NBA -
Giannis Antetokounmpo wins Back to Back MVPś along with DPOY becoming the only other player in NBA History other than Michael Jordan to win both titles in the same year.
Giannis had 85 1st place votes and 16 2nd place votes with LeBron with 16 1st place votes and 84 2nd place votes. I thought it was a lot closer a race, but looking at how the votes broke down LeBron had no chance. Do you think the Covid Break killed LeBrons chances to win the MVP?
Voting breakdown - https://twitter.com/_Andrew_Lopez/status/1307017731351379970?s=20

Playoffs -
Clippers give up a 3-1 series lead to the Nuggets to lose, 4-3. The most EPIC collapse. No one has ever come back from not 1 but 2 series on the cusp of elimination to beat the jazz and then the Clippers. Both times they were the HEAVY underdog, both times they came back and did not go quietly into the night.
Nuggets look to keep that drive going against the #1 team in the NBA, the TRUE Los Angeles… LAKERS! Snoop dog came out and replied to the nuggets players saying they are going to take out the lakers… ¨Snoop said Lakers in 5, we aren't the clippers sit down.¨ … Sir Charles said he would put every dime he has on the Lakers, after choosing The Blazers in the first round.

Miami Heat are up 2-0 over the Celtics with game 3 Saturday - Will Miami sweep? Or will the Celtics make a run and make things interesting?
If the Heat go to the ship, and the lakers do as it looks like they will, LeBron will be playing the team he won his 1st Championship with with the team he feels will end his career with.

LAKERS - Took Game 1 - 126-114
James was named to his 16th All-NBA team, breaking a tie with Kobe, Duncan and Kareem.

NFL -
The Browns came out SWINGING!! Granted… they beat the Rookie lead Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals did make it interesting in the end putting up 30 points but fell shy of the Browns who had an offensive breakout game for 35 points.
Fantasy breakout - Kareem Hunt had 1 rushing TD and 1 Rec TD racking up more then over 100 yards and out playing Nick Chubb. Chubb did have a solid outing with 124 yards rushing capped off by 2 rushing TDś.

Rams and WR Robert Woods agree to a 4 year deal with $32m guaranteed. It is worth a Max Payout of $68M! He will be under team control till at least 2025. He is coming off a 105 yard game in the Win against my Cowboys. Good for the Rams?

C.J. Anderson is retiring after 7 years in the NFL at age 29 to pursue a career in coaching. Through his 7 years in the NFL he had 1 Pro Bowl and a SuperBowl championship with the Broncos while rushing 234 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 3 playoff games during that run. He was never an ¨Elite” running back but he was a key player for some good teams and played in 2 Super Bowls, which not many players can who have played the game can say.

Joe Buck finds out during the Thursday Night game that he is this years recipient of the Pete Rosell award and will be joining his Father Jack Buck in Canton Ohio as the 1st ever Father-Son to be enshrined into the HOF. Last years Superbowl was 50 years since the Cheifs had been to the Ship, but also the only Superbowl Jack Buck ever called, 50 years later Joe Buck called the Chiefs Superbowl Win.

Fantasy News -
TE George Kittle out for week 2 with a knee injury. Will this linger throughout the season or do you think he will be back at it in week 3?
WR Kenny Golladay has been officially ruled out for Sundays game against the packers.

MLB -
Albert Pujols hits HR 661 and 662 passing the great Willie Mays on the All Time Home Run list. Making him 5th all time.
The Playoff Picture is getting clearer with 3 teams getting their tickets punched into the postseason. The Dodgers was the first team to solidify their place in the tournament, with the White Sox and Rays also punching their tickets later on in the week.
Yankees hit 13 home runs in 2 games!! The Bronx Bombers are back! But is it too late? Or are they going to make it into the postseason?

We also have a NEW NL HR leader on a team that actually matters, Mookie Betts hit his ML Leading 16th HR.

Before we get into today’s show, just wanted to take a moment to remember everyone we lost during the 9/11 tragedy. Even though it was 19 years ago we shall never forget.

Now, lets jump into it!

