The Blacksmith's Furnace

Firstly apologies for the delayed upload, a few emergencies in the family meant we couldn't record on our usual Sunday afternoon but all is well now and in wanting to make sure an episode still goes up, I'm posting a re-upload of an older episode.

In light of recent exposure of SPAC Nation pastors in a piece by the [huffingtonpost UK](https://consent.yahoo.com/collectConsent?sessionId=3_cc-session_a71e9baf-2cae-4957-8b39-c193c2807646&lang=en-gb&inline=false) it's still relevant and a good refresher before an upcoming conversation about "Christian Cults" in general

Here's the original show notes;

The surest most impenetrable barrier to the truth, is presumption that you already have it!Dr C MisslerIn today's episode Peter has some questions and after a failed attempt to catch Mo slipping the conversation centred on two main topics,Which is more important, the ability to articulate good doctrine or the display of fruits that would be birthed from having good doctrine? and Is it worth challenging bad doctrine regardless of the risk of shaking the faith of an individual? In the absence of Rob it was a good conversation reflecting on our own approach to finding the balance between good doctrine and good works. We still had a few hookups for the masses of course.Mo Suggested another anime from Netflix, based on the Ghost in the Shell manga, Checkout Ghost in the Shell: ARISE

Peter also suggested checking out a rapper call NF whose, deeply personal and honest content is exceedingly dark and aggressive to the point of making Peter call him "Eminem if he was christian"Check him out here

*Behind the scenes*

Peter: Robert, let's do something scary for Halloween

Robert: Sure

*Podcast recording time*

Peter: What we talking about today Robert?

Robert: Sex

Need I say more?

For whatever reason, for Halloween and indeed at the request of the furnace to do something scary Robert decides it's a good idea to talk all things sex and addictions to it.

Mo takes the Hot seat during Sorry not sorry!, and for our Hookups Peter Suggested a audio drama podcast called Edge of Sleep, check it out here

MO suggested checking out an album that Peter made so much noise about, Augustine's Legacy by S.O. still is one of Peter's favourite albums, and from the look of things is turning out to be one that Mo likes as well!

Lastly Robert suggested checking out an app that claims to help with intimacy for Christians called Ultimate intimacy Check it out in your app store

The Rock and the Rockstar, reporting for duty to redeem an episode otherwise ruined by Roberts reckless behavior .

This week's episode was a bit of a technological miracle considering the original episode was lost because Robert's computer corrupted the files!

That said we do plead with you all to bear with us as the episode won't have the quality of sound we're used to ensuring. it will be back next week!

But given technology was the savior of this episode Robert decided our topic will be thrashing it and for that reason we talk about the benefits and burdens of the technologically advanced society we find our selves in

We also had some hookups, Peter suggested checking out a similar podcast to ours call the Black Berea podcast, check them out here [https://www.blackberea.com/](https://www.blackberea.com/)

Robert suggested checking our Kanye's new album Jesus is King and Mo suggested, in absentia, checking out a theologically dense album by Willie Will called the Gift! Welcome to another episode of the Blacksmith's Furnace.

In attendance today, the Rock, and the Rock Splitter/ Striker or, the wave rider/ walker and the wave parter or the more reasonable two thirds of the furnace Mo and Peter (dynamic duo moniker to be confirmed)

We had a great conversation about gay rights and the church stemming from the protests that led to Chick Fil a, a well known, Christian, fast food chain in the US, ditching plans to expand here in the UK after protests led by the LGBTQ+ community.

They were accused of having 'outdated' biblical beliefs and for supporting organisations that believed in gay conversion therapy and were essentially prevented from bringing what has been claimed to be the best fast food chicken in the states, here to the UK.

In their absence you might have to stick with your Nando's and KFC but in our hookups section Mo suggested checking out an old but still great track by Stephen the Levite called "What's the proof?"

Check it out here

Peter suggested checking out a podcast called Jocko Podcast

In the wake of Mental Health week, this episode was dedicated to discussing the issue from a Christian point of view. As usual there were differing views on the definition of the problem regarding mental health and what the solution should be.

