Cody Smyth has photographed Joan Jett, Kanye West, Little Wayne, and many more artists, but his most intimate and beautiful work was documenting The Strokes trajectory from kids in a band to full on rock stars over the course of ten years. The journey was collected in his book "The Strokes: The First Ten Years" and we got a chance to talk about his friendship with the band, the humble beginnings, and the onslaught of stardom all through still images. We also reflect on 9/11, it's cultural impact on the city and us as artists going through the tragic events of that day living in NYC.
This is an episode very near and dear to my heart and I am so excited to share it with you all. If you are a fan of the band or just a fan of photography, you do not want to miss this episode!