NFL -
OPENING WEEKEND!!
Moment of Unity - a sign of peace “boo’d” by small crowd in stands. Fans were allowed to be in the stands up to 20% of the total capacity. JJ WATT spoke out on twitter saying, “Booing during that moment was unfortunate. I dont fully understand that”. The Texans decided to stay in the locker room during the National Anthem and all but 1 Chiefs player stood during the Anthem. Thoughts?

TNF - Chiefs defeat the Texans 34-20 with the last 13 points that the Texans scored during “garbage time”.

First half of the game looked like it would be a close game with Texas stimeing the Chiefs opening drive and then again holding them to a field goal.. Before the Chiefs opened up a can of WHOOOP-ASS and held the Texans without a score till the end of the 4th quarter.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire… so far… Certified ground and pounder! Worth the price of admission. Although left a little to be desired at the goal line.. On several attempts he was unable to break through the goal line. Is that something to say about JJ Watt and the Texans D or something to worry about the break out Running back? Where did you draft him Artie?
Mahomes was almost perfect in his season debut, with a few balls getting away from him, but nothing the Texans penalties didnt help him get over.

New Onside Kick rule - No more running starts on the onside kicks really made the 1st attempt of the season seem like a waste of time AND the Chiefs almost ran it back for a TD!

Side note… Andy Reid’s face mask was fogged over so bad he could barely read his playbook! AND HE STILL lead the chiefs to a decisive win over the texans.
Texans RB Duke Johnson sprained his ankle during thursday nights loss to the Chiefs. His availability for Houston's next game on the 20th is now in question.

After that game Bernard Hopkins, who was traded away to the Cardinals, tweeted out THANKFUL … Interesting story about Hopkins … AZ coach tells him that he thinks he’s the best and he says I know. Opinion

This Sunday’s Picks -
The No Doubter -
Brent’s Pick - Ravens over the Browns
Artie’s Pick - Chiefs over the Texans … lol

NBA -
Teams are starting to distance themselves in the hunt for the championship. Lakers look to send the Rockets home as do the cross town Clippers to the Denver Nuggets. Looks like a Battle for LA in the Western Conference Finals.
Clippers blew a 16-point lead tonight, read it was the second time they did this in the playoffs this season. Love how the Rockets are awfully quiet after pumping their chests left and right during their first win.
HEAT, pun intended, stay on fire and eliminate the Bucks with a sweep. They are dangerous.
In the East the Heat blazed by the Bucks and are waiting for the winner of Boston and Toronto. The Heat look to be the team coming out of the East, who do you think would have a better chance of blowing out their flames? Boston or Toronto? Boston just advanced in the playoffs today beating the Raptors 92-87 in game 7.

ASStros fell under .500 for the first time this season.
Did you see the mural of Joe Kelly in LA? He actually took his family out to it and posed for pictures. That dude is a savage and I love it!!!

Dodgers were the first team to 20 wins and 30 wins … It’s starting to feel a little scripted. But the injury bug has hit them a little. Good thing they are a deep team/franchise.

Braves have gone bonkers scoring a ton of runs lately, setting the NL modern record with 29 runs and one shy of the MLB record. Adam Duvall has two .. THREE home run games in one week.

Red Sox Rookie Bobby Dalbec sets a new record with five consecutive games with a HR.

MLB -

Once again this week we mourn the death of another amazing individual. “Terrific” Tom Seaver passed away a few days ago. My dad… one of our most valued listeners woke my up today to remind me to talk about Tom and his amazing records and why he is in the Hall of Fame. Seaver was selected as an All Star in each of his first 7 seasons and 10 of his first 11 for a total of 12 All Star appearances in his 20 seasons. He won 311 games over his big league career. He struck out 3,640 batters to put him 6th all time. In 1970, during a 19 strike out game, he struck out a record 10 consecutive batters. He is one of baseball’s strikeout kings. ONLY 3 players have ever had a higher voting percentage than him when he was inducted. He appeared on 98.8% of the voting that year. The 3 players who had a higher percentage were Mariano Rivera(100%), Derek Jeter(99.7) and Ken Griffey Jr. (99.3). His career 2.86 ERA is one of the tops in all of baseball.

