The Blacksmith's Furnace

Better late than never with this weeks episode, it's a full furnace though back with some heat for your listening pleasure

Sorry not sorry started off with Mo addressing christian actors taking roles that don't align with their personal beliefs, and talking about the recent string of "christian" influencers / celebrities leaving the faith.

We then go on to try and talk about the crisis occurring in Afghanistan at the moment and what our moral responsibility as a country is to help out especially if there are issues that still need addressing on the home front.

For our Hookups, Peter offered up a tip for those heading back to school, he notes that it's always worth considering refurbished laptops, especially vendor or first party refurbished as you'll surely get much more value for your money and have the manufacturer warranty as well!

Mo suggested checking out amazon prime's anime offerring more specifically an anime called Dororo have a watch here [https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/detail/0G57J0S445M2B2THLC3476UI3G?gclsrc=aw.ds&ref=dvm_uk_sl_tit_zzz_mLAcciIGc_c419849791669&gclid=Cj0KCQjwg7KJBhDyARIsAHrAXaETQ3dK89Nc8Qhpfq6UghfWC58EqgUNkt_NX8xGuW-bcg3-G__XD8waAousEALw_wcB](https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/detail/0G57J0S445M2B2THLC3476UI3G?gclsrc=aw.ds&ref=dvm_uk_sl_tit_zzz_mLAcciIGc_c419849791669&gclid=Cj0KCQjwg7KJBhDyARIsAHrAXaETQ3dK89Nc8Qhpfq6UghfWC58EqgUNkt_NX8xGuW-bcg3-G__XD8waAousEALw_wcB)

Even thought Moses was not around this week, Peter channelled his inner Smash Bro and suggested the Rock and the Rockstar, along with special guest Andrea, discuss porn! They discuss OnlyFans trying to clean up their act, the effect porn has had on their expectations of sex and how porn has seeped into past and present relationships.

Andrea graced the hot seat this week and answered questions on whether Christian artists owe their fanbase an explanation about creating non-Christian content and whether there's a place for the prophetic in government.

Welcome to another installation of The Blacksmith's furnace!

First things first! Our sincere apologies for not getting an episode out last week. Things just didn't work out with recording but we'll make it work going forward. According to Robert these sorta performance issue happen but he's probably speaking for himself.

Anyway, we had a free for all Sorry not Sorry this week with Mo speaking to where the line is between what we still have to obey form the Old testament and what we don't. Robert then had to answer the question what if Christians are wrong? Lastly both Peter and Mo talked about our view on how the bible tackles rape in the old testament in contrast to how society deals with it today!

We then go on to talk about Rhianna recently joining the billionaires club and we consider what amoount of money we would consider a comfortable amount to live off for the rest of our days.

It's an interesting thing thinking on what comfort and contentment really means.

For our hookups Peter suggested checking out some youtube from the sky tv show Rob and Romesh Vs, there are some hilarious highlights of the two british comedians doing some of the most absurd challenges and rather comedically not enjoying them. Have a watch here [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drn4asP6Ers&list=PLziTV12IsNlhJTrClySv0wKokgJ_AxELs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Drn4asP6Ers&list=PLziTV12IsNlhJTrClySv0wKokgJ_AxELs)

It's the rock and the Rockstar coming to you with a fresh episode of the black smith furnace this week.

Man lyk Mo couldn't attend so he got a light roasting at the beginning but stay tuned for an interesting conversation with the two coolest members of the furnace.

We took turns in the hot seat for Sorry Not Sorry with Pete talking about why it's important to read your bible, and Rob addresses his indulgement of secular entertainment.

We then go on to talk about mental health and where the line is between needing to be resilient and taking care of oneself in the light of recent withdrawals from competition by top level athletes Simone Biles and Naomi Osaka who've cited their mental health and well being as the reason.

For our Hookups Peter suggested avoiding the recent Marsters of the Universe season on Netflix. He also took Mo's hookup and suggested checking out a game called Real pool 3d adn Lone wolf.

