Anyone who loves movies, especially genre movies, knows that part of their appeal is the feeling of escape that they offer. There’s nothing better than hitting play and slipping away into a world of fantasy for a little while. It’s such a good way to forget about the troubles of every day life. When you find yourself In a fairytale labyrinth, suddenly your mortgage, and utilities are a distant memory. When you’re surrounded by goblins, unicorns and other mythical creatures of lore, it no longer matters that your car is on the fritz. On your epic journey through the underworld to save a beautiful princess, you suddenly don’t worry about the fact that, no matter how many times you tweet him, Bruce Campbell is definitely NOT going to come to your birthday party dressed as Ash. Damn it Bruce! Just consider it! This week we decided to forget the troubles of the real world, and dive into two fantasy worlds of film, along with six packs of Sun Crusher Wheat Ale and Anti-Hero IPA from Revolution Brewing, and the company of our friend and fellow fantasy fanatic, Tank.

Episode 85 - Bad' Day, Mate!

Australia seems like an amazing place to visit. The Great Barrier Reef, The Sydney Opera House, Crocodile Dundee, Kangaroos, It all sounds great. Of course, Australia does have its drawbacks, as well. Poisonous snakes, gigantic spiders, blistering heat... and kangaroos. Yes, kangaroos made the pros AND the cons list, you know, because they are cute from a distance, but might also kick you in the nuts. Aside from all of those things, Australia seems to have one disturbing trend that we happened to notice as horror fans. They apparently really enjoy kidnapping, and torturing the living sh** out of you. Now, if we are wrong on this one, please feel free to let us know, but based on the fact that we get the majority of our worldly knowledge from horror films, we're going to keep to the InFront for now.... get it... OutBack.... InFront.... It's a play on wor.... never mind. This week we grabbed a six pack of Short's Brewery The Liberator, and discussed a couple Aussie films about being held captive. G'DAy.

Episode 81 - I-rish You Were Here

We don’t know a lot about Ireland. Basically, we know what we have been told by other people. All the typical stereotypes, you know? Like, the Irish like to drink, they like to sing, they occasionally fight just because they need a quick break from the drinking and singing, and everything else we learned from the Leprechaun series. Although stereotypes are usually considered a bad thing, we have to be honest, all of those things just make us wish we were Irish. We already like to drink and sing, we could get used to the fighting pretty quickly, and we don’t really think we would mind dealing with the occasional homicidal gold miser. So to honor our “cairde maithe in Éirinn”, we grabbed a sixer of Ireland’s finest Smithwick’s and talked about a couple Irish films that had us Dublin over.

Episode 80 - Good Touch, Bad Touch

If there's one thing that we can't stand, it's when people invade our personal space. The aunt who wears too much lipstick and always kisses us on the cheek at Thanksgiving, the close-talker boss with the coffee breath, the little brat behind us at the grocery store who won't stop kicking us in the ankle, and don't even get us started on the demons and black magic practitioners who can travel from body to body through touch. Ugh, they are the absolute worst. It's like, "Ok, we get it, you're lightening fast and seemingly invincible. That's pretty cool and all, but maybe you could cool it with the voodoo juju stuff for like two minutes, and respect the bubble." Speaking of villains who have the power to travel from body to body through touch, that's exactly what we talked about this week. We grabbed a couple bottles of Touch Of Red, a sour red from Oddside Ales, and discussed two classics with villains who get a little touchy feely.

Wow, really high praise. We’re not sure what self-deluded means, but it sounds pretty good. So, as you can clearly see, we don’t really know what it’s like to be met with anything other than critical acclaim, which is why we are so fascinated by the unlucky people on the other side of the spectrum. In a new feature called ‘Bad Brew’, we will be taking a closer look at some films that have been universally panned. First up, The Island Of Dr. Moreau. You might know the name, you might not, but if you are a fan of good slowburn horror with plenty of drama, mood, and tension so thick you could cut its heart out with a ceremonial dagger, Ti West is your guy. Obviously, we are big fans. This week we stopped at our favorite store on the Eastside and grabbed some West Coast IPA from Green Flash Brewery, then discussed one of our favorite Ti West films as well as one that was new to us. Episode 77 - To Grandmother's Brewhouse We Go

As we wrap up "Women In Horror Month 2018", we wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to the unsung heroes of the horror world, the grandmothers. Where would we be without our grandma's. They make sure we are always well fed, they provide us with nuggets of wisdom in times of trouble, they bake the most amazing cookies, and have a secret way of making pancakes that no one else can replicate, they knit us the softest sweaters (although the last one was the same color as the neighbors missing dog). Oh, and don't even get me started on Grandma's famous meatloaf. It's so delicious (Even if I did find a few hairs in mine... that were the same color as my new sweater). Hmm... You don't think Gram-Gram would...... no, that's crazy. Right? Well, anyway this week we decided to show some love to the grannies of horror by grabbing something to keep us regular, a six pack of Imperial Plum IPA from Breckenridge Brewery, then had a chat about a couple killer grannie flicks.
