The Blacksmith's Furnace

The furnace may have gone off the rails a tiny bit with this one, so listeners please be advised that some may find some sensitive content here!

Let's get the clean stuff out of the way first with our Hookups for this week

Mo recommended using Pinterest as an aid to the visual artist

Bobby's hookup was the definitive Black Panther comic book collection currently on sale in Forbidden Planet

And Pete's suggestion was an online course provider named StackSkills who were recently featured in Engadget as having some incredible deals available on content for a plethora of subjects and areas of interest.

Bobby A's main topic for the day was compromise in relationships. Anyone who has ever been in a relationship before understands that there's always a bit of give and take involved with being with someone. This week we talk about how much is too much when it comes to compromising for your partner.

Unsuprisingly Bobby A actually based this off his reaction to the whole Black Chyna Sextape and how much compromise can be made when it comes to sexual preferences.

Hence the rating!

Unless you've been living under a rock, with no internet connection , you've probably at the very least heard about the latest movie in the marvel cinematic Universe, Black Panther.

It's been described by critics, as groundbreaking, revolutionary and overwhelmingly black!! Being the very first superhero movie featuring an unapologetically African protagonist.

Now while today's episode doesn't discuss the move, you have no spoilers to fear here, the movie is set in the fictional African country Wakanda, which among many things is notable for being untouched by colonisation.

We talk about what Africa would be like if it had never suffered the horrors of the colonial years and more importantly if Christianity would have gained such a foothold in Africa under such circumstances.

Of course we also brought some hookups and this time round Mo suggested a book that takes a critical look into art and the bible

Check out Art and the Bible

Bobby hooked us up with an album, and especially a song by Elevation Worship called Here as in Heaven.

And Pete presented a brain training app called Elevate that he suggested is perfect for training the brain on the go.

Seemingly, The hit show This is Us is quickly becoming a recurring topic on the podcast. In the show a white couple adopts a black baby and Bobby asked the furnace whether or not we would do the same.

Inevitably the discussion evolved into one about racism and when, if ever, it can be justified...

We rounded up considering traits we would adopt from religions other than Christianity.

In this week's hookups I talked about the Google Auto app which provides a unique interface customised especially for driving.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.projection.gearhead

Bobby suggested an Anime series with a title that translates to Your Lie in April, A slice of live anime about a piano prodigy who as a result of a curse his mother placed on him could no longer hear the notes he plays

https://ww5.gogoanime.io/category/shigatsu-wa-kimi-no-uso

And Mo suggested a youtube channel that provide really incredible Animated content that addresses Bible stories, topics etc

Ciara offers up advice from Pastor John Gray and the furnace, along with a special guest were on hand to offer up our opinions.

While the Internet, as usual, is absolutely outraged and have responded accordingly, dare I say, we had a more sober approach to his comments albeit mixed in with subtle shots here and there.

With Valentine's day looming we also look at how the day affects us now considering the different stages of our lives were currently in.

As usual we look to also hook you guys up with some things we've been loving form the past week.

Mos recommends the new Netflix series Black Lightning

Angela's hookup was also a Netflix series: Underground

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4522400/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Bobby A suggested it would be good to check out a youtube channel called Dope Spill that breaks down comicbook storylines and lore

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsse9rV_O6Y7lZaRQH_bcqw

And my hookup was a podcast called The Assassination put together by a journalist for the BBC World Service about the assassination of a Pakistani Prime Minister.

It's incredibly produced and a really captivating story

It's a somewhat morbid thought but the truth is, everyone will die at some point in their lives! Bobby A poses the difficult question of what we would do if we had just 6 more months to live...

It's an interesting thing to note how knowing life will end makes you live it more fully.

We talk a little bit more about that and of course we go off on a few tangents, one nice one being how CNN had conducted a study and somehow managed to come to the conclusion that Cuckolding was beneficial to romantic relationships. Of course the furnace didn't co-sign this but it was an interesting find.

As has become the norm we also had a few hookups

Mo's hookup with a reach of a spiritual spin was the netflix original animation Voltron. You'll have to listen for how Voltron was a metaphor for the Church.

Peter's hookup was a horror story telling podcast called Deadly Manners which caught his ear with it's incredible production and immersive storytelling.

And Bobby's hookup was a movie called The Prestige which is about two apprentice magicians trying their hardest to one up each other and be the very best.

What's the biggest and / or most hurtful lie you've ever told or been told?

That's how Bobby decided to open today's episode, so things got pretty dark pretty quickly but as always we had a fun conversation.

You do learn something new everyday too and we learned about the origin of Wonder Woman and its a very big departure from everything the character stands for today!

You'll have to listen in to find out but it'll definitely be worth your time.

The past couple of episodes have had our hookups segment and this episode shall not break from this norm, though quite abnormally we all had musical hookups this time round

Mo's hookup was the song Martyrs which was a song about, as the name suggests, Martyrs, it makes for a really intriguing story though so do give it a listen

Martyrs Feat. Json, Evangel, God's Servant and Techniq by Shai Linne

My hookup was an album by an artist named J Givens called El v Envy the song mentioned was track 11 Can't Say.

Here's the album on Spotify

Bobby suggested the artist Sza's Ctrl (control) album. He affectionately described her as real and vulnerable, I'm guessing traits he likes in his women, here's the album on Spotify

In last week's episode we had Bobby A suggesting Dave Chappelle's new Netflix comedy specials in our new Hookups segment of the podcast.

Now while we all mostly agree on Dave being one of the very best in comedy right now, in today's episode we look a little bit deeper at some of the things he said and some of the back lash he's getting from it.

Naturally that led on to some of the things society seems to be mad at now and what our thoughts are on it.

For those of you who are new, we have a segment called hookups where we tell you about some of the things we're enjoying at the moment and this week we have three new things to share;

Mo's hookup was a book called The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller, Bobby A suggested a TV series called This is US and my pick was the musical called Hamilton with a spotify hack! The links to everything will be at the end of the shownotes.

We hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing, and if you don't, please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing.

Y'all haven't heard from him in a minute but behold, the beast returns!!!! Hard as it is for me to admit , we've missed Bobby A for a bit but he's back and shaking things up already with the introduction of a brand new segment on the Podcast, but more on that in a second.

We're a week into the new year and in this episode we look back on the resolutions we didn't accomplish last year and why that was the case and how we're looking to ensure we achieve everything we've set ourselves this year.

Now back to Bobby A's new segment, it's called Hookup and its where every week we share something that's been keeping us busy or motivated, or just something we like that we think is worth someone else checking out.

This week Mo shared a Poetry book called Macnolia which is about a girl who was cheated out of winning a spelling B, that tease either completely piqued your interest or completely turned you off but please do check it out! Bobby A suggested Dave Chappelle's third instalment of his new Netflix specials, Equanimity and I suggested the Daily Audio Bible podcast which just as the name suggests is an incredibly enjoyable way to get through the entire bible in a year!

And a special shout out to Ade and his new podcast On court Off court which is a funny and informative look on all things BasketBall and Sneakers!!

We hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing, and if you don't, please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing.

It's been a while and major apologies for the inconsistency, but we're back just in time for the new year and in true new year new me style, we're looking to be better than ever

In this episode we look back on 2017. We reflect on where we were, where we are and where we want to be in the coming year.

Here's to another year in the bag, and more of whatever makes you glad!!

Cheers!!!

After two million years, the Beautiful Black Beast is back in the Furnace. In this episode he was joined by the lovely Angela and Esther. They discussed porn stars and their suitability as love interests, whether cleans slates apply to people with spotty pasts and what are non-negotiables when it comes to potential partners…