Rob followed with suggesting you check out a game called 20 second showdown check here for lots of fun, apparently.

It's Bobby, Pete and man lyk Mo with another episode of the Blacksmith's Furnace, welcome!

In this week's episode Pete took a turn in the hot seat and dealt with questions about the validity of stories in the Bible like God holding the sun in the sky for Joshua to win a war in Joshua 10 especially when the physics of such an event are impossible, and what the difference is between sin and iniquity.

We then go on to talk about how fatherhood has affected our understanding of God's love for us and if such effects can be enjoyed by men without children. Ultimately, we look at what it takes to grow in God and how our perception of the journeys of more mature Christians could either inspire or discourage us on our own personal faith walks.

Fr our hookups; Mo suggested checking out an Anime classic now available on Netflix, Have a watch of Akira here https://g.co/kgs/w5bpVn, Rob suggested an album from Dave called Psychodrama, have a listen here https://g.co/kgs/B5LgUQ and Pete suggested a YouTube channel by a software engineer called Gyasi Linje, check him out not just for software related videos but also lifestyle and tech stuff here https://www.youtube.com/user/ASEgG100

It's a full furnace again this week with ya boys, Rob, Pete and man lyk Mo. Welcome.

Rob returns straight to the hot seat and deals with whether or not members of the Methodist church who disagree with their most recent policy change on LGBTQ+ marriage should leave the church and how he would deal with female leadership in light of biblical stories that might be interpreted as saying females shouldn't lead.

We then go on to talk about the pros and cons of anonymity in today's society in light of the explicit racism that people displayed against the three black footballers who missed penalties at the Euro's final.

For our Hookups Peter suggested checking out a movie recap youtube channel called Mr Brain Junkie check him out here https://www.youtube.com/c/MrBrainJunkie/featured, Mo suggested checking out the latest season of Seven Deadly Sins on Netflix https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/80050063, have a watch here , and Rob suggested saving some money on discount websites like Wowcher and Groupon!

Let me start out like this: WE HAVE A TREAT FOR YOU THIS WEEK!!!!

Welcome to not just another episode of the furnace! This week we are joined by an amazing author and theologian and Archaeologist. She's worked as a writer for many Christian books and contributed to the Voice translation of the Bible. You would have heard of her on the podcast when Pete suggested checking out one of her amazing books, Mary Magdalene never wore blue eye shadow and she so generously agreed to come hang out with us at the furnace.

It was so much fun, and so inspiring and educational to have the absolutely lovely Amanda Hope Haley on this week's episode.

Being the most accomplished theologian to grace the pod she bravely took the hot seat and breezed through questions about why the bible was given in the first place in the manner in which it is and how to deal with textual criticism that comes from academia and that casts doubt on the validity and very authorship of the bible. We go on from there to talk about biblical interpretation, and how archaeological studies help supplement and inform our understanding of the context and times that God chose to structure his word in.

One thing that most certainly sets Amanda apart from other scholars and academics is she leads with faith and that shines through in our conversation, in her work as an archaeologist and a writer and certainly in her books.

We had so much fun and took so much from our time with Amanda and want to say an extremely big thanks to her and her family for her time and wisdom and experience.

For our hookups Mo suggested checking out the Voice bible translation which is actually the translation that Amanda contributed to, Peter being the heathen he is suggested checking out the very last in the Rurouni Kenshin movie that will be coming out in July 30th https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81313229 keep an eye out for it, and Amanda recommended a group of Bible study guides called At His Feet bible studies which are great exegetical guides that are designed to really help women with biblical learning check them out here https://www.athisfeetstudies.com/

Lastly do yourself a favour and check out Amanda's new book the Red Haired Archaeologist digs Israel she presents such an accessible and relatable experience of her work as a biblical archaeologist in Israel and in doing so also presents ideas that will really evolve and challenge your approach to biblical interpretation you can find it here https://redhairedarchaeologist.com/the-red-haired-archaeologist-digs-israel/ and you can find everything you need to know about Amanda and her other books on her website https://redhairedarchaeologist.com/ and while you're there follow her on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AmandaHopeHaley) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/redhairedarchaeologist/)

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening all and welcome to another edition of the Blacksmith's Furnace.

