This podcast has been a long time coming. I've always had a lot of respect for Edo. A good kid who is passionate and dedicated to hone his downwind foiling. He joined the Coach Casey Club in early 2023 to hone his paddle up and downwind foil technique, by the time I met him in person he was a force to be reckoned with.
In this podcast we go through Edo's background, starting in Italy and now in Hawaii, it is an interesting story. To then how he got into downwind foiling and the Hawaiian races in 2023 and 2024. We discuss what he changed training, equipment and mindset wise in a year to get to the top of the podium. We then open it up a bit and go brainstorm mode, discussing the M2O course change, downwind foil race formats and the future of the sport.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the chat with Edo and I hope you do too. If you want to learn to Downwind Foil or just want more Downwind Foiling content check out the Coach Casey Club at https://caseyaus.com/coach-casey-club/. Use the code 'TCCU25' for a 25% off discount as well.
We need more women in our sport of downwind foiling and Fiona is one of those women leading the charge. Fresh off a 2nd place finish at Molokai 2 Oahu Fiona is excited about the future of downwind foiling coming from SUP Racing and Wing Foil Racing background.
In this podcast we go into how Fiona got into downwind foiling and the locations she learnt, debrief her weekend of racing in Hawaii and discuss training for these races. It was really nice to chat with Fiona and get her insights. I hope you enjoy it.

After a busy 2 weeks over in Hawaii with the majority of the downwind foiling world it'd be rude not to debrief on what was an exciting time over in Hawaii. Unfortunately Josh couldn't make it to the races so he was keen to pick my brain and we thought it'd be worth recording it as a Casey Catch Up episode.
Hope you enjoy and get an insight into how the sport of downwind foiling is growing at a rapid rate!
Also if you want to learn more about downwind foiling please head to the Coach Casey Club at www.caseyaus.com and find out the best way to learn one of the most epic sports going round at the moment.
My thoughts for the week.
A great catch up with a true waterman, Hobey Moss. We go into details on how he got into ocean sports and a bit of detail into his learn to foil journey. We then get into the monumental Maui to Molokai to Oahu voyage he and Jack Ho did. Details on safety equipment, foiling equipment and much, much more.

A great chat with Jon Mann going into detail on the Barcelona race but also how he got into downwind foiling, the safety aspect of our sport, what lies ahead for him and where the future of the sport is going. All in all a fun one, thanks Jon for coming on!
If you enjoy this content and are looking to get into downwind foiling I would love to see you join the Coach Casey Club to help you accelerate your journey. Jon is a Coach Casey Club member, continuously learning and improving his foiling. Check it out at https://caseyaus.com/coach-casey-club/
I catch up with Xavi and discuss the upcoming event in Barcelona and get to know the downwind scene in Spain. Xavi tells us how he got into foiling and how the local scene has grown.
I'll be recording another podcast debriefing how the event goes. Fingers crossed they get good conditions but also it sounds like it won't matter too much, a race will be run.

A return to the Casey Catch Up with Matt Costa explaining the plans he has for a DW meetup in California. A few questionable logistics and categories but the enthusiasm is there and this is what foiling is all about. Sharing the froth and getting out there together. I hope the meetup is a resounding success.
You also would've noticed I've done a few less podcasts of late. Busy time in my life with my Coach Casey Club taking a fair chunk of my time with a few new courses being filmed, check out details here www.caseyaus.com
I will be getting a few more episodes up in the lead up to some more races that are starting to pop up. Including Barcelona in May, Foiling Week in June and Hawaii in July. Exciting times and keen to share details to help grow the sport!
