Srikumar Rao was born in India before moving to the US. He obtained a Ph.D. in Marketing from Columbia Business School before a career in the corporate world in Warner Communications, Continental Group, Data Resources INC and finally McGraw-Hill.

In the early 1980s he moved to academia, teaching Marketing and was also a regular contributing editor for Success, Financial World and Forbes. In 1994, Professor Rao created and began teaching a course known as Creative Personal Mastery (CPM). He has taught this course at some of the most prestigious universities in the US and UK.

Now Prof Rao teaches CPM privately across the globe and in corporate settings and it has its own alumni association! Prof Rao has also written 4 books. In 2005 he released, Are You Ready to Succeed? Unconventional Strategies to Achieving Personal Mastery in Business and Life. IN 2010 Happiness at Work: Be Resilient, Motivated, and Successful- No Matter What was released. In 2008 The Personal Mastery Program: Discovering Passion and Purpose in Your Life and Work came out and his most recent work, The Happiness Matrix: Creativity & Personal Mastery was released in 2012.

The Rao Institute is now recognised as one of the most important companies to help entrepreneurs and leaders develop and those who’ve come through CPM have gone on to lead some of the most successful businesses in the US and UK. Prof Rao has also given Ted talks and is a global keynote speaker of note.

Mark Hopkins, co-founder of TetraKey, met Prof Rao when attending the CPM course a few years ago and has felt the powerful impact of the course in every aspect of his life.
