Brian Hoops from Midwest Market Solutions ends today's show with an update on markets with corn up only slightly after decreased crop conditions in yesterday's report.

Midwest Market Solutions President Brian Hoops is today's market analyst with some insight on the international factors playing into today's grain trade. And it's Wyffels Wednesday! We talk with Wyffels Agronomy Manager Eric Wilson about the heat stress across the Midwest this summer and scheduling harvest.

We continue our broadcast from today's presentation of the 177th Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award near Chelsea, IA! Bob Quinn is joined by the winning family, the Behounek family, throughout the hour about their sheep operation. He also talks with Mike Naig about the value of meat in the sheep industry and creating demand. Mike Steenhoek from the Soy Transportation Coalition brings us an update on low river level and increasing shipping price issues. Jamey Kohake is our closing act today with a look at targets in the grain markets for the next couple of weeks.

Bob is live in northeastern Poweshiek County for the presentation of the 177th Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award! He talks throughout the hour with the Behounek family about their hog and sheep operation. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig discusses the significance of the sheep industry in Iowa. Brian Waddingham and Kody Havens from CSIF tell us how to nominate your Good Farm Neighbor to the Coalition and has information on who should be getting in touch with them for assistance on their livestock farm. We look at markets with Jamey Kohake from Paragon Investments on a day that he calls disappointing for grains coming out of the holiday weekend. Tim Meyer from Steffes Group ends the hour with a look at their calendar.

American Carbon Alliance CEO start the hour with us on the phone with some info on the organization, talks about where the carbon from pipelines goes to, and why they are proponents of the pipelines. Earlier this week at the Farm Progress Show, David caught up with Elizabeth Burns-Thompson from Navigator CO2, and we listen in on that discussion. Don Roose wraps up the show with us looking at markets going into the long Labor Day weekend.

Field Agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe from ISU Extension in East Central Iowa tells us about their lack of rainfall recently and says the dryness is showing in soybean fields. Don Roose from US Commodities previews the three-day weekend for the commodity markets and says that more than half of the time, corn and soybeans get a decent bump the day after Labor Day. To end the hour, we listen in on a chat that Daivd had with Scott Gaffner from the Illinois Soybean Association at the Farm Progress Show earlier this week.

We listen in on some more of David's chats at the 2023 Farm Progress Show from when he was there on Tuesday. He spoke with Jamie Horton and Scott Speck from Bayer on the products they are emphasizing. We get a look at the latest drought monitor out this morning showing a TRIPLING of D3 in Iowa. Back to Farm Progress Show, David caught up with Brad Van Kooten and Clark Smith from Corteva. And at the end of the show, Alan Brugler joins us again with our last market update of August as we speed toward harvest season.

On this final day of the 2023 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, we listen in on some of the conversations David had with some of the exhibitors at the show when he was there on Tuesday. He caught up with Nick Fassler from BASF at the media tent. Scott Cully from Syngenta talks about the products they are showing off. Alan Brugler from Brugler Marketing in Omaha tells us about today's commodity market activity as we close out the month of August. The 2023 Iowa NRCS Conservation Woman of the Year, Darcy Maulsby, joins us at the beginning of the hour to tell us about her family's history in conservation practices and why it's so important to keep water clean where she is in Calhoun County for those downstream. We listen in on another interview David got yesterday at Farm Progress show with New Holland, the makers of the first electric utility tractor. Wrapping up the show, Don Roose from US Commodities tells us how competition in South America is continuing to push corn and soybeans lower today.

We talk with Mike Witt, Iowa State University Extension's West-Central Iowa Field Agronomist, about the widely varying conditions of crops in his area and talks about disease issues he's hearing about.
