Mel talks to stage 4 colon cancer survivor Suzanne Lindley. She was 31 when she was diagnosed in 1998, and was told she had 6 months to live. With a combination of clinical trials and radiation and standard treatments she is still here with us today. Along with speaking in front of the legislature, and guest blogging for Cure Magazine, Suzanne has started a non profit beat liver tumors to help other metastatic cancer survivors like herself.

Mel talks to musician Christine Baze an 11 year cervical cancer survivor. She talks about the difference in preventions between when she was diagnosed and now, and why she founded her non profit The Yellow Umbrella.

Mel talks to Valerie McCaffrey, co-producer and co-director of the documentary Tumor-It's In The System. This documentary reveals how alternative cures for cancer have been suppressed since the 1930's and how the bureaucratic regulatory system has maintained chemotherapy and radiation as the only choice of treatment for over 100 years. Valerie and Mel talk about why she decided to make the documentary and how she got some of the famous people, including cancer survivor Melissa Etheridge to be in the film. When her father was diagnosed in 2002 she created one of the first online support community for lung cancer survivors. Katie shares her stories about her father's cancer, how that prompted her to become an advocate, and more about lung cancer, which you don't have to be a smoker to get.

Chris Brewer was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer in 1996. That's when he met another young cancer survivor named Lance Armstrong. The two shared a passion for cycling and helping people. When Armstrong started the LIVESTRONG foundation he didn't think it would be the definitive place for cancer survivors to go to for support.
