The Casual Hour

This Week on The Casual Hour…

Our first show of the year is actually our final show of last year as The Casual Hour comes together to reveal what our favorite games of the year were. Bobby, Johnny and Chase each list their top 10 games of the year, then we pour that data into our foolproof algorithm that’s never made a mistake (except for last year when it wrongly decided Monster Hunter World was our GOTY) to determine The Casual Hour’s best game of 2019. Thanks for a great year at The Casual Hour. We look forward to what the rest of 2020 has in store!

Enjoy the rest of our deliberations and come back next week when Bobby, Johnny and Chase reveal their personal top 10 lists and we determine The Casual Hour’s Game of 2019.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

Welcome to The Casual Hour’s 2019 Game of the Year series of shows. While we usually break our categories and top 10s into two separate shows, we had so much fun making and debating our categories, we decided to make another split. Here’s the first part of a total of 5 hours of GOTY content. See which categories we cover on this week’s show, and check back next week to see the next batch.

GOTY - Deliberations Pt. 1

• BACKLOG GAME OF THE YEAR (A 2019 game you didn’t get a chance to play, but wanted to)

• GAME ORIGINALLY SLATED TO RELEASE IN 2019, BUT DID’NT RELEASE IN 2019

• BEST SURPRISE GAME (which game exceeded expectations the most?)

• MOST DISAPPOINTING GAME (Game that least lived up to expectations)

• HOTTEST MESS

• BEST GAME TO PLAY WITH YOUR SON (Johnny-only category)

• BEST GAME YOU DID NOT FINISH IN 2019 (Mostly for Johnny, but self-pick)

• BEST STRAND GAME

• BEST ONGOING GAME WE ACTUALLY PLAY

• WEEABOO CHECKLIST GAME FOR CHASE

This Week on The Casual Hour…

Game of the year is almost upon us, and most of 2019’s big releases are already in our hands. While that makes for a pretty light December to preview, Bobby and Chase are still digging around, looking for that diamond in the rough. Join us as we preview the remasters, ports and leftovers of 2019, and wonder what’s going to happen to some of the announced games for this year that still are without release dates. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

As Johnny, Bobby and Chase wait with anticipation (or dread, depending on the day) for Death Stranding, we’ve all got a few other games we’re working on in the meantime. Chase is still digging into his massive backlog, putting time into Fire Emblem Sacred Stones and starting the 2018 visual novel, Heaven Will Be Mine. Johnny’s exorcised his demons and finished Control. And Bobby’s getting spooky with Luigi’s Mansion 3. All that and a quick Outer Worlds update from the crew on this edition of The Casual Hour.

This Week on The Casual Hour…

We say goodbye to October and hello to one of the biggest months in gaming this year, if only because of three games. Listen as we break down all the interesting (and not so interesting) titles you can play instead of paying attention to your relatives this Thanksgiving. In addition to our preview, we’ve also got our early thoughts on the console port of Return of the Obra Dinn, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and The Outer Worlds.
