The Blacksmith's Furnace

This week's episode was really about religion and the youth, with Bobby asking about how best the church can engage young people.

With most of us no longer fitting into the category it was a surprisingly difficult conversation to have, especially as one main thing, that turned the youth away, was the older generation being unable to truly prescribe something they'd find relatable.

The voice of reason thus easily became the lovely Kaylin who made her first appearance on the podcast and was the youngest person there.

Well eventually that's how things turned out but before that we saw the rather entertaining fall of Bobby A as all banter was made at his expense and seems he just couldn't afford it!

This will be one to remember!!

In this week's episode of the Blacksmith's Furnace, we're joined by Bobby's pastor, Captain Ashish Pawar for an insightful, humbling and inspiring conversation about the church and persecution.

Having experienced it himself as a young man in the college dorms of Mumbai, Pastor Ashish brought a sobering practicality to a conversation most of us in the UK have the luxury of avoiding.

Thanks so much Pastor, and if you'll oblige we'll most definitely be having you back.

If you could have a super power what would it be?

That's what sparked the discussion in today's podcast and that discussion revealed very clearly how much time I must have as I already had a well thought out answer in mind.

But as Christians a pillar of our faith is the supernatural and what that could mean for Christians and thus we also look at it from the point of view of the Christian, and how much our lives should look like a superhero's in view of how much Christ's life looked like a superhero!

You know those short form posts that get sent around in WhatsApp broadcasts, or that seemingly get shared literally for the fear of what ever bad thing they promise will happen to you if you don't share them with x number of people.

Well today we took one of those posts, this one claiming to be an excerpt from Myles Monroe about the 5 things a man should be before marriage.

We discuss, as three men in very different places in life, Mo's married, I'm engaged and Bobby A's single, and we thus have unique perspectives when it comes to the topic.

We hope you enjoy the episode and if you do please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing, and if you don't, please let us know in the comments and let your friends know by sharing.

It's the bank holiday Monday after the Easter celebrations and the furnace is back with an interesting conversation about the Relevance of Easter, the depiction of that monumental event, and r rated Hollywood movies based on the song of songs by Solomon, #FiftyShadesOfGrey

This week's topic of discussion is another listener suggestion! Reverse Racism: is it possible to be racist to a white person?

It was an interesting conversation that dipped into while privilege, modern day segregation and if there is such a thing as black privilege.

As always it's a great conversation with varying views but we manage to settle in some things by the end of the podcast, but as you know this is a conversation that needs too continue.

Riddle me this, What's Mo been through, Peter going through and Rob never even considered before?

Premarital counselling!

?

Yes in today's episode we discuss what we're learning, have learnt or would want to learn in these counselling sessions.

We also had an impromptu bit of improv from lil baby Leia on the piano which we all loved

With mothers day coming and international women's day just gone, The Furnace jumps right out of the frying pan into the fire that is feminism.

As guys what does feminism mean and look like to us? How can we best support our ladies? and a plethora of other discussion points are addressed from our point of view.

Wisdom would have us bring onto the show a lady who is better suited to keeping us in check on the matter and many thanks to the lovely Jemz who did just that.

In a rather dark and introspective episode we ask the question: what's legacy are you / do you want to leave behind?

Among other things the stark realisation that we might not be remembered by that many people outside of our families left us somewhat surprised but also spurs us on and hopefully will spur you on to think about what you'll leave behind and whether or not you should be doing something about it!

Apparently, I'm emotionally, unavailable, walled off and closed up with a superman complex and psychopathic tendencies.

And my dear friends chose to have an intervention for me, albeit an impromptu one, but in what, most possibly, has been the most uncomfortable episode of the podcast we talk about the importance of having someone to talk too in times of need.