From one HOF Pitcher to the next… Dodger great Clayton Kershaw just threw his 2,500 strike-out. Another notch in the excellent resume of the future hall of famer. Only 3 other pitchers have reached the milestone in fewer games. Max Scherzer, Nolan Ryan, and Randy Johnson.

Bernardo Flores from Baldwin Park HS made his major league debut
Connection to SEAVER … Bernardo is the FIRST USC Trojan to pitch for the Chicago White Sox ,,, Prior to the game Bernardo actually gave him a shout out on twitter and thanked him for having an influence from a far.

Trade market … That was a wild one for the Padres who were buyers and shocked the world with all their moves. I liked most of them. 333

Angels had a fire sell, Dodgers even made a low key move.

Theory? Angels tanking and going for the No. 1 pick?

CONTENDER AND PRETENDERS segment? Who do you think with only a few weeks left in the season … will?

Futbol -
Brazillian “great” Neymar has tested positive for Covid 19 following a holiday to Ibiza. When will these “high profile” athletes realize that just because you have money, doesn't mean you are immune to a global pandemic? Covid sees no color, race, creed, or tax bracket for that matter. Everyone please stay safe so that you can keep your loved ones safe.

Contract dispute between Messi and Barcelona? Player opt out clause is the big issue, now says he is staying? Former teammate Sauarez is now joining his rival Ronaldo with Juventud?

NFL -
Kirk Cousins posted to his social media accounts that he is taking a “survival of the fittest” personal approach to the coronavirus… even if it kills him. He added, “if i die, i die and I kind of have peace about that.”

Adrian Peterson Cut by Washington - in a shocking move the washington football team released the future HoF Running back. Peterson released a statement, “It caught me by surprise. I was having a strong camp. It was showing up on film, taking #1 reps all week long, and was notified by the RB Coach that they wanted to give the young guys some reps, but there was no indication that Coach Rivera and the team were going to let me go.”
Where do you think he will end up? Would he be a viable RB to take during Fantasy Football Drafts?

Earl Thomas Saga? He posted a tweet asking for privacy but Mark Ingran called him out? Saying a gun was involved with his wife caught him and his brother hooking up with the same girl?

Leonard Fournette gets cut ends up with the Bucs, honestly thought he might go the patriots.
But was interesting to hear that they shopped him around and couldn’t even get a 5th or 6th round pick in a trade for him. Something is happening that we don’t know about.
He’s the no. 2 RB with Bucs saying … is still our guy, how fast does that change?

Lucas Giolito throws the 1st No-Hitter of the 2020 season. Stuck out 13 allowing only 1 baserunner in a 4-0 victory over the Pirates on Tuesday night a Guaranteed Rate field. With just 101 pitches Giolito blew right through the Bucco’s. After the game he said “Oh my God, I can't feel anything. I don't have words. I wanna cry. This is awesome.” Shows the “kid playing the game” feeling that comes with the joy of playing the game.

Aaron Judge Placed on IL by Yankees with Calf Injury Listed as Strain. The boy cant stay healthy! But the yankees are still kicking ass.

Trades - Angels trade Tommy Boy.. Tommy La Stella to the Mariners for a ….. Short Stop?!

MLB Discussing AL, NL Postseason Bubbles in California and Texas. MLB is currently discussing holding the playoffs at "controlled sites," according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. In the current proposal, the American League could have games in Southern California while the National League would have games in Texas, leaving the World Series to be played at a neutral site at the Texas Rangers' new park. Neutral sites could help prevent any cancellations that would greatly alter the playoffs.

The Slowest man alive… can still hit the ball! Pujols passes A-Roid on the all time RBI List. Only sitting behind Hammering Hank Aaron.

Diamond Backs right fielder Kole Calhoun uses the old “header play” when he was dead to rights on the base path during a rundown… was promptly called out although the announcers did mention that there was no “foul play”.

NBA -
Bucks players boycott game 5 vs Magic in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake. The Magic initially took the court for pregame warmups, but left after the Bucks players didnt show up. The Rockets and OKC have also boycotted their game. Labron comes out and states “FUCK THIS MAN!! WE DEMAND CHANGE. SICK OF IT.”