Peter also took the hot seat and attempted to field questions on the validity of infant baptism and if Jesus was wiser than the wisest man to walk the earth.

For out Hookups

Mo suggested an old classic of a christian hip hop track; H.O.O.P.S. by Evangel

We finally were furnished with a full furnace friends!

Man lyk Mo made his triumphant return and answered the question on everyone's mind, where has he been!

Of course as a welcome back gift we allowed him to take the hot seat for sorry not sorry which he handled with no signs of ring rust by the way.

Then we got into a rather controversial topic most Christian households most probably would not like to contemplate.

It didn't end perfectly for the furnace folks, but I've already said too much.

For our hookups Peter suggested an app that can be used to better manage email newsletter subscriptions called stoop

Check it out here

https://stoopinbox.com

Mo suggested a game that challenged him recently called Wordscapes

Find it in ur preferred app store

And finally the Rockstar suggested a new book that his nose has been buried in recently

It's called Dating Gently and its really about redefining vulnerability

Check it out here [https://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Daring_Greatly.html?id=3rF7vvXa_yIC&source=kp_book_description&redir_esc=y](https://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Daring_Greatly.html?id=3rF7vvXa_yIC&source=kp_book_description&redir_esc=y)

The Rock and the Rockstar reporting for duty once again. It was a fun conversation about cancel culture and what it looks like in the church these days.

Hopefully neither of us get cancelled for the wildness we spewed.

Hopefully cancel redemption may be achieved with our hookups Peter recommended checking out a new podcast by Myriam Osei from the last episode, Journeys With.. it's a great podcast where Myriam talks to her guests about their journeys. It's informative and entertaining and a great listen.

Robert chose to give two hookups today, firstly he suggested, using a new open source live presentation software for church services called OpenLP it's a great application you can use to present song, and scriptures during Church!

Search for Open LP if you're interested

Robert suggested an old school classic album in his book, Adele 25, luckily he didn't choose to sing anything from it but it's definitely a great album

Welcome to another episode of the podcast, today we are joined by an incredibly inspiring young lady. She's got a passion for people and stories and so it's no wonder that at 25, she's already interviewed presidents, produced a documentary on disability and its stigma in Ghana, started a successful YouTube channel and has most recently started a new podcast.

We talk about her story, her passions and her podcast and it was a especially enjoyable conversation.

Please welcome the Lovely Myriam Osei!

Hookups were a no brainer today, Myriam's new podcast is just two episodes in at the time of recording but they've been two incredible stories that have provided jokes and a wealth of wisdom! You can check out "Journeys With..." on anchor, spotify, google podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaking of how you get your podcasts, Peter's hookup was the podcast app PocketCasts, it was recently made free where it was originally a paid app and bring all those premium features to the free version!

The Rock and the Rockstar back at it again this time joined by the inspirationally insightful Captain Emma Moore, who is a Pastor at Robert's Church.

After her last appearance of the Podcast it became painfully obvious that Peter was a fan and today's podcast really was Peter getting to ask all the questions he's had and marvel at Captain Emma's priceless responses.

A deeply thoughtful and informative conversation awaits!

Hookups

On a somewhat sadder note Peter's hook up is a version of the Friends theme song in a minor key.

It makes the whole song take a solemn turn and is perfectly fitting for what will be Friends being taken off Netflix soon.

Robert, thinking only of his belly, recommends a restaurant. It's called Honest Burgers and apparently is incredible value for money.

Captain Emma hooked us up with what turns out to be a great fun idea to try out for dinner; Homemade sushi bowls. it's fun and delicious and a great way to get kids involved in the dinning experience.

Today the Man of Flames was joined once again by the lovely Simi as well as the second half of his church's pastor pair, Captain Matt Moore. For Sorry, Not Sorry, Matt gave an overview of the Trinity.

The trio then discussed Matt's journey to officership as well as various stereotypes and preconceptions held by Christians and about Christians.

For Hook-Ups, Robert recommended the old school game show Catchphrase, Simi asked for prayers for Hurricane victims whilst Matt recommended Ted Talks and the Youtube channel No Dumb Questions (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVnIvJuTZqM5nnwGFpA57_Q)
