  • EP 135 - Dying Of Laughter
Episode 135 - Dying Of Laughter
Laughter is indeed the best medicine. When the chips are down, and the deck seems stacked against you, sometimes all you need is a good laugh. Your boss is being a jerk? Laugh it off. You get a speeding ticket? Laugh it off. An immortal being drains the life out of you through a hole in your neck? Chin up, pal! Torn to shreds by a pack of werewolves? Brush it off, and have a laugh! A possibly dickless machete-wielding murderer in a ceremonial Mayan mask splits you open while you’re on vacation? Don’t sweat the small stuff. Pick up your intestines, have a few good chuckles, and move on.
This week we get into the lighter side of life with a couple horror comedies, and some Piña Playa Gose from Brewdog. Come join us, and laugh til you die. Cheers!

Episode 134 - Horror Of Biblical Proportions
Life gets pretty hard, and things can seem pretty hopeless at times. If you’re a religious person, there is always one place you can turn in your time of need. Whether it be by picking up the Good Book, spending some quiet time praying, or perhaps indulging in a glass (or seven) of the sacrament, you can always turn to God. But what do you do when it seems like even God is out to get you?
This week we grabbed some Even More Jesus American Imperial Stout from Evil Twin Brewing, and discussed a couple flicks that ask, “What hath God wrought?”

    Episode 133 - Now You're A Man, A Mer Mer Man!
“Moisture is the essence of wetness, and wetness is the essence...... of TERROR!”
That’s not how that goes, but when you have an opportunity to lift a Zoolander line, you just make it work.
Listen, we are simple men. Not very hard to please. We love and appreciate the beauty of all women, but we have to draw the line somewhere. We’re honestly not trying to be shallow (pun intended), but if you have fishy bits where half of your fun parts should be, you’re going to have to work a little harder for our attention. Not too much harder, we are just men after all, but you’re definitely going to have to give us an extra compliment on our sleeveless Iron Maiden t-shirt. And just for a few extra points, maybe just don’t try to feed us to a sea-dwelling Elder God, or put a death curse on us. It’s the little things that really go a long way.
This week we grabbed some Merman NY IPA from Coney Island Brewing Co., and took a look at some mermaid flicks that feature men who may not be quite as picky as us. Cheers!

  • EP 132 - To-be Or Not To-be Directors Spotlight: Tobe Hooper
Episode 132: To-be Or Not To-be Directors Spotlight: Tobe Hooper
With a career spanning nearly five decades, Tobe Hooper definitely carved out a spot for himself in the annals of horror history. Whether he was introducing the world to a classic horror icon like Leatherface, propelling the careers of genre legends like Robert Englund, or working alongside industry giants like Steven Spielberg, Hooper has proven himself to be a Master of Horror. From cannibals and poltergeists, to crocodiles and genies, he has done it all, and if there is something you’re afraid of, it is likely that Tobe made a film that will pull you deeper into your nightmares.
So with that in mind, we decided to watch two of Hooper’s less talked about films that deal with our individual fears. Mike’s irrational fear of spontaneous human combustion, and James’ irrational fear of oiled up naked men, riding horseback through the desert sun.
Grab some Smashbomb Atomic IPA from Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery and join us.

    Episode 131 - The Dark Brew-niverse
The classic Universal monsters. Dracula, The Mummy, The Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster, The Gillman, The Bride of Frankenstein. If you mention any of these names to a horror fan, they conjure up amazing memories of classic moments in horror cinema history. The dark, tragic, romantic, Gothic, sometimes sexy, and always horrifying imagery of those films has stood the test of time.
However, like everything in Hollywood these days, Universal decided that the original monsters needed a facelift. Enter The Dark Universe. Universal's attempt to bring the classics into the present for a new generation, while hopefully paying attention to the basic needs of the classic fans.... right? Not Quite.
This week we grabbed some Magic Hat Number #9 "Not Quite Pale Ale", and looked at Universal's two attempts at kickstarting a new universe of terror.

