This episode has been a long time coming. No chapter in Romans holds the weight of this chapter in Christian culture. And it's our hope that what Noah shares today on this chapter can be a unifying help to reading this chapter in community with one another. This isn't a chapter to be skipped. If you've ever wondered why election is super important to Paul, then you should give this episode a listen. It is well worth your time.
Tune in to this episode to hear Noah explain the curses of the law. These curses are reiterations of many of the laws that came before in our study of Deuteronomy so Noah works through them a little more quickly. For a more detailed explanation check out the chapters between 12 and 26 in our back catalogue! Even still, Noah still takes time to process many of the interesting ideas behind this ritual and how much of the chapter is structured and it's well worth the listen!
This episode Noah finishes this whopping chapter eight of the book of Romans. Noah tackles a lot of hard verses in this chapter, explains many passionate addresses that Paul makes to the Roman church, and discusses many of the important parts of Paul's belief in the Holy Spirit that play such a vital role in the life of a Christian. Join us for this episode as Noah takes us further into the mind of Christ through the mind of Paul.
This episode Noah unpacks the final laws of this section of the book of Deuteronomy. It's been a long journey but we are now at the end of the section in the book where God handles specific laws and regulations and will now turn the attention back to the covenant between God and His people. We hope that this section has been life giving for you and that as we move through the last part of this book, God continues to give you peace.
We are splitting up this chapter into two episodes since Paul's culmination of so many themes is coming to a climax in this chapter and it deserves a very detailed survey. This episode Noah focuses specifically on the Holy Spirit of Jesus removing condemnation in our lives if we remain in the life and law of the Spirit. He finishes this section by showing how Paul sees the powerful goal of Christians is to become co-heirs with Christ. As always thank you for your support of this podcast and we hope this can inspire you to listen inwardly to the Spirit at work in your life so that He can give you peace.

This episode we continue through laws that govern human society for ancient Israel. Laws about marriage, justice, cheating with money, paying your oxen for his work, all show up in this episode. The focus of this chapter is a bit more haphazard as the laws in these later chapters are more unified generally than specifically. However, there is still great content and loads to meditate on in this episode with each of these laws and as always we hope this brings you some peace.

This episode Noah unpacks the complicated relationship Paul sees between sin and the law. Death to the law brings about freedom from sin. And going back into sin brings slavery and death. This chapter Paul speaks to the power of sin in our lives. He talks about a part of ourselves called the "flesh" or sarx in the Greek, which causes the beginnings of our sin in the world. This is the power of sin actualized in our bodies and becomes the force of desire that creates cravings and lusts for things. He explains how commands given by the law only trigger this flesh to sin all the more and how the true way to freedom is in Christ.

This episode we work through a section of laws that are designed to be a comfort for the fatherless, the widows, the orphans, the poor, and the cast aside. This is a great example of how kind the Israelite law code could be to those less fortunate than ourselves.

This episode Noah works through chapter six and the flowing water symbolism of baptism which unites both a Jew and a Gentile under Jesus. He works through how Paul isn't arguing for grace that's cheap. You have to die to sin even as Jesus died to sin. The Romans being baptized was the start of that unification and they must continue it with the resurrection of life within their own hearts which leads to choosing the way of Jesus over the way of sin. As always thanks for being a listener to this podcast and we hope it's brought you peace.
