  • EP 145: BAD BREW Piranha II: The Spawning
Episode 145: BAD BREW Piranha II: The Spawning
Piranhas are any of several small South American freshwater fishes that eat other fish and sometimes plants, but occasionally also attack humans and other large animals that enter the water.
Piranha 2: The Spawning is an American film, shot in Italy and Jamaica by a Canadian, with a cast of actors who look suspiciously like other actors, that tells the story of mutated Piranhas that can survive in the ocean, fly like birds, and breath out of water. If you’re not on board yet, just know that it is also chock full of sexual tension.... between a mother and son.
We don’t really feel the need to make too many jokes about this week’s Bad Brew feature, because the description of the film pretty much speaks for itself. So grab a sixer BJ’s Piranha Pale Ale, and sink your teeth into Piranha 2: The Spawning to find out if it can stay afloat in a sea of scrutiny, or if it’s dead in the water.

  • EP 144 - A Hole Lot Of Trouble
Episode 144 - A Hole Lot Of Trouble
Most adults see a hole in the ground and think to themselves “Hmm, there’s a hole in the ground.” Then they go back to thinking about whatever normal, boring people think about, like the incredible deal they got on a new Chambray shirt at Lands’ End, or how excited they are to discuss the 20% Saver’s Tax Credit on their Roth IRA, at their monthly couples game night with Glen and Susan Bedford.
Lucky for people like us, we have retained that sense of childlike wonder, and a simple hole in the ground represents endless possibilities. What if there’s treasure, a doorway to an underground city, or someone hid beer and nudie mags down there? Never mind the fact that we are old enough to buy beer and nudie mags. That’s not the point.
As with all things though, we approach holes in the ground with a fair amount of caution, because, as horror fans, we know that we may venture into a hole looking for hidden treasures, but may stumble upon a world of unseen terrors.
This week we grabbed some Hop Rocket Imperial IPA from Arcadia Ales, and discussed a couple movies that deal more with the latter scenario. Cheers!

    EP 143 - Boar'd To Death
If you’re not a pig person, this episode is going to be extremely... boaring. Haha, sorry that was just our ham-fisted attempt at being funny. You won’t actually be boar’d, because the beauty of this show is that you can still go about your daily business while listening. You can listen while you’re bacon a cake. You can listen in the porking lot while you’re waiting for your kids to get out of school. Heck, if it’s nice snout-side, you can even listen while you moo your lawn. Oops sorry, a cow pun worked its way in there.
Anyway, this week we grabbed some Gnarl Chestnut Amber Ale from North Peak Brewing Company, and discussed the cinematic sty-lings of two Australian directors with a pig penchant. Cheers!!!

  • EP 142 - Stay For The Pay
Episode 142 - Stay For The Pay
How much would it take for you to stay in a haunted house for the night? $1000 and a six-pack of utility beer? What if the house had a very dark past, and the spirits inside were extremely restless? $10,000 and a case wine, perhaps? What if the house itself was literally alive, and could pretty much kill you whenever it was done playing sick tricks on your mind? $1,000,000 and a truck load of bourbon? Stop right there! You had us at "six-pack of utility beer".
This week we grabbed some Dweller Double White IPA from North Peak Brewing company, as well as our precious utility beer, and discussed a couple films that find the characters wondering if the stay is really worth the pay. Cheers!!

    Episode 141 - A Buzzed Kill Countdown - Top 10 Aliens
We are back in full-force this week. J-Rog has returned from the beautiful Hawaiian Islands an honest man, we are back home at Ocean Recording Studio, and everything is right in the world.
In fact, everything is almost a little TOO right in the world. It's got us feeling a little uneasy. Being horror fans, we like to find a comfortable balance between things being great, and things being terrible. So, what's the best way to recover our horror equilibrium when the world seems a little too perfect? Well obviously, we do an episode on the single greatest threat to our perfect world. That's right, ALIENS!!! This week we are doing a top 10 countdown of our favorite ones, and we're drinking the absolutely out-of-this-world Luminous Lemon Ale from Right Brain Brewery while we do it. Cheers!!!

