The Casual Hour

This Week on The Casual Hour…

We lost our audio this week so Bobby shares some perspective on what has been happening the last few weeks. In short, let’s take care of each other in this time of uncertainty and continue to chase the things we enjoy.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

This week on The Casual Hour, Chase has brought more relics of Nintendo's past for some show and tell. With Animal Crossing: New Horizons tantalizingly close to releasing, it's the perfect time to talk about two devices that worked with the original Animal Crossing (among many other games): The Nintendo e-Reader and the GameCube - Game Boy Advance Link Cable.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

It’s a party of two this week as Johnny hits the bricks. It’s too bad, as we chat about one of his most anticipated games of the year, the Final Fantasy VII Remake, which had a demo drop out of nowhere recently. Outside of that, Chase has been digging into the backlog with Star Ocean: First Departure R and Bobby’s still testing out the new PC waters with Bloodroots and Curse of the Dead Gods. All that and the Pokemon of the Year on this edition of The Casual Hour!

This Week on The Casual Hour…

Chase returns to balance out the newly created PC master race of Bobby and Johnny, and he’s back just in time to tell us all about the new games and DLCs coming in March. If you’ve been lamenting the lack of big titles so far in 2020, this just might be the month for you. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

With Chase on assignment this week, Bobby and Johnny are able to flourish as new members of the PC Master Race. Johnny also uses Chase’s absence as a reminder that The Witcher III is a superior video game that everyone should. Bobby reinforces Johnny’s piping hot take that DOOM (2016) is a very good video game as well. Bobby goes full beta and test a bunch of early access games including the upcoming XCloud service on iOS. With a slow week in news the gang waits for 2020 to pick up the speed. All that and more on this episode of The Casual Hour!

This Week on The Casual Hour…

Johnny’s out on assignment, so Bobby and Chase bring in the best (and probably only) speedrunner we know, Zach Fleeman, to help us break down the best runs from the most recent AGDQ: Awesome Games Done Quick. We talk to Zach about what got him into speedrunning, what makes Super Mario World ROM hacks his running games of choice and if speedrunning has changed his perception of other games he plays. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

This Week on The Casual Hour...

It’s time for another Casual Hour Deep Dive, and on this episode, Chase is here to dig through Nintendo’s weird peripheral past and tell you everything about the N64 Transfer Pak. It worked with so much more than just Pokemon Stadium (ok, not that much more). Hear all about it on this edition of The Casual Hour.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

With GOTY behind us, Bobby, Johnny and Chase have been tackling backlogs and enjoying the freedom of playing whatever they damn well please. And apparently, that means a lot of anime games! Super Robot Wars, Dragon Quest, Ni no Kuni: It’s Chase’s dream come true (and he’s only responsible for one of those games). After catching up on that, we dig into our preview of January and the thin, but surprisingly interesting games of the month - with two particular standouts. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour!