Following current long distance running champion Mo Farah, failing to qualify for the olympics, in this weeks episode, we talk about pursuing goals and passions and what it takes to take those pursuits to the next level.

Considering Farah might not be able to compete at the very highest level due to age or other factors we ponder if it's still worth grinding and working as though you still are, just for the love of it.

Mo took a turn in the Hot Seat for Sorry not Sorry tackling why the Bible is comprised of the books therein and what makes for a good worship song.

For our Hookups,

Mo suggested a couple of books by an author called Seth Godin. Following our conversation he suggested checking out The Dip https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dip-extraordinary-benefits-knowing-stick/dp/0749928301 and Linchpin https://www.amazon.co.uk/Linchpin-Are-You-Indispensable/dp/B0038369CE/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=58636033612&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuIWHBhBDEiwACXQYscZ4D-7kaxWRWTsBV7kcF7pdLFcKLvPg6NGETlxVmQH2_3z0q4vSCxoCYuEQAvD_BwE&hvadid=259030756257&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1006618&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1210539344537509681&hvtargid=kwd-299528526430&hydadcr=18465_1817239&keywords=seth+godin+linchpin&qid=1625434742&sr=8-1

The Rock and the Rockstar were joined by the absolutely lovely Dreya for this weeks episode of the furnace. She even took the hot seat this week and fielded a couple of interesting questions from the guys. Pete wanted to know how Christians can figure out what's going on if Denzel is right when he says, if you watch the news you'll be misinformed, if you don't you'll be uninformed. Rob wanted to know how Elisha was justified in having a bear maul the children that were mocking him and whether or not it was an abuse of power.

We then go on to talk about Nepotism and how it affects our community especially looking at how we see certain communities "putting on their own" and hwo we maybe don't see that as much among the black community.

We also talk about the current trend to fill certain "diversity" quotas and how we would feel about being given certain opportunities just because of the color of our skin.

For our hookups Peter suggested checking out a youtube channel ran by Jeff Su who has a bunch of videos with tips on productivity and productivity tools, check him out here https://www.youtube.com/c/JeffSu/about , Dreya shared a new devotional she's started on Youversion called It is Written, check it out here https://www.bible.com/en/reading-plans/15865 and Rob suggested checking out Alex Ferguson's biography Leading , have a read about one of the most successful football managers of all time here https://www.amazon.co.uk/Leading-Lessons-leadership-legendary-Manchester/dp/147362164X/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=52880841066&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw-qeFBhAsEiwA2G7Nl9oOphzxCRjVViICCJExWXE4vpOT4qCuGKR7uSyjOqaeaJkBY04JfxoCHi4QAvD_BwE&hvadid=259084628386&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1006618&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=9720469875778571027&hvtargid=kwd-300089317560&hydadcr=18488_1772458&keywords=leading+alex+ferguson&qid=1621794848&sr=8-1

Welcome all to another edition of the Blacksmith's Furnace with your favourite almost fake theologians Rob, Pete and Mo. We hope you've had a lovely week!

This episode Mo takes a turn in the hot seat and fields questions on potential contradictions in the Bible and the fates of exorcised demons.

We then go on to talk about some of our thoughts on why some Christian ladies seem to find it quite difficult to meet eligible suitors and vice versa. Suffice it to say it gets interesting talking about some potential issues that might be to blame and what sold our partners on us!

For our Hookups Peter strongly recommends checking out the Rurouni Kenshin Movies that have recently hit Netflix, these are hands down the very best live action adaptations of Anime in existence, check them out here, https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/70293105

Mo suggested an album by Mick Jenkins called the Water[s] have a listen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV0_UAbeyHs
