Brett kicks off the program by talking about Texas politics and his concerns over how Zohran Mamdani’s progressive ideology could influence the state. Brett reflects on his time living in Texas, praising the state’s culture, food, barbecue, and traditions before arguing that political leaders should not attempt to fundamentally reshape its identity. He plays clips featuring comments about white supremacy, economic exploitation, religion, and different faith traditions as examples of the ideas he believes are being promoted.
Bo Thompson from Good Morning BT is also here for this Tuesday episode of Crossing the Streams. Brett and Bo talk about the death of Jim Bakker at 86 and the lasting impact of the PTL scandal on Charlotte and the surrounding community. Bo reflects on Bakker’s rise to prominence during the 1980s, the PTL organization’s influence, and the fraud and conspiracy case that ultimately led to Bakker’s downfall. He also discusses WBT’s coverage of the scandal at the time, remembering reporters and anchors who covered the story as it unfolded.

Brett kicks off the program by talking about election anxiety and the importance of staying engaged without becoming overwhelmed. As Election Day approaches, Brett encourages listeners to vote, volunteer, organize, talk with their neighbors, and pay attention to issues affecting their communities. However, he warns against allowing political coverage, polls, headlines, and election maps to consume their lives or create unnecessary panic. Brett emphasizes that elections are important because they can influence laws, budgets, schools, healthcare, housing, and everyday life, but one election does not determine the future of the country.
We're joined by Brett Jensen to talk about the FBI and DOJ investigation into Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and possible financial irregularities. Jensen explains that the investigation follows previous inquiries by the North Carolina State Auditor’s Office, the SBI, and the State Board of Education. Brett kicks off the program with Pete Kaliner for this edition of The Hangover as they discuss the latest developments in the North Carolina Senate race, including Michael Whatley’s polling numbers and how they compare to previous Republican candidates. Brett and Pete turn their attention to former Governor Roy Cooper and his administration’s handling of disaster recovery following Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. They question how disaster funding was distributed, including millions directed toward affordable housing, while thousands of North Carolinians continued waiting for permanent housing and recovery assistance.
Later, Brett examines the growing debate over campaign finance and immigration as several candidates begin outlining their political priorities. He discusses Abdul El-Sayed’s comments about corporate money and Super PACs, questioning whether candidates can truly oppose big-money influence while still relying on political funding to win their primaries. Brett then turns to immigration, highlighting comments from Milat Keros calling for a faster pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who are already living and working in the United States. Brett pushes back on the idea of bypassing existing immigration requirements, arguing that the country has established rules and processes for becoming a citizen.

Brett kicks off the program by talking about the upcoming midterm elections and why they often fail to resonate with everyday voters. He questions whether Americans who are not deeply involved in politics are paying attention to congressional committee assignments, budget resolutions and procedural votes, arguing that many voters are more focused on competence, stability and better results than political drama. Brett also criticizes the constant stream of campaign advertisements portraying opponents as the worst people in America, saying voters are repeatedly told that every election is the most important election of their lifetime.
He argues that the midterms are often presented like the Super Bowl, while many Americans see them as a choice between competing political agendas. Brett calls for more meaningful debates where candidates can discuss issues openly rather than relying on attack ads and political jargon.

Brett kicks off the program by talking about an alleged mid-air attack aboard an Israel-bound flight and the growing tensions surrounding Iran. He discusses reports that an Omani co-pilot allegedly attacked and stabbed the pilot during the flight, creating a terrifying situation that forced passengers and crew members to intervene. Brett compares the incident to the fears surrounding the September 11 attacks and emphasizes the danger posed when aircraft become targets. He also connects the incident to the ongoing investigation involving five individuals believed to be Iranian nationals who were allegedly attempting to cause damage involving a U.S. B-1 bomber.
We're joined by Michael Whatley, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in North Carolina, to talk about Roy Cooper’s record on taxes and rising costs and the response to Hurricane Helene. Whatley argues that Cooper’s policies as governor contributed to higher housing, electricity and health care costs across the state, while criticizing Cooper’s opposition to various tax cuts. Whatley also takes aim at Cooper’s handling of Hurricane Helene, claiming the former governor was absent before the storm and failed to provide adequate support for Western North Carolina in its aftermath.
He highlights the federal relief efforts and rebuilding projects that have taken place since the storm while praising the resilience of Western North Carolina communities. Whatley also discusses the possibility of debates with Cooper, saying he would welcome the opportunity to challenge his opponent on taxes, costs, criminal justice and the hurricane response.

Brett kicks off the program with Pete Kaliner for this edition of The Hangover as they discuss President Donald Trump’s unpredictable political style, his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and the changing culture surrounding public appearances. Later, Brett examines the growing dispute between the Trump White House and several major news organizations following restrictions on CNN, MSNBC and Politico at a White House event featuring Chinese President Xi Jinping. Brett plays clips from CNN’s Erin Burnett and reporter Kristen Holmes, who describe CNN’s efforts to gain access to the event and argue that the network was denied editorial access despite submitting credentials. Brett questions CNN’s portrayal of the situation, pointing out that other media personalities and outlets were present at the event while CNN was restricted from participating in the same capacity.
