We’ve done a few episodes on the proposed UCP curriculum now, but all of those have been on the level of academic critiques by subject matter experts.
But this proposed curriculum has also mobilized everyday Albertans in tremendous ways. To get a better understanding of what their concerns are, we reached out to the Albertans Reject Curriculum Draft Facebook page and had conversations with 3 of the members, which we’re presenting in 3 separate episodes.
In Part 2, we chat with Andrea Willman, a parent, a small business owner and a teacher in the Alberta School System who looks at the draft curriculum through all of those lenses. In particular though, Andrea highlights the fact that the education system is already strained last any reasonable measure, and the effect that the draft curriculum will have on teachers may well be what pushes many of them over the edge and out of teaching entirely.
