Episode 125 - Over The Hill, Time To Kill

Getting old kinda sucks. Getting out of bed is a slow, painful process, our hair is falling out, our doctor says that if we don't stop "cramming our fat faces with pizza rolls and beer" then we're probably "going to die soon", and worst of all, for some reason whenever a group guys in their 30's try to play cops & robbers, someone always calls the real cops.

On the plus side, we are about halfway to retirement. So we have that to look forward to. Although, believe or not, the pension plan for a weekly Michigan-based horror and beer podcast is not really that stellar, so we're probably going to have to become Wal-Mart greeters anyway.

However, it turns out that getting older isn't quite as tough for people who are at the top of their games. Some people stay in their prime, even after retirement, and this week we wanted to celebrate two such men. We decided to shake things up with a couple of action flicks, so we grabbed some Albino Assassin Squid Red Rye IPA from Brewdog, and discussed two professional killers who couldn't be slowed down by old age.

Episode 124 - Norse Mixology

We'll be honest, as fans of the outdoors and beautiful landscapes, any of the Nordic countries seem like they would be a lovely place to go camping or hiking.... or drinking. However, as horror fans, we gotta say, we're a little torn on whether or not it's worth the risk. Sure, here in the States, we've got some creepy stuff going on; haunted hotels, phantom lights in the woods, bigfoot... stuff like that, but that's really nothing compared to what's running around in the Nordics. Trolls! Angry Norse Gods! The KRAKEN, for crying out loud! We know what you're going to say, and we get it, they are probably just old stories. Well, stories have to originate somewhere, and honestly we think we'd have better odds against some floating lights in the woods of Paulding Michigan than against Odin and his giant eight-legged nightmare horse. We still love watching movies about people who aren't as cautious as us though. So this week we grabbed some Ulfrun Session IPA from Borg Brugghus, and discussed two films inspired by Norse Mythology.

Episode 123 - Secret Syncronicities In Cities In Sync With Syncronicities

Three years ago we wrote down a list of seemingly random words.

Mysterious emails, goblins, paranormal investigators, disappearing medical professionals, mothmen, conspiracies, prophecies, spirit boxes, Kentucky, Canada, Newkirk, taroh cards, abandoned train tunnel, spirit box, 3rd order, ink and black.

We didn’t know why we wrote the list.... until we watched the the first season of Planet Weird’s documentary-series, Hellier, and realized that the show correlated with every last word on that list. It was too freaky to be a coincidence. There’s a word for that, but we can’t think of it. Hmmm..... syntax? No that’s not it. Sophism? No, No, not that either. Somnambulism? That’s not right. Ah, whatever, we’re sure it’ll come to us.

Anyway, this week we hunted down some Hobgoblin Legendary Ruby Beer from Wychwood Brewery, and discussed Hellier Season 1.

Episode 122 - Mike Dies At The End

Everybody has that one friend. The friend who, despite all of your desperate pleas, can never tell you about a movie without ruining the ending. However, for some reason, you keep talking to that person about movies. It is a hell of your own making, and you’ve convinced yourself that, because you love that devil so much, you don’t mind the burning.

Well, guess what. This week, we are that friend. Mike dies at the end of this episode. There, we ruined it for you. Is it even worth listening to now? Well, yeah we think so, because you know what, sometimes it’s about the journey, not the destination. Yeah, that sounds good. We like that. Your friend is still a dick though.

This week we grabbed some Jet Black Heart Oatmeal Milk Stout from Brew Dog, and discussed a couple movies that your friend doesn’t have to ruin, because the titles do it for them.

Episode 121 - The Shape of Drunk to Come 3

This is our year, everybody! We just started our brand new careers, with triple the pay that we were making before, we’ve stuck to our resolution to get in shape so well that our six packs are already starting to show, we’ve gained thousands of listeners just in the last couple weeks, and not only did our dog that ran away in high school come home, but we found out that he was actually being held hostage by our high school bully, and before escaped, he bit the dude in the balls. Yep yep, things are looking up for us.

This is just a small look ahead at what NEXT year will be for us. It’s gonna be sweet. As far as this year goes, there are some pretty awesome horror movies coming out, and that’s pretty rad too.

Episode 120 - Happy Brewed Beer

Another year come and gone. We can hardly believe it. 2018 was a heck of a year. We made a lot of memories, but unfortunately we also forget a lot of it. Which is why this year our New Year's resolution is to quit drinking. We're pretty excited about the idea of living a nice clean life, you know?

Well, actually just a quick little amendment to that resolution. We're going to quit drinking during the week. Unless there's a special occasion, of course. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations... stuff like that. Well, and Wednesdays, because that's when we record this show. Also, when we get together to watch movies, or play video games because that's part of the fun. Maybe just one or two at dinner time as well. You know, to pair with our food. Probably a couple glasses of red wine here and there... For the antioxidants. But aside from that.... We are done!

So anyway, Happy New Year, everybody. This week we celebrated by cracking open some tallboys of Champagne Velvet Brand Beer, and discussing a little 1980 holiday gem by the name of New Year's Evil.

Phew! All That typing made us pretty thirsty. Cheers!!!

Episode 118 - I Know What You Drank Last Summer

We're going to start off by just laying our cards on the table here. We have no idea what you did last summer. Hell, we don't even know what we did last summer. That's because in the proverbial 90's teen-ensemble horror flick of life, we're not the cunning killer, watching our prey from the shadows. We're not spending a year plotting our revenge, then methodically dispatching the beautiful, affluent teens one by one. Nope, we are the drunk the idiot, hanging out the sunroof of the car, howling into the night, and pounding whiskey, while our equally idiotic friend drives 90 mph around hairpin turns on a deserted seaside bluff.

So in honor and recognition of our awareness that, should we ever come face to face with a homicidal, hook wielding psycho, we would definitely not make it out alive, we grabbed some Gosling's Black Seal Bermuda Rum, some Gosling's Ginger Beer, spun up some Dark 'N Stormy's and sat down for a discussion about the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" franchise.

On this very special episode, we decided to throw our normal format out and bring you right into the delivery room. Listen as Mike, Jim, and Justin expertly guide Baby Roommate into the world, and directly into his new permanent spot on the podcast.

Ok.... not really. That was the plan, but it turns out you can’t just make a woman go into labor when it’s most convenient. So instead we grabbed some O’douls for preggo, some Big Red Coq from Brewery Vivant, and prepared Jen for what’s to come by discussing two movies that deal with very realistic concerns for a new mother.

We have always wondered what it would be like to have a twin? Playing pranks on people and trading places would be awesome, plus, you would have a built-in best friend. Then, of course, there's the added bonus of having someone you could easily frame for murder. Whoa... that got dark really quick, but hey, it happens right?
