In this month's podcast we have some unfamiliar new names - along

with some regular favourites. The emphasis though falls upon a special charity event well worth supporting for a well known and much loved performer who for some time has been unable to sing.

Welcome to our first podcast of 2024. This month's podcast has a mix of songs you are bound to recognise from The Great American Songbook. The album of the month goes back some years as we pay a tribute to someone who contributed to the New York music nightlife for over 40 years and should not be forgotten.

There is a definite theme to this month's visit to The Cabaret Room, with a collection of what I would guess are unfamiliar seasonal songs from the likes of Michael Feinstein, Joyce Breach and Billy Stritch, to even a song called I Don't Believe in Christmas.

Winner of the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, Samara Joy is in London this month as well as fellow American entertainer Billy Stritch at the Crazy Coqs and its a first time visit to the show from jazz vocalist J.D Walter who will be a

new name to many.

October looks like a busy/wide ranging month for cabaret/jazz here in London and New York, especially as vocal group the New York Voices are at Ronnie's and the unique Steve Ross at The Pheasantry, plus a new voice Samara Joy should have a full house at Dizzys in New York. All that plus Album of the month from an extraordinary singer Judy Niemack and two very contrasting pianists

in The Piano Bar, Fred Hirsch and Cy Walter.

This months Cabaret Room features some names which may be new to you, including Cheyanne Jackson and Georgio Mancio, plus a voice from the past Matt Dennis as well as piano jazz from the Bill Charlap Trio and a brand new album of all new songs from New York singer/songwriters Anja Turner and Robert Grusecki.
