On the Road: Osborne’s Senior Cardinal Capstone

After months of preparation, hundreds of seniors confidently presented their Five Star Lives to nearly 100 community judges, demonstrating remarkable poise and professionalism. Through this experience, students not only shared their career goals, financial plans, and civic engagement aspirations but also gained invaluable lessons in public speaking, self-reflection, and real-world communication. The last time we spoke with Sandra DeSouza, she was gearing up for the biggest challenge of her career—a shot at a state title. Now, after months of relentless training, determination, and hard-fought battles, she has officially earned the title of state champion! But this victory isn’t just hers alone; it’s also a defining moment for her coach, Troy Pruett, who has been by her side for the past three years, witnessing her growth, resilience, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

For Coach Pruett, this milestone is both triumphant and bittersweet. Not only is Sandra his first athlete to claim a state title, but she is also the program’s first champion since the early 1980s—a historic accomplishment that cements his legacy as a coach. However, as he basks in this long-awaited success, he is also preparing for a major transition—retirement.

In this episode, we take a deep dive into Sandra’s unforgettable journey to the top, the challenges she faced along the way, and the emotions that came with standing victorious in the center ring. This episodes features two very involved teachers at Osborne High School.

Coach Foster has been a member of the Cardinal Family for over a decade. In that time, he has grown the soccer program into one that annually competes at the state level and is a team that opponents know to spend considerable time preparing for.