Giannis Wins Defensive Player of the Year and likely the 2020 MVP cementing his place among NBA’a greats. Only 4 other players have ever won Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, David Robinson, Kevin Garnett and now quite possibly Giannis Antetokounmpo. Only 2 of those players , Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon have won it in the same season.

Labron James is the ONLY player in NBA History to score 7,000 career playoff points, the Next highest player is Sir Airness himself with 5,987 points. Lakers eliminate Blazers 131-122 to move on. Lakers will play winner of the rockets - thunder...D with 43 and Labron 36 points

Most of the NBA Games and MLB Games did not play in protest of the Jacob Blake shooting.

SLAM Diego! San Diego Padres become the 1st team in MLB History to hit a Grand Slam in 4 consecutive games. Fernando Tatis Jr. started it off with that “controversial” 3-0 swing the other night.
Was it really controversial? Many pitchers and position players are coming to Tatis’ defence. Let the boys play!

Sports Brodcaster Thom Brennaman has been released from the Reds booth for “Anti-Gay Slur” during the Reds 5-0 victory over the Royals this past Wednesday. He was heard referring to “something” as “one of the f-g capitals of the world”. He later apologized and said "I used a word that is both offensive and insulting. In the past 24 hours, I have read about its history; I had no idea it was so rooted in hate and violence and am particularly ashamed that I, someone who makes his living by the use of words, could be so careless and insensitive. It’s a word that should have no place in my vocabulary and I will certainly never utter it again."

Boxing/UFC -
The Golden Boy is coming out of retirement at the spry old age of 47 to box again! The Golden Girl himself said it will be a real fight, NOT an exhibition like the upcoming Tyson/ Jones Jr. fight coming later this year. Adding that he misses being in the ring, he loves boxing and he just misses being in the ring. His plan is to fight between 154-160 weight class. De la hoya said these fighters no a days are only here for the money, there isn't any real competition. He will fight for the glory and thats why he will win.
How long do you think this fight will go? Will it go 12 rounds? 10? 5? What is your take on it? If the Tyson fight is a hit… and De La Hoya evades getting seriously hurt in his return… does this open the door for other retired fighters to come back?

Jon Jones vacates the Light HeavyWeight Championship title to move up to Heavyweight shortly after Daniel Cormier has announced his retirement after his loss to Steve Moicic.
Do you think the UFC tries to get Cormier to come back for 1 more fight against Jones? Its the fight everyone has been waiting for.

NFL -
Cowboy Legend Drew Pearson has been selected as finalists for the Hall of Fame class of 2021. Pearson has been chosen along with former Raiders Coach Tom Flores as the Senior and Coach Finalists. MANY former Dallas Cowboys amongst other Football Greats cheer for the fact that Pearson has finally gotten selected. Saying it has taken too long for this to happen.

Detroit Lions NOT Paying Calvin Johnson the $1 million they made him pay back from the $16 million signing bonus that he was given a few years prior to his retirement. He said the only way theyre going to get him back is to cut him a check. This isnt the first time the Lions have done something to their HOF Caliber players. In 1999 when Detroit Legend Barry Sanders retired unexpectedly, he was also forced to repay the franchise a 7 figure portion of his most recent signing bonus.

Alex Smith is back from almost losing his leg. Saying “ I dont think i could look my kids in the eye and talk to them about giving it their all and pushing through things”.

COMING THROUGH IN THE CLUTCH … To no surprise, is the NBA

Yale and the NBA partnered up to land the COVID testing breakthrough that the NFL and quite frankly everyone else in the US has been hoping for.
In a significant turn of events in COVID-19 testing, the US Food and Drug administration granted an emergency authorization for the public to begin employing a saliva-based test expected to significantly increase the availability, turnaround time and affordability of combating the coronavirus epidemic in the US. The test coined SalivaDirect is being called a “game changer.” Testing can be done for as little as $4 although retail price is expected to be higher than that. The turnaround is 48-hours.

