This week I catch up with Perth Standlick, an ex QS surfer but now well and truly fully foil brained. We go through his DW foil learning process, starting with bay runs and progressing to ocean runs very quickly (6:20). He actually confessed to me the first successful ocean run he’d done was with me, I had no idea until during this chat. We go into detail on how to progress down foil sizes (28:00) and stresses the importance of being slightly over foiled rather than slightly under foiled (33:30), especially when learning. We move onto different lines to take when foiling and the squat boost (48:00), conditions for best down winding (55:30) and board design plus his take on prone versus SUP (1:02:10).
