Today on The Bowdell, I’ll be presenting a challenge and encouragement for those who tune in to watch/listen. Roughly 3 months ago, while driving home from prayer in the morning, the Lord Jesus focused my mind on an absolute truth that I truly believe will be life transforming.

* Genesis 2:8-9

8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

* Genesis 2:15-17

15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

* Galatians 5:16-21

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Today I decided to bring forth an encouraging and challenging post, specifically addressing the great necessity of discipling Sons. I give some testimony of this particular time in life with my own son, along with simple needs and suggestions that I see in our Community, State, and Nation.

* Colossians 3:20-21

20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.

I have come to the final lesson on the Fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5. I’ll finish the lesson by teaching about the pruning process Jesus speaks of in John 15. If you have any questions or feedback, definitely leave them in the comment section or message me directly.

Scripture Reference

* Galatians 5:16-26

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

* John 15

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

In Today’s video, I’ll be presenting the challenge to me/you about what and how Jesus is currently calling us to Follow Him. The Challenge to Follow Jesus begins as soon as we repent and make the initial confession of faith by baptism. This Challenge continues throughout the remainder of our lifetime here on Earth. I’ll testify to my current tasks and speak of how my calls to follow Jesus have come to pass in the past.

Scripture References

* Matthew 4

* Mark 1

* John 1