NCAAF-
Everyone is opting out of Falls Sports. Pact-12 was on the verge of having a season with the Pac-12 student athletes sending a letter to the heads of the PAC 12 organization. They were ready to go suit up and play… under the right circumstances. We talked a bit about it last week, but now… the Pac 12 leadership has said… No.. They will forgo ALL Fall/Winter Sports for the 2020 seasons. They will revisit what will happen with the Spring Sports at the beginning of the year, but have basically shown that they do not care about the Student Athletes and what they feel they deserve. BIG10, Pac12 are opting out. Mid American Conference, UConn Sitting out as well.
The ONLY Leagues that are still “scheduled to play” are AAC, ACC (including Notre Dame), Big 12, Conference USA, SEC, Sun Belt Conference.

Of all the 32 conferences… do you think that they will all eventually cave and call of the games… or do they go on and hope for the best? … Was reading a report that this might be rescinded with the new game changing method for testing.
HS Football was already played in Utah, while everyone holds their breath and hopes that there are no major repercussions.

MLB -
Zach Plesac AND Mike Clevinger have been reinstated and sent to the indians alternate facility after it was found out they had broken quarantine. Plesac originally was told to keep driving straight home after it was found he had left the teams hotel. Later it was found that Clevinger had been with him. Since then, both were reinstated but have been sent down and are required to quarantine for 3 days before testing commences.

Stephen Strassburg gets tossed out of a game for arguing Balls and Strikes…. From the Bleachers… not the field.. Not the bench… but from the stands. Strasbourg was sitting in the stands enjoying the game when he started heckling the umpire for a few close calls that he didnt agree with. The umpire only stood for 1 comment from the peanut gallery.. The 2nd time around.. He promptly threw out Strassburg. Dave Martinez the Nats Manager was confused at first, he didnt know who had gotten tossed.. The Ump had to specify and “shoo” strasbourg out of the stands.

NY Mets were down 16-3 against the Washington Nationals… So.. they called on their star.. SS Luis Guillermo to come in and pitch at the top of the 9th inning. Throwing the HEAT with the old Gravity Sinker at 68 MPH. He did pitch a 1-2-3 9th to end the game. Smooth as butter.

We have come to the part of the show when we are talking MLB and we get the chance… nay the PRIVILEGE to talk about the Freeway Series happening today and tomorrow. Today… Kershaw Vs Sandoval on the bump. Kersh looked a little shaky in his last start.. So if the Halos come out swinging hard in the first few innings it may give them a chance to stay in the game. HOW DID THAT WORK OUT FOR THE ANGELS? Does Sandoval who is coming off a decent outing going 6 solid innings only giving up 4 hits and 2 runs. It IS his first game against the Dodgers but it will be a tough squad to pitch against. Mookie coming off of a 3 HR game the other day, on the contrary Trout is coming out hitting BOMBS since the birth of his son. Tied for 2nd at the beginning of the day with 8 HR’s Trout is on a tear only trailing Judge by 1 and leading Betts by 1 as well. JUDGE IS NOW ON THE DL, El nino just took the lead and it’s a two horse race. Pitching will definitely be the difference maker in this series.

I know I am wishing Bundy was pitching, WOULD LOVE TO SLAP HIM AROUND, but we cant always get what we want. Bundy’s numbers come against the A’s and SEA, one of which was a loss. Orioles fans have been on this hype train before - so be careful with all the wishing cause it don’t end well.

Seahawks Rookie is let go by the organization after attempting to sneak a woman into the team hotel. Rookie CB Kemah Siverand was a free agent rookie. He was let go by the Seahawks when he was caught trying to sneak a woman into the hotel, she wore Seahawks gear in order to try and disguise her.

Not 1 but TWO huge Tight End signings over the last week. George Kittle and the San Francisco Santa Clarita Forty Niners sign a 5 year $75 Mil contract. Making it the richest contract for a Tight end in NFL History. Travis Kelse signs an extension for 4 years for what will be about $57.25 Mil. This will be Kelse’s 3rd contract with the KC Chiefs. Looks like he isn't going anywhere for the rest of his career.

Quick Quiz!! - Who was the unofficial reason for the “3 batter per pitcher” rule?
