Well, we took an extra-long hiatus, so we're back with an extra-extra-long season premiere episode. No guest this week as we took our time to ease in to season five of Beverly Hills, 90210. This episode was recorded over two sessions, both of which were before the passing of Luke Perry, in case you're wondering why it's not discussed. If you missed it, you can listen to our memorial episode here. We cover a lot of territory in this episode; if you're interested in skipping ahead to our discussion of S05E01, "What I Did on My Summer Vacation and Other Stories," that part starts at about minute 70!

This week on "The Blaze with Lizzie & Kat" Beverly Hills, 90210 podcast, we're joined by multimedia sports and entertainment journalist Jarod Hector. We're working to bring you the best podcast episodes as we approach the end of season four of Beverly Hills, 90210, which unfortunately means our recording schedule has been a little unpredictable. So this week we're bringing you a fun update on one of this season's most memorable guest actors, as well as some news about where you can see 90210 stars and friends of the Blaze on TV this summer!
This week on "The Blaze with Lizzie and Kat" podcast, we spoke with Jen Grisanti, an acclaimed script and career consultant, writing instructor, blogger, and the author of three books: Story Line: Finding Gold in Your Life Story, TV Writing Tool Kit: How to Write a Script That Sells, and Change Your Story, Change Your Life. Jen began her career as an assistant to none other than the Mister, Aaron Spelling himself, who served as her mentor for 12 years. She quickly climbed the ranks and eventually ran Current Programs at Spelling Television Inc., covering all of Spelling's shows including Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, and Charmed.
Discussed in this episode: Actor David Youse's one-man short film, The Callback. Also, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free, confidential support 24/7 at (800) 273-8255.
Stars of the #1 Ugly Christmas Sweater meme of 2008, Jessica Aceti and Brian Kirk join us on the podcast this week, all the way from Seattle. Brian and Jess are game designers, and Jess is also the co-founder of Cap-Sac, the original fannypack for your head! You can even get your very own Blaze Cap-Sac from our merch site.
Discussed in this episode: this clip from actor Jason Majik's demo reel featuring "SEGA CD Interactive for INXS: Design Your Own Video."
"The Blaze with Lizzie and Kat" podcast is joined this week by screenwriter, Beverly Hills, 9210 [sic] fan, and thrower of astrological shade, Gil Hizon. We first heard about Gil Hizon when our previous guest Denise Hewett announced that his script Finding James had recently been optioned; you can read the screenplay on Scriptd. Gil will be teaching a workshop at Script Anatomy in L.A. on June 17, "The Business of TV Writing for the Emerging TV Writer."
This week we're joined by one of Kat's oldest friends, who regrettably is brand new to Beverly Hills, 90210. But, with a Master's degree in psychology and a lifetime of experience as a person who is blind, she offers some excellent insight into this episode. Donna is threatened as David develops an attraction to his piano tutor Holly, while Steve threatens the KEG President by outing him to the rest of the fraternity.
