Winning a State Championship was an incredible accomplishment—but for Osborne’s Raiders, it was never meant to be the end of the story.
In Part 2 of our conversation with the State Champion Raiders, we turn our attention to what’s next. The team talks about the challenge of defending their title, what it will take to repeat as State Champions, and how the expectations change when you go from chasing the championship to being the team everyone else is chasing.
We also look beyond Georgia as the Raiders discuss the opportunity to compete on the national stage. What would it mean to represent Osborne against some of the best Raider teams in the country? And what will it take to turn a state championship into an opportunity to become National Champions?
The expectations are higher, the target is bigger, and the work has already begun. Hear from the students and coaches about the road ahead, the lessons they’re carrying forward, and why this team believes its championship story is far from finished.
What’s next for the Osborne Raiders? A chance to repeat, a chance to compete nationally, and an opportunity to make history all over again.

What does it take to become a State Champion?
In Part 1 of this special two-part episode of the Cardinal Fly-By, Dr. Needle and Ms. Leonard sit down with members of Osborne’s State Champion Raiders team to hear the story behind their incredible season.
The Raiders take us back to the beginning—how they first became involved with the program, what drew them to the challenge of Raiders, and how they grew individually and as a team along the way. They talk about the physical and mental demands of the competition, the events that tested them most, the relationships they built with their teammates, and the work that happened long before they ever reached the state championship.
Most importantly, we get to know the students behind the title and hear, in their own words, what the journey meant to them.
Their story was too good for one episode, so we split it into two! This is Part 1: The Journey to Becoming State Champions.

On this episode of The Cardinal Fly-By, Dr. Ben Needle and Heidi Leonard sit down with Osborne’s own Ms. Lisa Peacock, recently named the Cobb County School District High School Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Peacock shares her journey to Osborne, what makes the Cardinal community so special, and what it was like to discover—in front of students, colleagues, family, and a surprise visit from the Superintendent—that she had earned one of the district’s highest honors.
And be sure to listen for the moment when two out of the three people on the podcast end up crying. We won’t tell you which two—you’ll have to listen to find out.
Then, things get a little less serious. Ms. Peacock takes on the Peacock Lightning Round, tackling the important questions: prom dance floor or pep rally dance-off? Who’s the better dancer—Ms. Peacock or Dr. Jones? And what happens if someone hands her a microphone at the next pep rally?
It’s a conversation filled with pride, laughter, a few tears, great advice, and plenty of Cardinal spirit as we celebrate an outstanding teacher who represents the very best of Osborne.
Great things are happening on Favor Road. Thanks for flying by so we can share what’s in the Cards!
