It's a sad goodbye to The Campaign Trail for a while.
This second series did not go the way I anticipated, and many of my plans were completely thrown into the meat grinder by dice, decisions, and probably dragons. This is what happens with a game based on improvisation and randomness.
When we recorded these final half dozen episodes I was incredibly ill, depressed, and not in the best creative headspace. I do not think I ran the game as well as I could have, in retrospect, and decided to end it here rather than pigheadedly carrying on when I, and some of the players, were no longer enjoying it.
It's a little heartbreaking, as I poured a lot of time and creativity into this project. I had a story I wanted to tell, I had topics I wanted to explore. But some of these topics are heavy, and perhaps were not right for the comedy stylings of this DnD game.
One day, I shall come back, yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all of your beliefs, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.