  • EP 140 - A Very Pacific Way To Die
Episode 140 - A Very Pacific Way To Die
It's our second week without our sound architect, J-Rog, the producer extraordinaire. He is currently enjoying his second week in paradise with his beautiful new bride. Of course that sounds like a lovely time, but you guys should know by now that... well we worry sometimes. Call it byproduct of being horror fans, but our minds tend to go to the places that most others don't. Like of course, being on an island in the middle of the Pacific sounds wonderful, but what about all of the terrible things that could befall you.
This week we take a look at two of the most common causes of death among tourists in paradise. Being trapped in a cage nearly 50 meters below the surface of a freshly chummed ocean, and volcanoes that spew forth fire spitting arachnids that bleed lava. Grab some Hanalei Island IPA from Kona Brewing Company, and join us. Cheers!!!

  • EP 139 - Revengers: Deadgame
    EP 139 - Revengers: Deadgame
There seems to be a big focus on avenging these days. Avenging, to avenge, possibly carried out by an avenger of some sort. We’re not sure why everyone has this word on their lips, apparently some sort of huge cultural phenomenon or something, but all this talk has us thinking about the word Avenge and its more gritty cousin. REVENGE! They are somewhat interchangeable, but to us, revenge seems more personal. A little less about justice, and a little more about retaliation. A little less about righting wrongs, and a little more about doing damage.
Oh, here’s a cool idea. Someone should make a movie about a group of people who are wronged, and band together as a team to exact their revenge. It could have a cast of huge Hollywood celebrities, and it could be called.... REVENGERS! Yeah, that’s cool. Someone should get on that. Anyway, this week since we were thinking about revenge, we grabbed some Anti-Hero IPA from Revolution Brewing, and took a look at two of the 90’s best revenge offerings.

  • EP 138 - Till Death Do Us Party!
Episode 138 - Till Death Do Us, Party!
...To have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.
That’s kinda nice. Except for that whole “for better, for worse” part. What’s that all about? As horror fans our minds can go to some pretty dark places. Exactly how “worse” are we talking here? Like if the groom calls the bride the wrong name while giving a toast, is that a deal breaker? What if one of the families interferes with the relationship a little too much, by trying to steal the brides body for a dark ritual. What if the groom becomes possessed by a restless spirit? All we’re saying is, make sure you consider all the possibilities before you take those vows and end up living with a literal demon for the rest of your life.
Marriage is what brings us together today. The marriage of our production wizard, J-Rog, and we couldn’t be happier, because we love him and his bride-to-be, and also because we have found no threat of demon possession. Should be smooth sailing for a lifetime. So grab some Island Bliss from Evil Twin Brewing, and help us send the happy couple off to their wedding in paradise. Cheers!!!

  • EP 137 - Going Full Wood
Episode 137 - Going Full Wood
It's our second, and final, week without our buddy Mike on the show, and we are really starting to feel the hurt without him here. We miss his musk. We miss his laughter, and the way that he always laughs at his own jokes. We miss the way he always ruins his jokes that actually land, by explaining them immediately after. God help us, we even miss his beautiful, stupid face. It feels like, everywhere we turn, we still see that face staring back at us. Mostly because we still pretty much hang out every day, but even when he isn't around, somehow, there he is. It's gotten to the point where his magnificent visage is even showing up in the movies that we watch.
Well, that part can be explained, because this week we watched two films starring Elijah Wood, who Mike bares a striking resemblance to. We miss him so much, we decided it was the only thing we could do to get us through his final week of absence. So grab a sixer of Treebeard IPA from Arbor Brewing Company, and join us as we go Full Wood! Cheers!!!

    Episode 136 - Sip/Tuck
Our good buddy Mike is off this week, and in full recovery mode. After years of dealing with an issue that has really affected his ability to live life to the fullest, he went under the knife to get it corrected. We were all pretty nervous about it, and wondered at times if it was something he really wanted to do.
Just last week we said to him, "Listen man, it doesn't really matter how much it curves, it's all about how well you use it. Like, yeah we get that it's really unpleasant to look at, and sometimes it just straight up doesn't work, but is this surgery really worth the risks involved?"
Still, with all of that said, he insisted, and on Thursday he finally went in to get his deviated septum fixed. Wait... what did you think we were talking about? Get your minds out of the gutter, you pervs.
So this week, our good buddies Tank and Jansypants joined us to pay tribute to Mike the best way we knew how. By drinking some Smells Like A Citra Safety Meeting IPA from Dark Horse Brewing, and peeling back the skin of a couple flicks about plastic surgery with unexpected side-effects. Join Us. Cheers!!!
