Camaro Wins Lightning Lap Category

Once again, Camaro wins its segment in the Car and Driver Lightning Lap – Turbo 1LE is the fastest in the LL1 category this year. That means the Camaro V6 1LE and the Turbo 1LE are #1 & #2 fastest ever in this LL1 category. Corvette ZR1 was also the fastest LL4 car, ever, too. Way to go, Chevrolet!

Challenge in a blistering 11.746 seconds. John Kreymborg from Southampton, NY, finished in second

and Emil Zarn from Durant, OK, finished in third.

2019 Camaro Configurator – Here and Gone?

We talk Camaro sales versus Mustang because that is what everyone seems to be talking about again this week.

The 2019 Camaro configuration site was there this week, and now it’s gone. We were going to spend some of this episode configuring a few different models and give you the pricing. Let’s see if the 2019 Configurator is back online soon.

Good news! You’ll be able to get a 6th Gen Camaro in Australia! Bad news. It’s gonna cost you! Our friends over at GM Authority broke it down this week.

The GEARWRENCH Challenge is designed off the side profile of the No. 1 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race car, driven by Jamie McMurray. It includes four timed activity stations using GEARWRENCH tools. The top three fastest contestants in the nation will be flown to Las Vegas for an all-expense paid trip to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sept. 16.

It’s Time For Chevrolet To Bring Back The Camaro Legends Tour

We started the show with a remembrance of the late Burt Reynolds, the Bandit. R.I.P. Burt.

The Holley LS Fest East is happening this weekend, Sep 7-9, 2018 at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, KY.

Our friends at GMAuthority.com wrote an article this week called “Following ‘Truck Legends,’ It’s Time For Chevrolet To Recognize Chevy Camaro Owners”. This leads us to talk about the old Camaro Legends Tour. This was such a great part of car shows in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, and Chevrolet events all over the United States. We think it’s time Chevrolet brought back the Camaro Legends Tour.

Sparks, Md.—It all comes down to this. After more than 3,000 contestants took part in nearly 50 preliminary events across the country over the past five months, three men will head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in hopes of winning the GEARWRENCH Win A Camaro Challenge. The grand prize? A custom 2018 Camaro SS.

“The goal of this competition was to give everyday tool users a taste of the excitement that comes with working on a NASCAR crew, and it’s been incredible to see that in person in each stop along the way,” said GEARWRENCH Senior Marketing Manager Rena Fiorella. “Now, they get this once-in-a-lifetime experience and a shot at winning just about the world’s coolest trophy.”

2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo

Hello, listeners! This show is part 2 of the show we recorded last week. We have joining us in the studio again is Manny Katakis from GMAuthority.com.

Manny was on the GM drive for the new 2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo. We are dedicating this episode to his experience driving and racing the 2019 Camaro 1LE Turbo car.

Here is an excerpt from an article Manny wrote for GMAuthority.com –

“At 3,354 lbs, the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro Turbo 1LE is lighter than the Mustang EcoBoost by around 200 lbs. It’s lighter than the much smaller BMW 230i, by at least 19 lbs. In fact, the 2019 Camaro Turbo 1LE is even lighter than the beloved Corvette Grand Sport, and only 56 lbs heavier than a base Corvette Stingray.

This low weight translates into endearing track manners and helps make it a ringer of a vehicle for SCCA autocross competitions, likely for either the B Street (with the V6 Camaro 1LE) or F Street classes (with the base Camaro SS) when it becomes categorized for next season. To wit, a base Camaro Turbo won the D Street category at SCCA Solo Nationals last year, and a highly modified 2019 Camaro Turbo 1LE driven by GM engineers won the CAM-C class at the V8-oriented SCCA CAM Challenge earlier this month. The car is highly competitive, and motorsport pilots have taken notice.”
