesday as Bob catches up with Randy Harding about harvest activity and planning for next year.