  • EP 130 - Attack Of The Killer Combos
Episode 130 - Attack of the Killer Combos
Before you freak out and start throwing away the contents of your snack cupboard, no we are not talking about the delicious cracker/pretzel treats that are stuffed with pizza flavored cheese product. When we say combos, we mean the unholy union of two or more creatures to create one finely tuned killing machine. You know, like a mix between Tiger and an Owl to create a Towel, or a Bird and a Baboon to create a Birboon, or a Shark and Mike's penis, which is basically just a shark, but its spine curves drastically to the left. You get the point.
So this week, we grabbed some of The Mighty Shorse Imperial IPA from Short's Brewing, threw some Hybrid Animal flicks into the mix. Cheers!

  • EP 129 - The Art Of The Kill
Episode 129 - The Art of the Kill
This latest offering from The Buzzed Kill Podcast assembles two of the most immersive installations of horror artwork of the past decade. Each piece controversial in their own way, yet profoundly moving in execution. A haunting aura of existentialism surrounds this heterogeneous ensemble of horror personalities. An analysis of these works by The Buzzed Kill Podcast reveals a Borgesian journey into horror that will challenge the listener, while at the same time, bringing to light inquiries into the very notion of horror itself.
Uhhhh.... yeah. We don’t know what that was? Our new writer just graduated art school, so it was this, or fry cook at Coney Island.
Anyway, this week we grabbed some Tosti Asti sparkling wine, and attended our own personal art Gala with two films that explore the darker side of the art world. Cheers!

  • EP 128 - The Details Are A Bit Foggy
Episode 128 - The Details Are A Little Foggy
There's a reason that we use the word 'fog' when we are describing things that aren't quite right.
"I don't know, the details are kinda foggy"
"I've been away for so long that it's really fogging up my memory"
"Man, too many tequila sunrises last night. I woke up in a fog"
"Dude we forgot to post our episode for two days. What the Fog is wrong with us?"
It's because a thick blanket of fog is natures way of saying, "I've got some secrets too."
We never really know what is lurking out there in the fog. Could be nothing. Could be your worst nightmare. And the more you strain your eyes to see through it, the more its swirling tendrils take shape and reveal that the fog itself might just be the real monster. ...Or you know, it's just low hanging condensation that forms when the difference between air temperature and dew point is less than 4.5 °F. Either way this week we grabbed some Hazy Little Thing IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., peered into the murky abyss for a comparison of The Fog (1980) and The Fog (2005).

  • EP 127 - SNAP! CRACKLE! KILL!
Episode 127 - SNAP! CRACKLE! KILL!
Hey guys!!! Jim from The Buzzed Kill Podcast here. I just wanted to jump on here to discuss a topic that is very important to me. Cereal. Breakfast Cereal. I hate it so much. Just thinking about it right now makes me want to take a knife and go stab every single box I can find... then burn down the store. Seriously, just murder every single box of breakfast cereal that I can fi.....
    What?
    Ohhhhhhhhh.
Ok, there's been a little misunderstanding, guys. It's SERIAL.... SERIAL. This week we are talking about serial killers... apparently. Sooo, I don't have too much to say, because I watched the wrong movies... which were actually just videos that I shot of myself tearing up boxes of cereal with an ice-pick. This episode could get awkward. Anyway, this week I will try to fake my way through a conversation about serial killer films with Mike and J-Rog while we down some Cereal Killer Barleywine from Arcadia Brewing Company.

  • EP 126 - Should I Stay Or Should I Go
Episode 126 - Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
Oof. The Salem Witch Trials, amirite? Not exactly the proudest moment in American history. People would hunt “witches”, and the criteria for what made you a witch was pretty broad. You’re a married woman with no children? WITCH!!! You’re a middle-aged woman? WITCH!!! You're a woman with spoiled milk in your home? WITCH!!! You’re a..... woman? Definitely a WITCH!!!
Like we said, not exactly a shining moment in history. These trials were so ridiculous that the term “witch hunt” is used these days when someone is trying to prove something without having any evidence.
That’s where this episode comes into play. We went on a bit of a witch hunt of our own this week. We set out to watch and discuss two films that we toootally thought were about witches, and they toootally weren’t, but we grabbed some Witch’s Hat Train Hopper IPA anyway, and put these two flicks on trial.
