While the odds of such an “Average Joe / Average Jane” story becoming a reality are of the slimmest of slim variety, it certainly isn’t for lack of opportunity. For a few years now, the Delaware 87ers, along with several other NBA Development League teams, have held a series of open tryouts.
The Sevens, entering their fourth season as the Sixers’ NBADL affiliate, conducted their first round of auditions last Saturday at the Hockessin Police Athletic League Center in Delaware. The second and final session is scheduled for Saturday, October 8th at Temple University’s McGonigle Hall.
In this September 21st edition of The BroadCast, Sixers.com’s Charlie Widdoes and Brian Seltzer dial up Sevens General Manager Brandon Williams to find out how the initial batch of tryouts went, and hear about a special twist that took place. Williams also discusses:
*The Sevens’ preparations for the 2016-2017 season.
New Sevens’ head coach Eugene Burroughs, and the members of his staff.
*The state of the Sixers as the team readies for training camp.
The interview with Williams begins at the 1:56 mark of the podcast
