The Casual Hour

We’re joined by returning guest Ryan Dampf (@iamryzn) as we talking all about Pokemon this week, specifically the second Pokemon Go Fest in Chicago. But the whole gang has caught Pokemon fever with Bobby playing SoulSilver, Chase playing Quest and Ultra Moon and Johnny playing Ultra Sun. All that and a lot of Wonder Trading on this edition of The Casual Hour!

We’re lovers, not fighters here on the show, but fight games? That’s another thing entirely. The crew recounts our favorite fighting game characters (some from truly dreadful games). Speaking of dreadful, Bobby and Chase have been slogging through another Destiny 2 Faction Rally. Meanwhile, Johnny picks back up on both Fire Emblem and Ni No Kuni 2. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

It’s our July preview episode, and while we’re all steeling ourselves for some fireworks on the 4th, there are some fireworks coming down the gaming pike as well. Listen as Johnny, Bobby and Chase detail what to keep an eye out for. As for what we’ve been playing this week, Johnny has jumped on the Ni No Kuni 2 train, Bobby is disappointed by Hollow Knight and Chase has traveled the Octopaths. All that and a Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom movie review on this edition of The Casual Hour!

Everyone here’s feeling the E3 hangover, so how about a nice, casual chat about what we’ve been playing the last couple weeks? Bobby and Johnny dig into the newly Game Pass’d Division and Elder Scrolls Online while Chase is questing for Pokemon and playing yet another new baseball game. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

E3 has happened and Bobby, Chase and Johnny are here to give their less than expert opinions on what they liked and didn’t like at the show. We cover all the major press conferences(sorryPC Gaming Show) and determine what our personal top three games were at the show. All of that on this edition of The Casual Hour!

The Electronic Entertainment Expo is starting soon, so we’ve gathered the whole crew to give our opinions on what we might see and not see at the show. We cover some of the news that’s leaked out, as well as our most farfetched wishes of games and announcements. In the meantime, we’ve also been playing a couple of new things. Bobby’s hit the links in The Golf Club 2, Johnny’s hit the courts in the beta for Mario Tennis Aces and Chase has hit the ol’ dusty trail in West of Loathing. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

As May comes to a close, The Casual Hour heats up with our June preview. Problem is, June might not be the best month for game releases this year. Bobby, Chase and Johnny try and pick the wheat from the chaff while anticipating the upcoming E3.  Meanwhile, for games we’ve been playing, Chase is reigniting his love for two old classics - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine. Bobby is in a state of bliss with State of Decay 2. And Johnny’s ready to take another stroll through Blighttown in Dark Souls: Remastered. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

We take a walk down memory lane as we look back at E3 2017 to see how things actually shook out. Some things worked out OK (Monster Hunter, God of War, Dragon Ball FighterZ) while some decidedly did not (Sea of Thieves, Far Cry 5, Star Wars Battlefront 2). Meanwhile, Chase has been giving some small 3DS eShop games a look and Bobby commits an original sin for the second time. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

We’re on the cusp of E3 talk, but until then, we’ve got other things to talk about: Like games we’ve always meant to finish. Assassin’s Creed, GTA, Final Fantasy, we’ve got all the hits…we just haven’t hit the credits. Meanwhile, Chase is continuing with Destiny and Super Mega Baseball, Johnny’s wrapped up God of War and started some previews of Dark Souls Remastered and Divinity Original Sin 2 and Bobby has picked up a few new Switch games that he’s pretty excited about. All that and more on this edition of The Casual Hour.

Well, we actually did it. 100 episodes (maybe even a handful of decent ones!) And we’ve got something special for this episode: The full cast back is together! Johnny, Chase and Bobby too. And we’re going to be rolling this way going forward. Listen to us argue with, chide and talk over each other — just like old times — as we wonder how the hell we got here. Oh, and we also talk about some video games: God of War, Minecraft, Super Mega Baseball 2, Donkey Country: Tropical freeze and some game called….Destiny? Hm, sounds interesting… All that and more on this 100th edition of The Casual Hour!
